Here's whats wrong with it:
1. Games list isn't space efficient. I liked the idea of being able to say ALL of my games on one list, with little scrolling. I'm not a fan of having to scroll and see huge banners and whatnot.
2. Everything isn't equal in size or shape. Consistency is one thing I like best, and there is none in the new steam UI.
3. The friends window is a pain in the ass to bring up if it's in the background. I used to click the bottom of the window and it would make it active, but now they've moved up the "Add Friend" button, so every time I click that now.
4. It uses more RAM and cache because of all the special effects, like fading. Some people still have average PC's, like me, though nobody should have to suffer because I have a lower end PC, I feel that when you're designing a client you should have more options.
That about sums up my complaints.
Didn't know Steam UI was a game, but eh.
It does take up a lot more ram than I'd like too, I only have 2g of ram, though I plan to upgrade, because I have 2 free slots (:, need a new OS then though.

How much ram do you have? 2GB is running steam and games alright here
I've been using it since the beginning of the beta
So have I, and I must say, you may think it is not that functional but look around they have added some pretty great things, like a download tab which tells you your peak download and allows you to see all the games and such downloading without having to scroll through you're library.
It tells you a lot more info about the game, Shows updates and news concerning the game at the bottom and Who is currently playing it or people who on it on you're friends list, Lets you choose from three or four different views from you're library.
They upgraded the in game browser to use web-kit, and I'm not sure but they might have made the store use web-kit too. Along with a few other cool and nice things.

I also converted half my friends list around the first of March

I personally have 2GB also and now my games occasionally freeze. My Borderlands froze 5 times yesterday, which has never happened before the new Steam so I am not sure what else I can blame. Someone else I know has an overclocked i7, 9GB of RAM and a 5870 and his steam games lag a bit the new Steam also (and usually he didn't get any lag at all on any game with that setup obviously.)
So I personally think the new steam does have some performance issues that need to be addressed. I'll accept that it did have to be released to find out some improvements as the Beta could only help them so much considering a lot of us, myself included, tried the Beta and switched back after about an hour.
I'm getting used to it. Only thing I don't like are those boxes in the overlay.

He has a setup like that and his steam games lag? What in unholy god of shit is that? It have never lagged or anything for me, with a more shittier build.
Love the in-game interface, dislike the new location of the friends list button.
Its not bad, but i would much prefer a choice.

They never lagged before the new update, which is why he can only really blame that. It has me stumped too considering it can handle any game with everything completely full. His games that are not launched through Steam also work like a charm on maxed settings.
Anyone know if there is any method to limit how much memory the application uses (like you can with Photoshop but that gives you the option to itself.) It could help see if it is really the new Steam's fault or not. We live at the same place so I can just tell him. Thanks if anyone knows. <3
I'm likc itt
It could use some improvement, but the drastic change is better than it was before.
The only thing I don't like is some options are only accessible via the tray icon.
i love the new ui
It's pretty much better in every conceivable way except for one...
Fucking messaging sounds.
Also, the download manager alone is worth the switch.
I like it a lot. I find it more organized.
It is okay, unresponsive sometimes in the store.
gradients suck, font choice suck, aa on chat text suck, game list suck. its scukc
If you don't like the new UI, you don't have taste.

yeah, fuck opinions
yeah, fuck opinions
No, it's pretty much a fact.
yeah, fuck opinions
My opinion is that people who don't like the new UI literally have no taste.
[editline]08:41PM[/editline]
And apparently I share that opinion with 4/5ths of the people who have voted in this poll.
More like 5/6ths
Been using the beta since it came out, I like it.
No, it's pretty much a fact.
you're completely unaware of what a fact is right
I love it and have no problems with it, other than the fact that it hangs occasionally.
Most of the people bitching about missing features haven't figured out where everything has been moved to, as far as I know there is no loss in functionality from the old UI.
