but seriously it doesn't look too bad but i'd like to see some uncut gameplay, i hope it's a bit more sandbox like FC2 was
as long as they make long distance travel less of a hassle, and get rid of weapon degradation, I'll consider it better than FC2.

Is anybody else really excited for this?

Honestly? No. My pulse raced when I saw it was Sam Fisher but what I've seen of the gameplay is so far removed from what Splinter Cell actually is that I have literally no interest.
Also, no Michael Ironside this time around = no buy.

Splinter Cell was once a stealth game.
Could someone summarise the Ubisoft presentation? I was busy cleaning an entire cup of coffee off my desk/mouse.
Watch dogs

I was also amused when I saw this in that gameplay walkthrough.

Real mature, Ubisoft :v:
Blacklist looks cool, I loved Conviction, but no Michael Ironside sucks. He really is an iconic voice.
Far Cry 3 looks better and better each time I see it, I actually kind of liked the look of it this time around. Looks more interesting than crysis 3 I think, which was beautiful as always but horribly scripted and linear which is a real shame, I wish EA would stop seeing every one of their shooters as a CoD competitor. That said we did just see a tiny part of a scripted sequence, the real game could be super open and I wouldn't even know.

People said Conviction wasn't a stealth game when it was first shown. Ended up it was
People said Hitman Absolution wasn't a stealth game when it was first shown. Ended up it was
People said MGS4 wasn't a stealth game when it was first shown. Ended up it was.
The ability for armchair game critics slash game historians to accurately detail a game after it's 5 minute demo at a press event is pretty spotty.

Oh wow this looks pretty co- Oh wait. Kinect voice functions... Which also means it's most likely going to be 360 only.
God damn it.

Sorry, but I barely consider Conviction to really be a stealth game. It had good stealth elements to it, no question, but it was nothing compared to Chaos Theory. And you know what I really liked about Chaos Theory? I liked how it was completely possible (and encouraged) to never kill anyone. Now Sam Fisher is going rambo on everyone he sees. I'm just not a fan of that.

Having more options doesn't impede the ability to play stealthily. Just because they demo'd someone gunning everyone down doesn't mean that's the only option.
This is Hitman Absolution mk 2. First gameplay is more action focused, people are going to bitch about it, then several months down the line a pure stealth gameplay will come out and everyone will feel dumb again. It happens every time.
[editline]4th June 2012[/editline]
Also I've never tried it but I believe that, for the few scripted parts, you can get through Conviction without killing anyone. You can definitely get through without raising alarms.

Right, but I'm basing my prediction off of A) The fact that I had to (or at least was encouraged to) kill literally every single person I saw in Splinter Cell Conviction and B) the gameplay trailer showing Sam mowing down insurgents and calling in a fucking air strike in the middle of a "stealth" operation.

looks like he has his wallhacks goggles and takedown shit from conviction
yes, a++ 100% excited!!!! old splinter games were too gay and slow becuz u couldnt kill every!!
Yeah, Splinter Cell has never really had only one style of playing the game. You could always run and gun if you wanted to.
EDIT: If you read the books, Sam wasn't constantly in a shadow all the time. Different environments are nice.

I sure hope you're right. Seen too many games that boast 'stealth' but end up doing something entirely different
The more I look at watch dogs the more I want to play it right this second.

Wow what is wrong with you
That didn't stop Mass Effect 3 did it? Also it's a splinter cell game, those have NEVER been exclusive. What the hell.
Yeah, Splinter Cell has never really had only one style of playing the game. You could always run and gun if you wanted to.
I'm not disputing that. What I am saying is that Conviction pretty much required Sam to commit what Chaos Theory called "Collateral Damage" and Blacklist doesn't look to be any different. I don't like that. I want to be able to go through the entire game without killing a single person because that's what Splinter Cell was (arguably) all about if you wanted to truly be a stealthy agent.
Sony Conference starts.
Gabe enters the stage.
Huge "3" written behind him on the screens.
Gabe: "this is how many pounds I lost this year, have a great E3 everybody!" *exits the building*

Ok, Assassins Creed has always been stupid, but this is just pissing on splinter cell. They can't even get Ironside anymore, removing my 1 reason for wanting to play these generic slightly stealth related cover shooters.
Yeah, Splinter Cell has never really had only one style of playing the game. You could always run and gun if you wanted to.
But the recent Splinter Cell's don't give you any non-lethal options at all which was in place in the first 3 games. I'd like to see non-lethal options come back
watch dogs weirded me out cause as somebody who lives in chicago i kinda recognized where that scene was taking place
You could grab people and knock them out.
Also even though the options were available I never saw Splinter Cell as a game where you "didn't kill anyone". I'm pretty sure they didn't pack you up with a silenced pistol, modular rifle, and a knife for nothing.
I'm watching the rest of the MS conference that I missed now before the Sony one starts. Had to turn my sound down because Tomb Raider sounds like porn.

He wasn't in the shadow, yes. That doesn't mean he was jumping around shooting every single enemy ever. You could beat a lot of levels in the old SC games without killing anyone, but this game encourages killing dozens of people, just like in Conviction.
There was no way to neutralize enemies in Conviction without killing them, and one of the only missions where you could leave people alive was the airfield if you sprinted pass enemies.
