Barricade them.
Awesome game. Still have to figure it out. So far made it past Day one, then run into an extremely big number of zombies.
If somebody could tell me, does the number of zombies go down in a district as you kill them, or does each kill auto spawn a new one?
We need to be able to hold bullets or something guns are just a big waste of space.
they go down, but at hour 0 atleast 10 zombies respawn.
Move your bed right by the door or sleep on the floor right by the door, I've gotten woken up before from the sounds of the zombies if they try to knock down the door.
Bug, entered CHAR building and I got the warning and decided to leave because it wasn't as abandoned as I thought.
It turns out pressing enter (because other wise you CAN'T DO ANYTHING!) to leave the guy giving you a warning announcment counts as your turn and he shoots me.
I had a grocery store holed up with close to 100 bags, a assload of guns, flashlights, medical crap, a bed and some other stuff I took.

Also difficulty thing is really broken, more civilians is deadly when they get into zombies and finding things not looted is even harder.
Whenever I try to install the game, I always get an error that says:

Can anyone help me here?
The author mentioned something about a netfix 3.1 patch for errors, did you try that yet?

When and where, might I ask?

I wasted it on a level 3 zombie :saddowns:
It was in the middle of this thread somewhere, and also on his blog.
This game is REALLY interesting with an uncontrollable imagination like mine.
Somewhere around day 2, mid way to day three, I suddenly realised how few pieces of furniture, doors and windows are left. Went back to spot where I saw numerous survivors last time, half of them dead and some big beasty chasing the rest. Decided to exit stage right, straight into a small zombie horde, that nommed me.
There are moments in this game when you feel invincible, only a few turns later to realise how everything is going downhill.
Great. Just great. I sleep for a very very long time because I slept in a chair. And when I wake up I see a blood splatter where my partner was, a broken barricade, and this..
"You hear screams of terror 8 squares to the NW"
Way to be a team player Hubert Holtz
I never, ever, ever join up with other survivors. All they do is take up supplies and die.
Yeah I learned that from Hubert Holtz personally.

^This. It's harder to take on multiple zombies without backup, but you'll be able to ration your food for much longer on your own.
Currently approaching midnight in Day 2, have been holed up in a room with 4 fridges and a dresser to be used as barricades. I raided the surrounding houses early on and have 14 food items so i'm pretty much set, just trying to improve my barricades as much as possible before midnight hits.
Plus if they aren't following you, they're out wandering around becoming bait for zombies.
I have enough food to last me a couple days, but venturing out of my safe house is becoming more and more dangerous. My last trip out almost entirely consisted of me running through the city away from 10+ zombies, never having time to stop and grab anything. I barely made it back to my safe house with 2 HP, and I don't want to leave again. I'm going to hole up and sleep/eat until i'm back to full health, then attempt to leave and set up another safe house in this district.
I think the creator saw the facepunch thread and basically just kept on trucking just for us! :3:
Meet Scott McAllister, the undead's worst nightmare. On day 18 now, my safe house is perfectly locked down and stocked with tons of body armour, weapons and food. I wake up in the early morning, grab my shovel and a few pistols, and head outside and start doing my part to rid this district of zombies. I'll go around the entire district, boarding up any windows left standing and killing any zombie dumb enough to step into my vision.
The longer you survive, the easier this game gets. I have body armour to protect me, 19 HP and maxed out Agile+Strong, so I can basically go around and bash zombies in without taking a hit. If I do get hit, usually it's only 2-4 damage, and I have enough medkits to heal away any injuries. I'm trying to get this district populated with enough civilians to fight off the midnight zombie rush, but it's hard. Most civilians have nowhere left to hide (my safe-house is the only building with doors still intact), and when midnight rolls around they get caught and killed on the street.
How easily do you think I could kill a sleeping char member?
I don't like how you're just thrown into the zombie infested city. It'd be nice if you could have a normal day before the outbreak to stock up and scout the surrounding buildings before you get swarmed.
But if you're just stocking up beforehand wouldn't people question you?
"Hey why are you taking all my groceries?"
"Well there's going to be an outb- oh never mind you'll find out tomorrow"
"Why are you taking my doors and windows?"
"Normally I would explain myself but seeing as you would be a potential zombie.."
*Beats the shit out of them with a shovel*
"See you tomorrow. Dead, that is."
There are always paranoid people that prepare for these things. The difference being, this time it's real.
