Been digging for a while...

I've got a few crafting ideas here. They might sound a bit iffy, maybe even stupid, but just hear me out.
First there's the Tube, which is made from 6 Wood/Gold/Stone/Iron, arranged on the Workbench with 3 on the top and 3 on the bottom. The Tube can be used in many ways, most of them as crafting components.
One such example is the Telescope, crafted by placing 1 Glass/Diamond on either side of the Tube, and can be used to observe things from a long way away (a Diamond Telescope has a better zoom than the Glass Telescope), which can come in handy if you're scouting out new territories on the surface.
Another example functions as a new weapon, which might garner a bit of controversy and/or didsain, but i'm hoping it won't. By placing a Wood block in the middle-left Workbench space, a Tube (of any strength, preferably Iron) on the middle-right space, and a Redstone Torch in the centre space, one can create the Musket, a primitive-yet-effective ranged weapon with higher accuracy than the Bow and Arrow (yeah, I know it's a gun, but just stay with me), yet deteriorates in condition similar to how most other Tools do when out through their paces, and like most other Tools, the Musket will last longer (be able to fire off more shots) depending on the grade of Tube used. So even though the Musket is better for long-distance ranged attacks, it'd be wise to either have spares handy if your equipped Musket breaks, or simply have a Bow as well just in case.
Instead of using Arrows, like the Bow, the Musket uses Shots, which are crafted from Flint, Cloth and Gunpowder in a similar fashion to how one crafts Arrows. Yep, now you can use Gunpowder for more than just blowing up mountains, and you can use Cloth for more than just making Paintings.
I hope these ideas are at least viable, and it'd be appreciated if I get feedback, since feedback is cool, but keep it constructive, since it's important to know what's good and what's bad about an idea, thus I can go back and make changes if something's wrong.

I like them!
I wanna play minecraft but I don't know what to build. :frown:
My tactic to getting diamond and surviving going outside and in caves every time.
1. Get Pet mod
2. Human mod
3. Shoot your rod at the grim reaper thing. (:q:)
4. Take shit. (most likely diamond)
5. Get some skeleton defenders for you.
6. Go outside or in cave.
7. Watch as you are defended by skeletons and you sit there and wank.
8. Wank.

merry craftmas everyone!
(btw feel free to PM me if you want to request a skin)
I always see people say that mobs drop up to 3 items, but personally I've never had more than 2 besides sheep.
Would someone mind uploading their unmodded minecraft.jar? (or a unmodded mob folder).
I installed some mob skins and well I didn't like them, however I don't feel like redownloading my minecraft.jar thus having to reinstall all my mods.

Oh yeah, I forgot you could do it that way.. sorry!
It's called art style. The 16x16 textures are part of the games style and I'd be sad to see them go for some unoriginal brown, blurred, glowing shiny high resolution textures.
If you're referring to the blocks themselves then I'm afraid you completely miss the mechanics of the game and the game will never become deblocked.
If you care about the blocky art style then I'm afraid you will continue to be dissapointed.
I was referring to the textures not the actual blocks. and I get it. Its not a big deal for me I was just curious.
Second technical question if you guys could help. I just bought the game and when I start the game and log in this happens

I'm starting to play Minecraft less and less; I don't know why :(
Been flatting out the ground for my monstrous creation, once it's built i will slowly build a city around it, which will be surrounded by high thick walls. Every square inch of it will be lit, monsters will be a thing of the past.

I will keep you's updated on my progress :)

Were there trees behind you? Otherwise, wood may be a problem for you. I hate when I waste daylight looking for trees.

Yeah there's a few next to my house which is about a 20 second walk away from the screenshot. They're starting to run out though.
No matter how much I have... I'm always running out of wood.

Then punch the leaves and plant some new ones!

Notches donation probably helped make up the difference for all the assholes who paid a cent for their bundle and ended up sucking away 39 cents from the entire charity event.

I love how the hearts and tools are left the same in the second picture.
I'm not sure if the game would be the same with those graphics.
