It's not a 4d object, it's the shadow of a 4d object, since we obviously can't see in 4 dimensions.
So I was digging for diamonds the other day, deep down below the surface. I manage to find 3, and continue with the dig when suddenly, my game black-screens.
"Well, piss" I tell myself, "I'll have to start over from my last save. :/"
So I shut down Minecraft, restart it, and reload my save.
The game remembered my position and inventory, so I still have my diamonds. Yay!
But the game didn't remember the tunnel I dug so I was stuck in solid rock and suffocating to death. D:
I managed to dig out a small air pocket in time enough to survive, but I couldn't tell which way to dig to get back to the central shaft, so I had no choice but to dig up.
I slowly carved out a spiral of stone, collecting any coal/iron I found along the way until I hit a small cave. Nothing but coal in it but it saved me some digging on my way upwards.
Finally, 5 minutes after my near-death experience, I struck sand. Or rather, the sand struck me. In the face.After nearly suffocating [I]again[/I] I was able to clear out the sand only to be greeted by a torrent of water. I had dug into the bottom of a lake. :saddowns:
After fighting the raging current, I find myself at last at the surface, but... Where am I? I don't know where home is from here, but I know I've been here before... I see torches from my expedition where I decided to walk westward for a time, but I don't know which way is home.
Thankfully I had the foresight to carry with me a furnace and a crafting table, and with the coal I had dug up I was able to smelt the iron ore I had collected, and combine said iron with redstone dust to make a compass.
Thankfully I wasn't too far from home, for after climbing a few mountains I see a familiar sight: a forest fire that had raged behind my home in the hills since I tried innocently to burn away some stray leaves, and which I had affectionately named "Magoo's Big Oops".
tl;dr: God damn Minecraft forgetting my tunnels. >:C
