Seeing as L4D was innovative and no other zombie game had been that immersive and fun to play, let alone the Coop gameplay is almost revolutionary on its own.
I'm thinking you have to reconsider what you consider good or not. Besides one bad release doesn't instantly make a game company a bad one. Even if L4D was a great release anyway.

Voted for World of Goo for casual gaming shit (Nintendo, Family), L4D for multiplayer game of the year, Best Publisher and retailer Valve, best UK developer Rockstar North (Fucking obviously), One to watch was Mass Effect 2, and best soundtrack was Fallout 3.
Oh yeah, and I voted for Sonic Unleashed for Xbox game of the year, purely because it'd be entertaining to see its community bawwing about it.

The IDEA was good, the game itself was a cheap fucking let down. It felt like a HL2 mod. It IS a HL2 mod.
Same props, same engine, same everything, the game is terrible.
