• Xbox Kinect - Who's getting one and what games look best to you?

Well if you shit on Kinect at least it will accurately sense the shit hitting the floor.
If they release a good 'hand-to-hand' type combat game, I may get one (Still think it's a tad expensive, maybe I should sell my Wii).
We like controllers, we like control, we like sitting on our comfy couches and gaming, if I wanted to exercise or play sports, guess fucking what.. I'LL EXERCISE AND PLAY FUCKING SPORTS..
The millions of people who bought the Wii disagree with you. The general populace obviously likes motion gaming, otherwise Microsoft and Sony wouldn't be throwing so much weight behind their respective devices.
I play Wii from my couch. :colbert:
Do you play exercise and sports games from your couch?
Do you play exercise and sports games from your couch?
Yes. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] Is this difficult to understand?
Yes. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] Is this difficult to understand?
Apparently. You do know fitness and sports games are meant to be played standing up, right? ...right?
Not if the controls don't require it. The point of games are to bring forth enjoyment, not to get you flailing your arms. Besides, the most Wii games will do for you is sweat some fat off. If you think you are exercising your muscles through Wii then you are in deep denial.
Everyone should go to Giantbomb, press Quick Look and watch everything from Kinect Adventures to The Biggest Loser, in that order. That way you'll see most of the live tests they did of most of the launch games. Those who already hate Kinect before trying it will say "Ya, that sucks bro", while those who still think it might have some potential down the line will say "Yeah, that totally might work some day." Either way you'll have plenty of laughs, so Kinect could be a lot worse.
I have a Wii, but I don't play any of the games that are supposed to be realistic (like Wii sports and the like). I mean, It's a video game, maybe I don't want it to be realistic. If I want to realistically play tennis, or realistically play bowling, I can just play tennis, or go bowling. I don't need to pretend to with a fucking remote, it is stupid.
So my dad went and bought the Kinect, and I must say... It's a piece of shit. First of all, the setup is ridiculous, and takes fucking forever, and parts of it don't work properly (i.e the sound setup) Secondly, the controls are all wonky and fucked up, they spaz out way too much to be practical, I can barely move my hand an inch without the avatar getting facefucked by his own foot. And finally, no games. Really? Microsoft? You release a new way to play games, and you don't even fucking make any decent games for it? Fuck. You. Now don't get me wrong, the Kinect's concept is nice and all, not having to use a controller, but it was executed in such a way that makes me want to ram a boot up the ass of Microsoft.

You just stand there. I never had any problems with the controls. If you don't try to mess with the system, it rarely glitches. I agree with the no games part. Still, patience is a virtue. There were no games for the PS3 (and to some extent, the 360 and Wii too) either when it was first released, and now it has a great lineup. Wait for developers to learn their way around the tech, and there will be some quality games being released.
I'm planning on getting Kinect for christmas, some of the reviews are good, and I know most people will probably think it's shite since Facepunch think everything new is shit, but I'm fairly excited; by then I'm sure some new games will have been announced.

The controls I can see, but it might have something to do with play-space. I've noticed the closer I get to it, the more the avatar spazzes out and shit, but it really doesn't do it all that much. And the no games portion of it... it just got released. Seriously, be patient. If there's not something out that you like yet, just fuckin' wait. They've got a few wii sports mock ups and shit, so just rent/buy those and calm down.
I am just waiting till they get a decent FPS. You just have to wade through the launch day demo games.
I may be late on this, but I found a totally unbiased place for Kinect reviews. http://www.kinectreviews.com/ My favorite part: http://www.kinectreviews.com/kinect-bottom-line Yup, no bias there.
Uh wow. Head tracking software is NOTHING like Kinect.
It operates like it. It detects body motion for gameplay without a controller.
I wasn't saying that the setup was difficult, it was just that a lot of the sound tests would fail just because the room had to be dead fucking silent for it to detect anything. I'm not the one who set it up, and my dad's knowledge is questionable.
It's fun to use (used a demonstration Kinect in a store), but it's too buggy and expensive right now. I'm going to wait until some more games come out and the price drops.
I have utterly no intention at all of buying either a Kinect or Move, I've got a Wii that I think is a piece of shit, why would I want some rip off crap that I'll never use either?

The Kinect however, pretty much has the starting line up as the Wii so I'm surprised you don't even want the Move.
I'm not the one who set it up
So you claimed that setup was crap even though you weren't the one to set it up?
I got the Kinect. It's amazing how it has voice commands and it does what you tell it to. I told it to make me a sandwich and my girlfriend walked in with one! Amazing!!!
Eh it looked fun but the only game that really looks any good is that raft thing, I just can't see many quality games being released on it. If you want to play a sports game for example like that Kinect Sports, the PS Move does it a lot better and probably more accurate too. Just not my cup of tea, would rather have the Move, even though I admit the games are limited at the moment but it has more potential.
So instead of hands free gaming you rather hold two ice cream cones? And no, the PS move has no potential, remember a little console called the Wii? That is the EXACT same thing as the move, exept they had the decency to give you a good looking remote instead of two colourful vibrators....
From my facebook:
got Kinect for my 360 and it is literally the coolest video game EVER!!! think about how cool everyone thought the wii was when you were moving with a wireless controller. with Kinect, its 100x better! you dont have a controller and the graphics are SO much better! its AMAZING!!!!
I'm writhing in pain due to immense facepalm.
I don't really care how many people dislike it, me and my brother played it for about 2 hours (I'm 18 and he is 23) and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure the gimmick will wear off but it's no doubt impressive technology.
kinect is retarded, Move is even dumber, if you buy either you're a douche and a retard
Move isn't retarded. Motion gaming is cool, but not as good as controller gaming. The Move combines the controller and motion gaming.
Move is more a clone of the wii.
Move is basically a remake of the Playstation Wand, and that came out before the Wii.

I have kinect, and I like it, I won't be using it for every day gaming and playing it tons, but it's still better than I thought it'd be, regarding response timing. It's probably ~200ms off +/- 50ms
