For some reason it never displays the words unless you actually have the berserk pack, but it does work. also, the enemy has to be close to death, and I think the secondary fire does something else, like let you take a shotgun dude/imp as a shield.

Give the man hearts next time you see him.[/QUOTE] Nice, added these links to the OP. I like the HD texture pack, but I so far I am not digging the HD sprites pack, they look...off. To each their own I guess. I like the DooM 64 sprites because the game had it's own darker theme, but for this we are talking about replacements for classic doom 1 and 2. They aren't close to being done though so they might look better when they reach closer to being done.
Thank god for this thread, and giving me a reason to post again on Facepunch. Honey, I'm home. Anyways, I'm playing through Brutal Doom on Ultraviolence difficulty as we speak. Doom 1 first, I'm on E3M6 right now, and I'm searching all over for the secret because I can't leave this map until I find my way to E3M9. I know it doesn't change the ending, but it's sort of an OCD thing despite me not having obsessive-compulsive disorder. Okay, beat Episode 3. Thy Flesh Consumed is hard as balls, people.
Facepunch needs more Doom threads.

I remember playing Skulltag nearly all the time from 2004-2009, I even had a special day (Doom saturday) when I would only play it.
At the moment it's exactly the same, and their long term plans are basically "remove all the uncredited content in skulltag" right now. Just wish the name wasn't so bad. I had to re-read it 3 times before I stopped remembering it as Zandorum.
one thing this mod makes a hell of a lot easier: barons. you grab the SSG and go megaman on them. jump at and shoot forward, blows their head away in one blast. we need a general doom megathread.

Best level for Brutal Doom is the first level of TNT, there is a berserk pack right in front of you. I recorded a video of it on the 3rd highest difficulty. I prefer it this way. There's also a couple of weird bugs: first of all, the blood splatters like to show through enemy corpse sprites so you see 'em through said sprites. Looks really weird, and it's especially noticeable on dead cacodemons. Living enemies don't have this problem. Second, when you pick an enemy up with a berserk pack to use as a meat shield, your assault rifle has unlimited ammo. Once your clip runs out, you stop expending ammo when you shoot and just keep being able to shoot without having to worry about running out of ammo until you lose your meat shield, at which point you reload and only lose 20 bullets.

I think the cyberdemons need to be toned down a bit. I mean...holy shit how am I supposed to beat this. I guess maybe its because of the certain way this megawad has the boss battle laid out.

Makes it at least more bearable to kill them because they can take a bunch of other enemies with 'em. Also, he said that the blood pool rendering weirdly can be fixed by telling your source port of choice for Brutal Doom NOT to smooth sprite edges.
The Lost Souls the Pain Elemental shoot out have different sprites, you can also catch them and throw them.

Is it me, or have Lost Souls become infinitely more annoying than they were in vanilla Doom?

We should get together and play co-op with this... I could set up a dedicated server probably.
I can't help but use the minigun almost exclusively because its firing sounds are so awesome compared to everything else.

Been playing this in coop with my friend Nacho and it is fun as hell. I wish the monster texture pack he used was completely finished. Playing Skulltag Invasion maps with this gets funny since slow downs and such (even with my PC which is quite good)
I'm up for coop.
