Before they changed mounts scaling with skill the Steed was awesome.
Gets sent to every toon you create ever and does everything all the way up to 310% flying and before cata was great to just have one button to mount.

logic would suggest they put two of them in when they put the CELESTIAL STEED in - the glitter pony (which seems to have been created in the style of algalon in ulduar) , and one more undead looking one to match the style of ICC (which was new at the time I believe)
except then everybody and their grandmother would be riding around on something looking more akin to Invincible, probably even today, which would be boring, so they only kept the glitter pony

Like mounts are expensive? Most I've ever spent on a mount was 1k gold near the launch of Wrath, the vendor for the Death Knight flyer wasn't under a reputation yet so I didn't get any discounts. You can make 1k gold in almost no time at all.

algalon's cool because everything about his fight is like a celestial planetarium but the glitter pony is like... sparkly and shit and reminds me of twilight, especially because the things it leaves behind look far more like sparkles than stars

...What? Only 280% and 310% riding cost 5k, basic flying costs 250g. Basic flyers cost 50g, epic flyers cost 100g. Winterized flying costs 500g, old world flying costs 250g. All of those costs can be reduced by reputation gains. At most you'll spend 11150g on all of that, and that is with [i]no[/i] reputation discounts at all.
