Eh, my best score so far after two days:
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/672662/RS060910.png[/img_thumb]
I holed up in a gun store, a general store in that same region, moved two regions away and holed up in a grocery store, after one of those neophytes broke in and wrecked the fuck out of the place (I swear they're searching for me and me alone) I went out scouting with my trusty baseball bat (By this time I could 3 hit normal zombies without taking a scratch and 1 hit skeletons, masters might do 1-3 damage), found an army vest and basically became untouchable, went around the region (Which was going into it's like 10th or 11th day so there was dead biker and gaurd drops all over the place) and looted everywhere because like everybody was dead (Where were all those survivors? F9 said there was over 30 but I only saw 2 or 3 :raise:). Suddenly army choppers dropped a fuckton of supply drops (Seriously there was like 5 in the same day, I have a grocery store full of food in the area what do I need rations for). As I was getting sleepy and my last HQ got destroyed I started going through regions looking for a new store (4 green districts in a row...) I came to a business district, and as I was running down the street 3 zombie masters jumped me and (Conveniently) my army vest decides to break off and I run out of stamina so I'm trying to walk away and they take this opportunity to devour my flesh. Good times.
There really need to be some sort of way to beat this. If you barricade yourself up the only way you're going to die is if you go out looking for trouble.
I was in a raided store with some other guys and one offered to trade a bat for a bat? Also, someone gave me a rifle for a bat that they dropped.
This game is awesome.
i like to imagine that people trading groceries for groceries don't like what's in their bag
kind of like kids at lunch
Game is really difficult.

A good strategy is to get to a shopping district, find the biggest grocery store, move all but a few of the shelves in front of the door, make a little room in the back that you horde all the groceries in (assuming there is more people than just you in there) and seal yourself into it with the rest of the shelves. Then w until you need to sleep or eat. While waiting and leveling focus on melee weapons (No ammo :smug: however they do break so I would carry around 2 or 3 baseball bats) and hopefully by the time you run out of food you can survive on your own and there will be enough loot in the area to sustain you.
Yeah I've been doing that, it really helps now that I know how to fire my guns. V:v:V

Damnit I was just about to post that. Tried that earlier but ended up getting killed when a zombie broke in through my barricades and started attacking. Apparently zombies travel in packs because a few more of the assholes shambled in and started bashing my shelves. As I tried to juke my way out I got killed due to already being low hp and since I was in a small general store having one exit kind of screwed me over. I was pissed when I died because the national guard had just entered to the south shortly after the zombies broke in.
After I survive for at least a week I'm going to try and collect and train some followers and see if they actually make a difference when you release a few of them.
my best survival was 8 days. i died after finding a horde in front of a supply drop.
I'm proud of my new high score. Compare Jake Lee to my 2nd best with Jeffrey Reeves.

I had this amazing HQ in some run down store. There were 2 cars blocking all but the zombie masters on either side of the entrance so it was relatively safe. I pushed some shelves and blocked off a corner of the store that only I could enter by pushing a shelf so I could move diagonally into a little space. I would make trips into the center of the district and return with groceries and medkits if I found any. When I returned I sealed up my HQ and got some shut eye. Every time I left my HQ I would cultivate a survivor and release them when they had learned a new skill. After a week there were a few national guard romping about so I would occasionally lure a zombie or two into a squad to help clear the streets. Something that amused me was that there was a national guard soldier that patrolled the inside of my store. It was odd because usually the national guard sticks together but this guy was just walking down the aisles of my store... protecting my HQ? That's what I like to think. Unfortunately at one point I strayed too far from HQ and a disciple chased me down. I really don't like disciples. Amazing game, I probably won't play it again until the next version... it's a very entertaining way to spend some time.
3.1 is out, yes im late but,
1. i was banned
2. this thread is (if you are reading this WAS) on page 9 and deserved a bump before it fell into eternity.
3. you possibly dont know
roguesurvivor.blogspot.com
check 3.1 out guys, it is fucking sweet! (unless you make it to week 3, not leaving your starting district at all, only to have your game crash due to a zombie attemping a human action (closing doors), just like my game did.)
Hooray for an update. This game is fun and with the update, looks like I'll play it again.
Has anyone discovered the easter egg that was added in 3.1? I've found the new item which is nifty but not very useful. Once again my game crashed when I reached around 10,400 messages which is really annoying.
Here's a fun "game mode" to try. Go to options, turn off undead evolution, raise max undead to 250+ and you may want to lower max civilians. Leave all other settings to default and see how long you can last.
I keep playing this game less and less, I don't know why though.
Fuck yeah! New update
Green districts are the hardest to survive in.

