Oh come on that movie was seriously bad. Along with the stuff I already mentioned, I was waiting for the movie to end after about 20 minutes of watching it.
It wasn't an action movie, you ADD infected child.
It was a drama with action, it was supposed to be serious. Not like those generic superhero movies you see every year.

Using my awesome skills I managed to fix the problem with the launcher without losing all the game files I'd already downloaded.

I then copied the backup of D:\Program Files\Cryptic Studios\Champions Online into my new D:\Program Files\Cryptic Studios folder.
Only use this if you have already downloaded the game and are being asked to redownload, otherwise there isn't really much of a point to it.
It has finished patching and I will now try to play.

I'm hanging around in the city. Server 1, but I'm getting this really weird bug where it's pitch black and I can't see shit save for effects and my guy (who is apparently bathed in a extremely shiny oil).

I'm always on a different server because they're all fucking instances.
And yet, the framerates still suck in crowded areas, and I have a great machine which can ( for the computer illiterate users in here ) run Crysis on high
Instances + Monthly Subscription = "We're too cheap to run real servers"

Well if you are don't log out or close the game or have it crash, because you can't get back in.
Edit: It's working now, installing a patch too.

Yeah, tutorial sucks, but i did it in 15minutes on my second character.
Yeah once you know your way around the Tutorial it's pips to blow through it.
