Dude, Move does everything Kinect does just a 100x better and with some added controls. I played The Fight (fighting game obv) on the convention and my character imitated my moves perfectly, and not just hand movement, but torso, hips, arms etc.
How does it feel to lose immersion once you wave two giant glowing balls infront of your face? We need mental controllers.
oh, and nice marketing sting at the end there. "let go of the controller". yeah, how about i don't and continue having fun, k?
I'm not a PR dude. I'm only trying to make a point. Anyone who hates the Kinect, hate it because it's not a controller. Sooner or later games will be controller-less. What will you do then? My guess is stay behind with the current gen and miss out on whatever titles get released. You can only do so much for so long before it gets out dated and boring. First it was buttons, then joystick, then a box controller, then a thumbstick, then triggers, then nunchucks. Now controllers are dying off. There really isn't anything else, except your body. That and your mind I suppose.
I have mine It's awesome. anyone who says it's a eyetoy clone clearly hasn't used it :buddy: Though i have to agree the Launch lineup is pretty bad, Wait a few months for the Game list to build up then get it IMO
Of course the man with the chibi anime avatar is the one with the kinect. Have fun with Skittles, I guess.
You're like a Microsoft PR guy, if anyone says anything bad you assume I "don't know about it" or I'm "Just making assumptions." When I'm not. I've looked into Kinect greatly because It's something I may buy in the future, my sister wants me to get it and it costs 200 freaking euro. That's not exactly the kind of money I want to waste. Money that could be going toward food or bills.
A million times this.
It's awesome. anyone who says it's a eyetoy clone clearly hasn't used it :buddy:
It's basically an eyetoy that tracks your body. The eyetoy detected movement, which for 2000 was awesome. Also, the PS Eye can track your head and has four multi-directional microphones. Don't see Sony marketing that do you.
How does it feel to lose immersion once you wave two giant glowing balls infront of your face? Now, when a Move arena fighter with endorphin AI comes out, I'll be all over that shit.

No controllers won't die out anytime soon unless you mean only in the casual market. The only thing that will kick controllers of their throne is mind-controls. But that will kick Kinect and all other motion controls into the dust too. But yes, Kinect will have a lot of success in the casual market, that's for sure.

I do have my reasons for defending it, but I'm doing it in such a way it seems I'm trying to force it upon everyone. What the fuck have I become? :(

Stop moving and it won't notice your body and i never said the PSeye and Eyetoy were bad. Also, kinect passes some stress tests that people were interested about http://kotaku.com/5681959/xbox-360-kinect-stress-test-technology-vs-dogs-darkness-disguises
I have mine It's awesome. anyone who says it's a eyetoy clone clearly hasn't used it :buddy: Though i have to agree the Launch lineup is pretty bad (there's one amazing game, a few good games but arn't worth buying unless your interested, a few shit ones, and then sonic free riders :ohdear:), Wait a few months for the Game list to build up then get it IMO
If you have Kinectimals, please try giving Skittles a haymaker and post results. Also rub his dick vigorously and see if that causes some reaction.
I don't have Kinectamals. I only bought the sensor and Dance central (Dance central is the one amazing game i mentioned in the first post i made) I might get Joy Ride and Kinectmals later when the price drops on them possibly
The Eyetoy only detected motion from what i seen. Stop moving and it won't notice your body
That's what I said.
and i never said the PSeye and Eyetoy were bad.
I never said you did. That was just a statement.
It had good potential, but they made it super gimmicky.
It had good potential, but they made it super gimmicky.
Yeah I'm with Janus, it was looking good back when it was Natal.
I'm not a PR dude. I'm only trying to make a point. Anyone who hates the Kinect, hate it because it's not a controller. Sooner or later games will be controller-less. That and your mind I suppose.
Keyboard and mouse have been doing pretty well for the last ~20 years with no major changes. And no, the Nunchuck/Move/Natal isn't inherantly better than controllers. I would argue they are worse. Each itteration of the controller added something, first it was buttons, basic movement controls, then the joystick gave freedom of movement. The box controller combined movement with more advanced commands, but movement was restricted again. The analogue controller perfected it, two thumbsticks to control movement and buttons, triggers and d-pad give control over any concieveable aspect of the game. Then motion control comes along and ruins all the progress we've made. No longer is there accurate movement of a character, no precision control of a camera. No complex control scheme. You may argue that simplicity is better, but it vastly removes freedom. And my main problem is how it's advertised. "It's like you're in the game" No it fucking isn't. When I have a controller my brain thinks, my hand makes a small action and the character is controlled, there's minimal interference between thought and action. With motion controls I think, I swing my arm in whatever action is needed and the the character copies the exect thing I just did. It adds an extra layer of interference for no reason other than to appeal to the casual croud who are too intimidated by controllers, where making simplified games would be a better goal IMO.
Wow, skip to 13:00 in this video. It actually managed to jump off the top of the TV while searching for the player.
It had good potential, but they made it super gimmicky.
I kinda Agree, the first launch games are basically gimmick games headed twoards kids (Except for dance central, i love it). As i said earlier, wait a few months for kinect to mature and it will be awesome [editline]5th November 2010[/editline]
Wow, skip to 13:00 in this video. [editline]5th November 2010[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LL3Nf.png[/img_thumb] is more correct than you think, some dude playing dance stars or whatever (i have no idea what it's called) followed the steps perfectly but the game only registered half of what he did.
Fun fact the Voice recognition is actually godlike on the kinect I was worried it was gunna be like that but the voice recognition pretty much exceeded my expectations
"Wow I might actually Have to buy the attachment" There's your problem.
Shouldn't have to. If this happens they should ship it included.
Then the PS Eye should of had a attachment too to put on top of your tv. I Put it there due to the move and it loves to fall off my TV.
Used one. It's just a glorified Eyetoy. Does it have a webcam quality camera? Check. Does it detect motion (badly most times)? Check Are there any real games for it on launch? Failed Is it overpriced? Check Yup, thats a gimmick right there.
Then the PS Eye should of had a attachment too to put on top of your tv. I Put it there due to the move and it loves to fall off my TV.
Mine hasn't ever fallen. Solid as a rock, on a flatscreen too. Also the clip for the kinect is $40, and apparently it's just a flimsy piece of plastic.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LL3Nf.png[/img_thumb] is more correct than you think, some dude playing dance stars or whatever (i have no idea what it's called) followed the steps perfectly but the game only registered half of what he did.
It's so broken it says loading when shutting down!

As i said in my post, Wait a few months for the Game list to mature then get it
Atleast playstation move costs less than kinect.
Mine Never Badly Detected me. and the only good real game on kinects launch is Dance central. As i said in my post, Wait a few months for the Game list to mature then get it
because there are so many great titles announced for it like
Mine Never Badly Detected me. and the only good real game on kinects launch is Dance central. As i said in my post, Wait a few months for the Game list to mature then get it
See, if MS actually gave a fuck and wanted their "innovative new peripheral" to not be utter shit, they would have given devs a SDK months before launch, so we would have a half decent game instead of this party crap. Even Sony realized this, as we got a virtual beatdown simulator on launch. Yeah, it's mostly MS being fucking goons that are causing the problems once more, bad pricing, bad release.
