That's because bandits are fucking assholes. They rob random people, shoot at you on sight (in SOC), think that they run the place (just ask Sultan), and are generally dumb-asses. They have no redeeming qualities at all besides their base music in clear sky, but that's just cause it's funnier than hell. I suppose they're the only stalkers wearing trench coats (apart from the one in the SOC opening) but that's hardly a good enough reason to like them considering their other traits.

I never inserted morals, I just said they're all dicks and that's why nobody likes them. Besides all the other factions have some level of honor system (albeit a very warped and loose one.)
the bandits have a honor system too, in clear sky when you first enter the garbage they steal your money, but let you keep your guns and armour so that you dont get killed by mutants. (regardless of how much your gun is worth)
