I really wish they'd go back to the sprite-based Mario games. The NSMB ones just have a tacky feel to them.

I saw some during the interview where he was webswinging above trees in central park or whatever, there was definately nothing to attach to. Most of the travelling they were doing was using the slow-mo web zip thing between the sides of buildings and lamp posts.

I think that's just Web Rush, which is basically optional QTEs that the player can activate while web swinging. All it does is look pretty.
Not to mention, it's possible that the webline was just attached to the top of one of the trees.

Apparently they're trying to get the original voice actors. The voice of Robotnik/Eggman posted that he was involved with a secret project just before the film was announced and the voice of sonic has posted support for the film on his facebook page.
