I'll be buying this, it looks very promising. :v:
Is anyone else having audio issues? Some of the ambient noises and special effects are so loud they drown out the voice-overs. I've turned both settings way down or even off to try to get rid of this. It's like it's cranked up to 11 in certain areas, and fine in others.
Just released on Steam in the UK. Well, not really until Steam actually decides to let people download it (Yes, I've tried restarting) And downloading now, 1mb/s. Happy. Now to sleep.
Overall, it's not GOTY material and not worth even 40, I'd say 30$. First off, the destruction is really really flawed. I just blew up a bridge and it was floating in the air, no supports, just floating. When ever I destroy a building, it takes like 20 seconds for it to collapse. That's just weird right there. No joke about the bridge Secondly, the gameplay is bland; you just go and blow shit up that's about it. That is fun for an hour or two, than you want to do other things. I mean, I want to get an enemy outfit and use stealth, I want to sneak behind enemy lines and put charges on critical building points and blow it up, with out them shooting me because they think I'm one of them. You can't do that in this game and that's a real problem. There is numerous times where you have to basically either flank, or assault an place head on, there is no real alternative option to it, you can't stealth it, just fucking go on a rampage. It gets really stale, real fast. I also hate the storyline. You're telling me the EDF basically owns Earth and Mars, has pin point artillery to kill you instantly (Go to a free-fire-zone and keep going, you'll see) and has all kinds of advanced weaponry like helicopters, yet somehow they can't find the guerrilla base? I mean for god sakes, they never even assault the base, or really assault any place. It's totally pathetic. Now some real points that really kill it for me. First off, many people with better computers than mine, can't even get past the main menu. This is due to the Bik-files. People couldn't get past the main menu and have to remove/rename the files. That is fucking pathetic; along that, people who could get it running have said that with out running it in windowed mode, it was a laggy piece of bumshit (I ran it in windowed and it's actually pretty good). So that's another complaint. Just one personal note, randomly, I'd take more damage from enemies, like their Assault rifles one moment, will barely do any damage (Armor level 1) yet the next second, they'll kill me instantly. What the hell is that about? Also, it takes me about 7 mins to load, even after just dying. It's pathetic as all hell, and I doubt it's my computer. The game has a poor destruction system, bland repetitive gameplay, a story with giant holes and some weird optimization problems. Wait for a patch or never buy it, I don't think it's worth 50 nor 40, maybe 30 but never more.

Same thing happened to me with a game and It was fixed after I updated my driver. Negatives: 1: Loadtime ffffuuuu this game takes forever to load 2: Mission movies take awhile to load or do whatever the hell there doing 3: Destruction system is full of bs I've heard some people say well its low grav and everything is made of super strong materials. Well if mars has low gravity than why the hell would they bother wasting money on super strong materials? If anything they would be using lighter cheaper materials. Even if the gravity was really damn low and everything was made of omfganium a building should fall when theirs only a 1" thick bar holding up 2 floors. I hope someone finds a way to modify the physics system. Anyone know if you can mod the vehicle handling? I want to go rockclimbing :D
doom, no one said you have to like it.
doom, no one said you have to like it.
So? It's called a review and my opinion, I never said I hated it either. I'm sure other people who aren't sure if they want it might want to look at my review. Because I just showed a major flaw in the destruction system. I mean hell, I got this game for the destruction it self.

