I discovered a 2x1 tunnel while digging out a mob grinder.

After looking into it, I saw this.

I jumped into the pool, and noticed the dark ground. Investigation showed that it was obsidian.

I entered the next tunnel and saw more obsidian waterfalls.

Turning, there were two [i]more[/i] obsidian factories.

Up a hill, I was greeted by two cobblestone factories with an obsidian one right smack in the middle.

To the right, there was a small obsidian floor that was probably made by the waterfall uphill.

Then, I saw the last, largest obsidian factory.

After mining all visible ore veins, I walked away with 40 iron, 23 gold, 25 redstone, 75 coal and 7 diamond. FUCK YES. I'm gonna go store those, and come back to get the obsidian and start batch #2.

We're not sure yet, although the MC forums are packed with people either trolling that they found it, or thinking that they found it when they really didn't. However, I believe it might be (might) that pigmen can very rarely spawn in the real world, but there's not that much proof for that theory either.
