You didnt think you'd sound like a fag.
But by golly you tried your hardest and pushed it to a new level.
Congratulations! You're a go-getter!
Kinect is $150? Really? At least Playstation's Move is $100, and the launch day games are all shit.
I'm not sure if Kinect will ever have anything interesting for me, but I'll have to wait and see, maybe at next year's E3 MS will unveil something good for it.
If not, then it's bound to fail forever.
Well, I don't have a PS3 (yet), and Move or whatever is pointless to me because I have a Wii. I'll probably end up getting Kinect for Christmas if there is actually anything that looks fun (currently, the games look like shit).
Fuck, if Kinect doesn't pull itself together I'll just go with the PS3. I have an Xbox, and it's cool, but I'm missing out on the PS3 exclusives. I don't want Gears of War, and I don't care for Halo: Reach, I played Halo 3 for a long time and people already stopped playing Reach because of Black Ops. I want Resistance, dammit.
Got to play around with Kinect Sports today. While it's definitely not as precise as Sports Champions on the Move, it is pretty fun. Table tennis works surprisingly well, so does soccer. Boxing is terrible though, and bowling is frustrating at times. Didn't get to play track and field or volleyball though.
sure is fanboys with no life arguing in here
I'm going to join in, from both sides of the argument:
The PSMove is the closest thing to a Wii Clone, the only thing is that the 3D space analyzing as opposed to wii is done on the other end;
With a wii you had your sensor bar which emitted IR Light with 2 led's, the WiiMote itself actually had a reciever built in which would then transfer data to the wii and translate it into x/y/z movement.
The PS Move seems to do the opposite, with the camera being in the sensor bar position
Stop calling kinect a blatant wii knock off, it's more of an eyetoy knock off. With the difference here being that eyetoy used super imposing and kinect uses 3 cameras, two infrared and one rgb. The infrared cameras allow it to percieve depth due to the fact that both camera's have an offset that is similar to human eyes, this offset allows 3D Depth perception on the 360 itself. This is why the Kinect can analyze more than just the motion of a point in correlation to x/y/z space and can be influenced by the entire body.
However, even so both are pretty awkward to control. In my opinion the best use of motion controls in gaming was done by the Wii and it should have stayed at that. It does seem like it's the next big gimmick the way it's going but there is some good practical use in both, Especially now that the kinect has an open source driver we could soon be controlling our computers in 3D space, now imagine that with a 3D monitor and appropriate application. Another thing I would actually do is make use of the kinect as a cheap infrared camera that I could monitor from my computer.
With psmove I have already seen good gameplay implementation and if they ever adapt it to computer who knows what kind of good third party use it could potentially have.
I am expecting a shit load of dumbs and hurrr you don't know what you're talking abouts, and I also expect that from my argument it looks like I support kinect more so than the move.
but by bitching on and complaining and arguing you're all making yourselves look stupid and snobby, as if any of you could do any better than microsoft or sony.
you're all worse than spoilt 12 year olds that feel entitled to everything, to be perfectly honest.
Tried the Kinect at a convention, doesn't work with my helmet. Fail.
I will say this again, spend 50 more dollars, buy a wii instead if you havent.
And also, the box of kinect should say, ''Might not work correctly without spacious room and patience''
If i wanted to play with motion controls, id play a Nintendo game that implements motion correctly.
Well I'm kind of re-evaluating my opinion about it. As long as it's properly calibrated and there are no disturbances it performs really well.

lack of bad spelling rating is killing me right now
So instead of hands free gaming you rather hold two ice cream cones? And no, the PS move has no potential, remember a little console called the Wii? That is the EXACT same thing as the move, exept they had the decency to give you a good looking remote instead of two colourful vibrators....
Hey, if I had a choice between shit hand free games and holding "two ice cream cones" with good games, then I would the one with good games.

You could already do that with a webcam/TrackIR. Pretty cool. Plus, you could use the Wii remote for gaming.

Yes however what i'm saying is it's the first motion controller to use that technique in mainstream application for consumers of video came consoles
I was gonna get it, but then i realised the 2 rooms i play in arent the right size or shape for kinect to komprehend.
I'm going to get Kinect.
Haters gonna hate.

It's your parents money. Go ahead.
The move is fucking awesome for tumble, the building game, but I don't know if its just me but when I tried to play time crisis on it, it wasn't all that good
For those who say kinect is expensive, it comes with a full game that would most likely cost $40 if sold by itself.

Very good point. So really, the kinect is the same price as the move.
What are you guys talking about, the EyeToy is awesome.
Okay here's the arguments to sum up why Kinect sucks, I don't plan on getting it but you're all pretty bad at explaining why it's so awful. Listing them: It's a Wii clone, the technology it cheap and buggy, and that the launch titles suck. Basically the same thing people said about the PS3 if I recall, it was just another console like the 360, the technology sucked-360 was the best ever fuck PS3 will overheat and be expensive to replace, and that it had no games. Look where we are now with the PS3.
At least provide evidence or facts, instead of saying the technology sucks, list what the Kinect uses, and research the hardware and find out that it may not be the highest quality camera or processor or whatever. Post videos of actual games, not videos of before development was finished or videos of people who look dumb playing it, why does it matter what you look like? Stop being so self conscious about how you look playing games with you friends, or if you're alone- then why even is this an issue? I can honestly say the gameplay videos have actually swayed my opinion and made me want to at least play the Kinect for a day or two, just to try out a few of the games I saw. I can't really say the same for the Move right now- though I have high hopes for future games.
Was gonna buy Kinect for $200aud today but my friends and brother talked me out of it.
I can't tell if i made the right decision, Probs.

you mean Kinect Adventures?
which is a major pile of shit
It ain't a full game but it's not THAT bad
Yeah sure i will get one and proberly get sonic free riders with it
Bumping this as I'm sure some members are getting one for Christmas. I got one on Christmas Eve and I'm yet to open it, because honestly I'm not sure what to think of it. There simply aren't enough games released right now that influence me to open it, and I'm yet to see any upcoming games that look decent. Seems like a pretty big leap of faith, when I could just buy a Wii and Wii Sports and accomplish the same goal of family-oriented fun, plus all the solid Wii Games like SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy, ect.
I got one after playing with it at the store a few weeks ago. Kinect Adventures got old quick, but I tried the Dance Central demo and then almost immediately went out and bought it. Dance Central is the most fun I've had on a console in a long time. For me (and a bunch of my friends that played with me) the tracking and accuracy is perfect, I don't think I had any problems with it. You just need to have a lot of room. Dance Central is also a really fun party game. If you've played it (and if you're like me and my friends) and you're drinking and at a party, you'll want nothing more than to play it.
I've had a Wii for over a year, it's fun and there are a lot more good games for it, but Kinect feels completely different than the Wii in my opinion. I don't think it's a Wii clone at all.