The parks are horrible for making store shelf walls.
The parks are horrible for making store shelf walls.
That would be a challenge to say the least. Parks are so deadly because the zombies clump up on the fence and the zombie masters flush you out into the horde of undead. Also, fuck SpecOps.
BlackOps were easy to kill, what weapons do SpecOps have? Every time I walked past one I get shot down to 3hp.
BlackOps were easy to kill
You say that - first time I ran into one, killed me in one shot from about 8 tiles away. Feels bad man.
Oh, AND, I had been playing for five hours. Had a great big hideout full of loot... so many army rifles. Sigh.
Incidentally, a wild TILESET appears. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2529 If you don't like the original graphics I HIGHLY recommend it. Hell, even if you do, I still recommend it.
thank god 3.2 is coming out, i survived to week 4 only to crash by a zombie attempting the scream action
thank god 3.2 is coming out, i survived to week 4 only to crash by a zombie attempting the scream action
I wish you hadn't said that... I played for hours last night with no problems, and now in fifteen minutes this has happened three times, after reading your post. :(
Hopefully 3.2 gets rid of all the bugs and glitches.

I believe they only have an army rifle with 20 ammo. The new item they carry is the z-tracker which basically shows any undead within 10 tiles as red dots on your minimap. SpecOps usually have maxed firearms and agile(?). Also if you read this roguedjack, there are a few bugs that can be abused that you don't have listed on the blog.
1: You can sit in a corner and constantly sleep even when your sleep bar is full. Combine this with a bed and you can heal to max hp+never have to worry about getting attacked while sleeping.
2: Z-tracker; similar to above, flick it on and off to use its ability but the battery never drains.

Pretty fun game, i wish there was a Mac version so i could play it on my iCrap laptop while I'm not at home.
Woke up beside a skeleton, promptly ran out of that shithole, found a homie, died.
Making a bunch of re-skins for this game, since it's fucking awesome. I'll take any requests you guys have, just let me know what item you want skinned and what you want it skinned into. If you want a specific style (such as no outlines or like the default etc) then let me know :D Doing a pack for my own wants at the moment.
Edit:
Currently re-skinning the shotgun to be a Mossberg 500. :D
Edit2:
Trying to figure out how to get transparency to work right. When I skinned the shotgun, the white background appeared instead of it being transparent. Hmmm...
Rogue Survivor: Pacman edition. You are pacman and the undead are variants of ghosts. Not sure if that would even work.

Oh god, this game can seriously get depressing. I was barricaded in a small grocer at the SE most point of a shopping district with another guy, Mike Trevor. We managed to hold down that one building for 7 days, until one day when I was out salvaging from a helicopter aid thing. I returned to the store only to find that the shelving unit that I put in place of the door had been destroyed. Thinking that a skeleton had managed to breach the building, I went in expecting to find Mike there with another dead skeleton body, but instead found 2 master zombies, a dark zombie, and the zombified remains of my buddy Mike.
I'm currently holed up in the same store with the dead body of my survival buddy outside of the front door. :smith:

On a side note, it says that screenshots are saved in the installation folder, yet I can't seem to find it (the screenshot, I mean). Anyone know?
