I have an idea for a Minecraft game: Mine to the Bottom!
Two or more teams of players compete to create a mineshaft all the way to the bottom of the map. Rules:
1. At least one block of adminium must be visible in the mineshaft
2. The mineshaft must be no smaller than an 6x6 vertical column. It need not be uniformly shaped nor follow any specific design but it must contain a straight 6x6 column of empty space from top to bottom
3. Every team must start from scratch with no resources or tools in their inventories
4. All leftover materials (including mined blocks and leftover tools) must be returned to the surface and placed in chests in order for the mineshaft to be considered complete.
The required size of the mineshaft could be adjusted based on the number of people per team so that the game can be reasonably completed in a single play session. Alternatively - if you're interested in a macro game - the size could be greatly increased so that it would take several days of mining in order to finish.
I think it would be fun! In order to win you would need to be well organized with an efficient mining plan since in addition to simply breaking blocks you would need to harvest wood, manufacture tools, and haul excess material to the surface. Plus you would need to design your mine so that miners can get in and out of it, while at the same time minimizing construction time.
I'm not sure, but I hate mining huge mines like this. And I feel that each miner would just mine straight down, then build staircases up which will be dropped by a miner who makes just tools and gets the wood.
Oh sorry did I step in the TF2 thread?
I can't wait for Christmas :D
Is everyone ignoring my mod want?

Hah, this is funny. Everyone's complaining about the game running crappier but mine is in fact running BETTER after the update.

Oh, also, new thing nobody seems to have noticed: Items and blocks' names pop up when you mouse over them in the inventory.

So do most mods work with the Beta or are all them borked? I wanna use Mo' Creatures again but I don't know if it's compatible.

The secret thing Notch added was a mob, it's called Doomish and it uses the pigman skin. It's a friendly creature and when you hit it, 20 seconds later it announces "GUYS I GOT HIT!"

So... Apparently, Notch can't name things. Oh well, we can rename them. We have the technology.

Beta not update your minecraft!
Server up 1.2.6 Alpha version : 82.45.34.179
I know I won't ever be influential enough to choose a thread title, but I couldn't help but think this:
Minecraft Thread v51 - Always A Faithful Dirt Digger :v:
Edit: Maybe someday :smith:
I know I just posted but /care it's a new page.
Server up on 1.2.6 Alpha : 82.45.34.179
Minecraft Thread v51 - Beta as Fuck
Can anyone give me a link to good tutorial for hosting SMP private servers?
or has the Beta update just made everything too fubar to host anything right now?
What do these agree ratings mean?
