It will be the first mech game, or even battletek in a long time.

It's free, and an amazing game. I'm not sure why you're complaining.
So I heard this had regenerating health and a cover system, with non-sim controls (ie, no throttling, you just move in any direction instantly with no revving up). Confirm/Deny?
If it's true then Mechwarrior is the latest 'classic' franchise to die after being consolized to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Yeah, but at the least Mechwarrior 4 is gonna be free, so who cares?

Hey look more sourceless rumours that are blamed on consoles.
Well realistically speaking a throttle system using the thumbsticks on a 360 game pad would suck ass.
I've never played any form of Mech game before, but if this turns out to be a really complex mech simulator I'm most likely gonna buy it. I'm not interested in some arcace mech game where you're running around dodging rockets.

...I'm not complaining.
I'm just disappointed.
When they said it'd be out soon I figured it would be some time in the next few days.

Well MW4 plus all addons for it is being released for free (the guys packaging it up are going to take a few weeks to get it all in though).
Here's the jist of MW4 (certainly not my favorite mech game but it did it's part):

Guy in the video is a noob though, he was playing with heat turned off. He would have overheated about 12 times over with how much he was shooting those weapons (when you overheat your mech shuts down and you have to start it back up again).
I hope they add something to multiplayer that restricts everyone from just getting an assault class and never using anything else.

I believe that their were match setting that limited mech' class and custom loadouts

Clan Facepunch anyone?
There's a difference between a faked scripted "cutscene" done in the game engine on max graphics and souped up textures running on a super computer with a recorder that records every frame at a crazy high resolution (this is how trailer footage for games are made), compared to REAL in-game footage.
That video was about as in-game as a final fantasy cutscene was in-game. Just because they "filmed" the footage in the same engine they are using to make the game in doesn't mean what they showed was actual gameplay or how it will look at all (newsflash: it won't).
Wow what a bad comparison, the cutscenes for FF were pre-rendered, as in, no actual engine involved. Sure it may not work exactly like that, but nobody said it would, it's just in-game footage, which means it could look that way real-time, doesn't mean it will play like that but that's kinda obvious, since it's a trailer it's important to make it a bit "show-off".
There's been a lot of RTS hate when I hear mention of MechWarrior and I agree MechCommander sucked my balls. However, having some RTS elements in game would be interesting. Something small like being able to open an overhead map and command other nonmech infantry, tanks, aircraft etc would be a welcome addition. I've always felt they could do a lot more with the nonmech stuff.
I'd also really like to see the Mercenaries management system. Having to scrap for everything is fun. It also makes me feel an attachment to units and makes me feel like I'm actually accomplishing something. It's the difference between my ally dying and me saying "Oh. No. Two is down." and me yelling "Fuuuuckkkkk! Not Iceman and his 100 million credit mech!"

Yeah, and when you go from mission to mission your mech shows scars and patches from repairs based on how much damage it's taken from combat.

You already could do that to an extent in Mechwarrior. Most MW games you have a group of lancemates, that you could order to attack targets or get in formation. Sure it's nothing like a tactical battle map but you didn't really need that anyways.

You also had the Mobile Repair Bases.
Mech Commander 1 was awesome, 2 wasn't so good.

Note he said non-mech assets, IE tanks, aircraft and infantry. I don't think that'd be necessary either, but it'd be cool if you could call in air support at your discretion rather than having it done by a trigger or what have you.
I love how they made the design of the mechs much more bulkier.
Bulky mechs are awesome.
Guess I'm gonna have to get this for the Xbox because i doubt my PC could run this.
In my opinion mechwarrior 4 was the best.
I love making a hideously overpowered atlas and destroying everything that I touch.
Then getting blown up and ejecting only to land right onto my mech when it self-destructs......
God yes.
I loved the old Mechwarrior games. I remember when I was really young, I would act out the battles. It was awesome. Mechwarrior was the game that I played, all the time. Besides Mario Kart 64, I played that too.
Yeah, I remember dusting off that old Matrox Mystique card I had from ages ago and piecing together a computer that could run the old game.

Hey, I loved MechCommander!
Especially the first one.
I never understood why the second one had like, a quarter of the polygon count per mech.
Great, I've been wanting a new Mechwarrior game for a while now.
MechAssault doesn't count.
MechAssault was a fun game, first time I played online multiplayer.
Makes me wonder whether they'll have melee attacks in this game.

No Mechwarrior game has had melee as far as I know.
It would be great if they did but seeing as the Atlas in the trailer didn't have hands...
Depends on how you define melee - I know I've destroyed a lot of mechs by landing on them with my jump jets.
I was talking about punching kicking ramming and picking up that guys arm that fell off and hitting him with it.

Also your avatar made me nostalgia.

I mean it was'nt intense enought to be in-game . It really looked like gameplay , as if the atlas was AI controlled.
