I always thought that the Mass Effect universe sounded a lot more realistic than most sci-fi franchises.
That's because it is. A lot of the scientific principles in Mass Effect are based on real life technology and theories. Rail gun weaponry, circumventing the whole physics problem via mass effect tech, quantum entanglement, AIs(which we already have, in a disturbingly limited capacity), "kinetic barriers", even infantry weapons, they're mostly all plausible with enough advancement.

This coming from a Trekker, by the way. Mass Effect is my favorite series, but Star Trek was my first love.
ISD batteries on unshielded worlds are described as, "making rocks run like water and sand turn to glass." Plus the ISD is able to fire for elongated periods of time with multiple batteries, while a Reaper has to charge up each time to fire one round from it's main cannon.
Based on reading this hardcore SW fan's post about Turbolaser strength: http://www.stardestroyer.net/tlc/Power/index.html
The average Imperial-II Star Destroyer had at least 36+ Turbolaser cannons.
If you take the ICS at face value it places a capital-class turbolaser at 200GT/shot.

Blasto should be an unlockable character in every Mass Effect game to come.
Martin Sheen called my house the other day asking for us to vote from guy in the election. I was so excited when I heard the Illusive Man.

I saw a video about andrew jackson in school today, and he was narrating it.
the whole time all i could imagine was the illusive man talking to shepard about U.S. history

Should've been Admiral Hackett.
"Voter we got a situation here, and you're the only one that can help."
It's the VGAs guys BLOPS will probably win GOTY.

"Your voters will have to be strong, as will their resolve."

DLC 5: Varren infiltrate the film studio of Blasto and take everyone hostage. Cerberus sends you to rescue blasto.
Those are some intelligent Varren.
Articulate varren squaddie that recites shakepeare for ME3

Elcor do Shakespeare, Varren do Edgar Allen Poe.
Don't you mean they bark Edgar Allen Poe?
While I say that ME2 or RDR deserve GoTY, we all know that Black Ops will win. If Black Ops somehow doesn't then Reach will. This isn't based on content but instead its based on the modern day genre. Modern day consists of 20 replicas of the same shooting gameplay. Don't even bother thinking that ME2 will stand a chance at the VGA with Black Ops.
I liked the Black Ops single player storyline far better than previous ones (there actually was one) but it's still nowhere near a good, RPG storyline. Unfortunately people will take this improvement from shit to above average as godly and it will be considered a literary masterpiece. Unfortunate how expectations are so low that it beats out actually good stuff.
I liked RDR, but I didn't love it. I wouldn't really give it GOTY anyway.
Reach actually had amazing artistry in it, Black Ops... from what I can seems like Michael Bay decided to have some story.
Eh, I'm not going to judge Black Ops until I've tried it. To be honest, I've actually liked all past Call of Duty games, even CoD3 and MW2.
Reach was probably second only to the original Halo in excellence, while Black Ops was admittingly better then either Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2.
It's better than the original MW? :raise:
Oh look it's this thread again. :allears:
I keep forgetting about it.
I think the multiplayer idea is for the better. Imagine if it turns out like Star Wars Battlefront, only Mass Effect. That would actually be fucking amazing. It's such a fantastically well-made universe and I'm happy to see it expand.
I think Mass Effect could become the new Star Wars.
To those ruling out it's Mass Effect because Bioware were lazy and reused models, I don't think that's true, as they'd need to remodel the entire thing for a cinematic, unless they're lazy enough to reuse weapons design.
A multiplayer Mass Effect game sounds like a bad idea, especially if its going to be like COD.

How could a flash game win GotY? :raise:

Also I'm surprised there's no speculation regarding the flash comic or whatever :frown:

That would actually be sort of cool, having a creature squadmate. Because of the lack of ranged weapons it could have insanely good attacking and be able to tank a whole bunch of damage, maybe with some other ability for good measure.
Think Dogmeat from Fallout 3.
Starting the suicide mission, my second playthrough of ME2, this ones going to be my "canon" playthough, the savegame I import to ME3.
This shepard has been through all of ME1 and I'm pretty sure I've got very very close to 100% completion of ME2, I've explored every galaxy, done as many quests as physically possible and I plan to get through the final mission with no casualties.
Also, Saren is watching this thread. Stop that, you're dead.

Dogmeat sucked, and ME2 has even worse pathing than FO3.
