So guys I managed to get A furnace and stuff and picks axes swords shovels etc, just got this game, what do I do next? Got a hidey hole and used all my coal to make torches etc.

I agree too, and no offense to Notch, but he needs to get his shit in order. This is ridiculous, especially since it's a 6 employee team.
I agree too, it would be different if he called it going into the beta "stage" but not a whole new client with half assed updates.

I mean, Survival Multiplayer is the game's main selling point right now, and all the problems from Alpha have been carried over to Beta. I think Notch was rushing it, which was probably a bad idea. Taking it at his own pace was working well, but with all the people wanting Beta he's really had no choice but to ignore them until now.
I want to know whats caused these performance problems. Maybe the rare thing is causing it

The funny thing is there's next to no difference between alpha and beta and he still managed to break it.
So I was exploring the Nether to find some glowstone and got lost. Luckily I brought obsidian with me and made a portal. I checked Cartograph to see how far away I was from my home.

Right. I mean, the game was Alpha, so broken stuff was excusable, but now that he's moved it into Beta, people are going to say bugs like the recent performance issue aren't excusable anymore. I haven't been keeping up with this. What all is broken? I tried to play with a friend today but he kept dropping connection when joining my server.

* Made SMP servers save chunks way less often in most cases. Chunks don’t resave if they got saved in the last 30 seconds

FPS drops, can't play SMP on a beta client, item glitching, black screening, mods broke
