This game owns, I love how you can pick up tons of empty pistols and trade them for fully loaded shotguns. Then the guy you traded with drops the empty pistol, so you pick it up and trade it for his other fully loaded shotgun. :downs:
I can't download it from Megaupload, can OP update the link on Mediafire?
This is just dumb. There doesn't seem to be much more depth than what I'm getting, and all that's happening is I'm getting mobbed by maybe 1 or 2 zombies, and I'm either pathetic with a melee weapon or stuck with a crappy shotgun or pistol... What's the appeal in this? [editline]12:31AM[/editline] Seriously, all this is is just running around, slowly dying, until you get killed by a couple zombies. Where's the fun? One zombies just took out half my health. Guns only carry 7 or whatever ammo? What the fuck, they don't even do that much damage.
This isn't a mindless shoot em up. This is a survival game. Where you must survive not get into pointless fights. Grow a fucking brain.
It's not very hard to survive, even at level one. I just go around smashing up zombies now because I've maxed everything else out.
I barricaded myself in a general store with four other people. Can't one of them starve to death and then turn to a zombie?
I know the problem now. I can't install this game because I can't for some reason install .NET framework SP1. So... yeah.
He said that he will release Alpha 3 soon.

Just mind you that RLs aren't for everyone.
For me, it's the same thing I've found fun in other roguelikes. You start off a bit clueless and explore a lot, figuring how things interact with each other. As you die and learn from your mistakes, you find new ways to be more efficient at surviving, killing the other bastard(s) before they kill you, and reaching whatever goal there may be. So yeah, steep learning curve, exploration/experimentation, challenging combat, randomly generated environments, and in some cases, sandbox elements. Take your pick, I guess. 'Course, every one is a little different. DoomRL might be more your speed if you're not squeamish about ASCII graphics. It's far more developed and fast-paced than this one. Makes great use of audio (including music) too, something I don't see a lot of in roguelikes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oua0VgI9ZlM&fmt=22 There's also Spelunky, which is played as an old-school platformer instead, and might apply better to you. I could go on, really. :v: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJPIFKSkuT8&fmt=18
Aw man I already love Spelunky. But DoomRL looks cool, and ASCII doesn't bother me, so I'll look into that.
This isn't a mindless shoot em up. This is a survival game. I like using followers as human meatshields. But I always die when I'm running around and get surrounded. How is everyone barricading entire districts?
I like using followers as human meatshields. But I always die when I'm running around and get surrounded. How is everyone barricading entire districts?
You can block off large sections of districts if you use shelves from a store. Zombies rarely try to smash them and they can't see through them so they work great as road blocks. For buildings just barricade the windows/doors facing the outside. You can also bring NPCs into your area and as long as you blocked off all exits, they'll stay in the area you have, allowing you to create a "community" of sorts. Alpha 3 sounds like it'll be much, much more enjoyable:
Alpha 3 changes --------------------- FIXED BUGS - Stacking items in full inventory works properly. - Dropping items on full ground inventory try to stack then remove oldest item. - Post mortem on more than one page works correctly. - Barricading when there is someone there is not allowed. - Undeads now correctly see Army as enemies. - Fixed a rare crash in map generation caused by bad rng. - Attacking a door don't bypass the barricade anymore. - Various typos. Have fun!

Do national guards shoot you?
They haven't done that to me, at least. Indeed, I hung around them for a while after they tore up a mob chasing me. Group was all armed with shovels and not guns at the time. Maybe that has something to do with it?
No, I tagged around with them for a long time.
Got time to kill since i am loading a district of 1000523, got time to kill
Quick Notice, anyone who added me add me again because I just realized that my FacePunch account uses information from my old account.
Suggestion to the creator: Perhaps have a hack mode, where you can force the weather? I'd love to have Heavy Rain all the time. :3:
WE NEED CHEATS! For when we get bored and want to mess around more than normal.
How the fuck do i uninstall this shit? i want to play v3
No idea. I am thinking about running a virtual machine EVERY time I want to play it. Stupid fucker won't uninstall. AT ALL!
Go to registry, delete keys relating to the game. Delete game files. Done.
Tell me how to get there? never had to do that much to uninstall something before? Windows 7 btw. Edit, got there but where the fuck do i go?
Can't you guys just go control panel > programs > rogue > uninstall? works for me.. [editline]03:01PM[/editline] And you gotta delete the RF Alpha 2 folder in your documents, too
Keybind screen is all screwed up now, keys from Lead down to Redefine Keys are all off
Off to a good start with my new game. Some old geezer traded me his HUNTING RIFLE (Fully loaded i may add) for a cell phone, I had three cell phones so I gave him one. Cell phones are like free vouchers in this game :v:
Keybind screen is all screwed up now, keys from Lead down to Redefine Keys are all off
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuu I was going to sleep. I'l fix that asap. :woof: For people who have problems with install, remember to uninstall the old version first.