I've been playing the game for a while now and have destroyed much shit. And that has never happened to me.
I'm sorry, but your "major flaw" is a single incident. I've been playing the game for a while now and have destroyed much shit. And that has never happened to me.
Lol, I've had some weird shit happen but I've never seen a floating object.
It's happened alot to me, and even than, it's my opinion.
It run's great for me and I've seen flaws happen before but with an engine this advanced in destruction, you gotta expect a few fuckups. I agree with some points like bland gameplay after awhile but when you talked about stealing outfits and sneaking behind the lines, this is the wrong game for that. Red Faction is a shooter not Splinter Cell or any stealth game, I do like your concept but that's not the market the developers were aiming for. I found it a very good buy worth 40$ and a wonderful port over Saints Row 2 which was dreadful. Also may I remind you that we get the free DLC's with this to make up for the wait.
It's happened alot to me, and even than, it's my opinion.
It's probably your CPU, struggling to keep up with the physics.
Doom, your settings seem VERY low. Maybe your processor isn't really that great.
Jetpacks. :c00l:
It's probably your CPU, struggling to keep up with the physics.
Which is why other things blow up just fine and I get like 40 fps. I'm sure my CPU is struggling with one bridge piece, compared to the loads of bunkers I'd ram a car in and have them explode instantly (in other words, working normally) :downs: [editline]08:26PM[/editline]
Doom, your settings seem VERY low. I do admit, I enjoy the destruction

It's a single glitch that no one else has experienced, doesn't that seem strange to you?

HUR DUR JUR COMPOOTER SUCKS Besides, it's a glitch, of course glitches don't happen to people 24/7 This happened to me like 5 times maybe, otherwise it's fine.

What are your specs doom? It takes me about 10 seconds to load the game. Two seconds for multiplayer games.
What are your specs doom? It takes me about 10 seconds to load the game. Two seconds for multiplayer games.
I admit not great, but it doesn't matter. [editline]08:34PM[/editline]
QQ
QQ to joo too, it's coo bro me:hf:you
Lol, I've had some weird shit happen but I've never seen a floating object.
I actually got the 360 version and I've seen much weirder shit go down. For example: At one place in Dust sector near the northernmost wind farms next to the guard tower. There was one point where after a missing to blow it up (again: I had beaten the game already, and was re-playing some of the missions), I was using a truck to flatten EVERYTHING. One piece of clay wall was actually stopping the truck cold. I tried ramming it head on several times. It did not budge. I got out of my truck (It blew up actually: Too much damage trying to kill a thin clay wall), and looked at it. It looked heavily damaged, so I used my sledgehammer on it. It didn't break. I used it all around it, and eventually used all my demo charges on it. Eventually, it was one piece floating in the air that was both invincible and frozen. If you hit it or damaged it, it rotated a bit, but would never move. I probably whacked it for a good 10 minutes straight with super-sledgehammer and super debris turned on and it never broke. True story. Also, with floating chunks of building: It's the way the destruction engine works. Each part of the building depends on other parts: That way it doesn't use UNGODLY amounts of processing power to work. Occasionally, one part 'links' to the wrong part, causing a cyclic buildup. That way, one chunk can rely on itself and float. Until that one part is damaged or moved that is. That's why if that happens, you can take one whack at some part, and the entire thing will fall out of the sky at once. You obviously were not playing it long enough to notice such issues. tl;dr I've played the game on the 360 since it came out and I've seen that floating object thing and more.
They also do it to milk everything they can out of the consoles first as they know 90% of people playing the pc version warez'd it.
This is beyond exaggeration, this is outright trolling.
Might help to list the specifics, since I've never seen something like this happen. Edit: And I've even tried to cause it on purpose.
It's fine, it was just a small complaint in my review/opinion and it's excusable to me.
This is beyond exaggeration, this is outright trolling.
If they don't release a map editor, then he's completely right. The pc version needs more features, I could've got it on xbox but I preordered on steam yesterday instead.
doom: it takes about 5 seconds to load a level. every single building collapses perfectly(except for some really balanced ones which are a pain in the ass and the occasionally standing-on-one-chunk-of-rebar), and i agree with one point, gameplay is limited, but that's about it.

Is anyone else experiencing serious stuttering at times? It seems to be random or while I'm driving; I can run the game maxed and most of the time there won't be a problem. ATI 4870, E8500, and 4 GB DDR2.
Yet again, it was a personal note, my game takes about 7 mins to load a level
Your computer sucks ass then.
Picking this up for the 360 tomorrow, Can't wait
