Good idea. I usually try to avoid them at all costs, the more zombies they're killing is less I have to worry about. If you're going to hunt them leave your follower to guard your base so they don't stumble into the path of a salvo. I hate when I cultivate a follower for a few days and he has plenty of skills and equipment but dies for some ridiculous reason.

Yeah, A4 looks to be cool, and especially if you can crush people with the subway gates! Although I probably won't reside in one since I HATE underground areas such as subways, sewers etc.

Indeed. My first character woke up on day 0 without a single undead enemy in sight. Just loads of civilians either wandering aimlessly in the street wondering what the hell was happening. Nothing did until day 1.
Another character woke up with a skeleton immediately to the south-east and a baseball bat and a few characters later, the building I woke up in consisted of lots of small rooms between me and the street. Nearly every damn door had a zombie behind it and the survivors kept getting in my way.
It'd be really cool if you could kill survivors, in the event they get annoying as fuck or steal stuff.
New blog post. Alpha 4 looking better and better. Should be interesting to see how the police station changes gameplay. Update to tracking equipment is useful for seeing exactly where the person you're tracking is on the actual game screen instead of guessing from the minimap. Really like the idea of the fortifications, should be very useful. If the zombies destroy your fortification I'm guessing you can just pick the planks back up and reconstruct it.

Except for the fact that the concept of the slow moving zombie is what gives zombie games their horror.
It isn't the fact that zombies have omg superpowers or are incredibly fast that make them scary. It's the fact that, inevitably, they outnumber you 1000 to 1. That's why Valve doesn't use the word 'zombie', they use the word 'infected'.

In a typical zombie apocalypse scenario, what world war z describes is likely what would happen. At least in the broad scale of things, like what I said.

Slow moving zombies are better than Infected. Infected are "Hurr durr we run fast and beat people up". Zombies are inevitable, nothing can stop them, nothing to stop the thousands of undead slowly coming towards you, inevitably going to kill you.
Am I supposed to be able to see a map in the lower right corner? Because right now all I see is the little dot that represents me and a black background.
edit: Upon reading the FAQ it seems that this crappy intel graphics card I'm using at the moment is to blame. Oh well.

overall, I havent seen another survivors for 2 days (the last one I saw was a nat.guard without ammo asleep in the middle of the road) there are nat.guard zombies and neophytes everywhere. shit. I can't try to get out of my safehouse because glowing skeletons and zombie lords cut me down. what do I do?
also, I'd too like to kill annoying survivors. some bob mcgread got in my first safehouse while I was away and when I returned I saw him running away with food and guns.

All skeletons are relatively easy to deal with, shoot them before they can get close enough to you and you're fine. This mainly applies to the skeletons which are faster than you. The lower tier skeletons can easily be handled with melee weapons. My advice to you is to wait for the next national guard squad to arrive and immediately run to their location. Any zombie lords chasing you will quickly be dispatched when you are safely behind a fresh squad with loaded army rifles. Take that time to search for any food you can scrounge up and get sleep while you can.
It's a lot harder now that groceries can rot.

Once you reach the point where army rations start appearing food isn't much of a problem.
