Specs wise it's like .2% better than Xbox 360. So, yes.
Nintendo claims Wii U will be a very powerful device and that it'll be better than Xbox 360 and PS3. But people are having a hard time believing that and I don't blame them lol

Just cause what people believe doesn't mean it necessarily have to be it that way.
It doesn't help that everything they've shown so far looks like typical sub-par Wii graphics.
See, now that's a little worrying, I want the Wii U to be good. but if the console is going to be significantly weaker than Sony's and Microsoft's next gen consoles. That means multiplatform releases are either going to get buttfucked for the Wii U, or just not ported at all.
Wii U is going to pale in comparison to the Next-gen consoles sadly, going to really hurt it.
Then again if Microsoft goes through with that nasty rumor of "One time use" games, that's going to drop them out of this console war pretty quickly.
Well I'd say having a little advantage over the xbox 360 and ps3 in specs is good since nintendo wasn't always on the graphics only problem is the history will repeat again.

They've apparently got a load of Third party developers in for Wii U titles, at least I think that's what they said at last years E3.

That may be so, but what about when the next generation hits? Are these third party developers going to deliberately hold their games back just for Nintendo's sake? This will mean that support could dwindle very quickly in the future, or like I mentioned earlier; we could be seeing butchered ports

It depends on what the hardware is. Only info I am aware of, is rumours and those rumours set the next Xbox being maybe 20% faster than the Wii U.
Whether that is even remotely true, we might find out in the next 24-48 hours.
