It's going to be Episode 3.

They're probably waiting for some sort of technological advancement to pursue their ideas, like James Cameron did with Avatar.

There won't be a Half-life 3, they're too busy working on Episode Three.
There will probably be EP3. They are just working very hard with the newest engine hopefully with gradient support, this is also why Black Mesa: Source is delayed.

When people say "E3" in here they're actually talking about E3.
Episode Three has been expanded into a full length game and is now called Half-Life 3 which is why it's been taking so long fingers crossed.

Im hoping they announce EP3 or HL3 inside Portal 2 (some sort of hidden easter egg), sounds like something whacky valve would do.. and it is in the same universe.. so it could be likely
