Xbox Kinect - Who's getting one and what games look best to you? - Games

Kinect is basically an upgraded Eye toy. Around 10 years ago 10 gb hard drives were considered amazing and people would pay good money to get one, now people go insane over 20 tb hard drives and don't even look twice at 10 gig hard drive. The eye toy, was basically the 10gb hard drive back then, however it was stupid and a piece of shit idea that no one liked. We like controllers, we like control, we like sitting on our comfy couches and gaming, if I wanted to exercise or play sports, guess fucking what.. I'LL EXERCISE AND PLAY FUCKING SPORTS.. The kinect not innovative or state of the art. It's just a newer version of something older, like the hard drives, but the world has already shown it doesn't want (eye toy), so there wasn't any reason to create such a thing in the first place.

Why post all those stupid party games. Forza 4 would have been the best choice

Motion control is so casual it farts housewives. Nothing wrong with being a casual gamer except for polluting the industry, but I wouldn't get it even if i had an xbox or a ps3.

Couldn't they make a controller as perfect as possible, and wait for the next generations consoles with all this? No they couldn't, they need all the money now! Also, next to every game for both Kinect and Move is only to attract younger people, Microsoft said themselves that they only made the Xbox to make kids buy Microsoft products when they get older, that's the main reason to why we have an Xbox 360 right now. :colbert:

All the Kinect has different is a camera to project a image into games and a shit mic. TrackIR is also much more accurate in almost all circumstances. Sure it is limited to head motion, but it shows that full body tracking is a pretty bad idea right now.

I have the Move and might buy the Kinect if they would just make some god damn games for it (they should make some for the Move as well).

The main thing tons of people forget is that you'll be able to use the xbox controller in unison with Kinect in games. For example, you'd control movement and aiming with the xbox controller in a shooter, but your posture and actions like throwing grenades, leaning, and jumping would be governed by Kinect. I think that'd be ridiculously awesome.

I would like to get one, if I had the space. I could barely accommodate a Wii, and all you really had to do was stand in one place and wave your arms like you're on fire. If and when I get a Kinect, I want Dance Central. A dance game is good every now and then.

I just realized something. The one feature I'm really interested in turns out to require Xbox Live GOLD. What the fuck Microsoft? Why the hell should I pay you 10 bucks a month (60 for a year) to have a video chat when I can do that exact same thing for FREE on my laptop? I mean really, are there servers dedicated to just Kinect Videos or something? It's really not necessary.

In my opinion Kinect is fucking useless in terms of, well, usage. There's really no good reason to have one. Right now all it has is "CONTROL SHIT WITH YOUR FUCKING HANDS" and casual cookie-cutter games that were made up probably within the same meeting that Kinect was conceived. It's only uses are unnecessary tasks like controlling the playback of a movie. It'd be much easier and a less daunting task to use a regular controller and actually have fun. I know my argument has holes in it, but my general idea is that you don't need Kinect and personally it's not something I'd even take for free much less pay for because you'll probably end up playing the launch games for an hour TOPS. A friend bought one for him and his girlfriend, so I went over and tried it out. Honestly, its pretty damn fun. The tracking is accurate, the lag is minimal, and mini-games are entertaining. Is it worth $150? No. Is it worth $100? Maybe. I think a lot of the people shitting on Kinect haven't even tried it for themselves. Also, please stop with this "casual is killing gaming" bullshit. It's called different audiences, and it just so happens that the audience that likes the Kinect/Move/Wii is a hell of a lot bigger than the one who likes "hardcore" games. There isn't a decline in the latter, there is just a bigger proportion of the former. Deal with it. Gaming is not some sacred cow. It's media, and is subject to the same "mainstream" appeasement that other media forms get, like books (Twilight), television (Glee), and movies (anything made by Dreamworks).
