I have an idea for a Minecraft game: Mine to the Bottom!
Two or more teams of players compete to create a mineshaft all the way to the bottom of the map. Rules:
1. At least one block of adminium must be visible in the mineshaft
2. The mineshaft must be no smaller than an 6x6 vertical column. It need not be uniformly shaped nor follow any specific design but it must contain a straight 6x6 column of empty space from top to bottom
3. Every team must start from scratch with no resources or tools in their inventories
4. All leftover materials (including mined blocks and leftover tools) must be returned to the surface and placed in chests in order for the mineshaft to be considered complete.
The required size of the mineshaft could be adjusted based on the number of people per team so that the game can be reasonably completed in a single play session. Alternatively - if you're interested in a macro game - the size could be greatly increased so that it would take several days of mining in order to finish.
I think it would be fun! In order to win you would need to be well organized with an efficient mining plan since in addition to simply breaking blocks you would need to harvest wood, manufacture tools, and haul excess material to the surface. Plus you would need to design your mine so that miners can get in and out of it, while at the same time minimizing construction time.
