DK3 trailer
I remember that one :(
This is my absolutestestest bestest favouritest game everrrr. :911:
I dreamed about a game similar to this, I wasted countless hours on this wonderful game. If you like this, check out Startopia, gameplaywise it feels like a mix between Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper
This is one of the first games I ever played. Oh, and Theme Hospital.
I played this game for long.
This game was sweet, I'm gonna rummage around later and see if I can find the CD.
This will not work unless you are a talented programmer on vista.
This will not work unless you are a talented programmer on vista.
I remember making it work on Vista Home Premium, and I'm no talented programmer. Sadly that was quite some time ago so I don't remember how I did (it took some work to get it going though, I remember that). [editline]03:30PM[/editline] Wait, are we talking about DK1 or 2? Don't know about the first on Vista, I only know that the second can work.
I will be your sex slave forever if you manage to run this on Vista and tell me how.
there is a win xp/vista compatibility guide on the interwebz. here it is, now get gaming, and don't use win 95 compatibility since it slows down the curser. http://ntcompatible.com/Dungeon_Keeper_1_working_under_Windows_XP_t34812.html#173839 again this works with D3D too. oh and for dk2 on vista or xp, youll have to go in the registry. somewhere under software/bullfrog youll find DK2, then find the video tab and change the ENGINE value, i don't remember what it is by default, but i know one is openGL and the other is D3D, and another thing is i don't remember if the vaues for it is 0 and 1 or 1 and 2 but what ever it is set to, change it to one of the other and it should change renderer and work, sorry for not being presise but i do not remember the path clearly. this will cost you all 10$ each.
http://kotaku.com/5334418/ea-looking-at-classic-bullfrog-titles-though-not-for-remakes
I dear god hope they are considering a Dungeon Keeper 3
DK is one of my all time favourite games... it was just so perfect. Fuck EA for buying out Bullfrog.

I hate how people compare Overlord to this game, it's nothing like DK.
READ THIS GUYS EA Bright Light boss Harvey Elliot would "love" to see classic Bullfrog games like Populous and Theme Park remade for today's systems. "For me, I love the old Bullfrog IP, it got me really passionately into games, and I'm really proud that Bullfrog is part of the heritage of Bright Light," Elliot told Kikizo. "I'm personally a huge fan of Populous and Theme Park, they were some of my favourite games - many years ago, obviously - and I'd love to see both of those remade." Harvey said that the studio is likely to look at the viability of recreating Bullfrog franchises in the future, but it's important to reassess classic IP realistically rather than through rose-tinted spectacles. "The thing is, the romance of the idea is often detached from the reality of executing it. If you remember all the old classics you played, if you go back and play them now, they're not the same," he offered. "They were right for their time, and the trick with those games is coming up with what's right for the time now. "I'm going to look at them at some point, I think there's an opportunity to bring those back in the future, but only if it's right for the time and not just a 'remake' or something. We'd need to do it in a way that's true to the original values, but would still make a great game today." Other classic Bullfrog IP includes Powermonger and Magic Carpet. A new title in the Syndicate series is also in the works at The Chronicles of Riddick studio Starbreeze. [editline]06:49PM[/editline] now we can choose!! CHOOSE FOR DK 3 !!!!!!!!!
I already said that.
Ehh... EA, that means there is going to be a chance of it being either really good, or really shitty.
I love the music in the games :D And the intros were kick ass.
This will not work unless you are a talented programmer on vista.
Allow me to prove you wrong.
I will be your sex slave forever if you manage to run this on Vista and tell me how.
I run this on Vista, and I'll tell you how, free of charge. Wrote this just for you.
1. Insert CD. (I don't remember how to do this by mounting an image. I guess the same thing would apply if you just replaced x x:\ with the virtual drive your image is mounted on, but I'm not sure. If you have an image and that didn't work, just burn it to a blank CD and do all dis) 2. Download DosBox if you don't have it. You can get it here. 3. Open dosbox, and type the following. (Yes, you have to set it up through DosBox or it will not work.)
mount x x:\ -t cdrom (x being the physical drive your CD is in) mount c c:\ (it will say something like "this is not reccomended," just ignore this) x: setup
4. Select English or whatever language applies and install the game, then install sound. 5. Exit setup, close dosbox. 6. Open dosbox. Type the following.
mount x x:\ -t cdrom mount c c:\keeper (this is the default installation directory) c: keeper
7. Enjoy. Just make sure to have the disc in whenever you want to play. 8. If you installed it to a sub-directory, like c:\games\keeper, then type this
mount x x:\ -t cdrom mount c c:\games c: cd keeper keeper
9. If your sub directory has a space in it, like if you installed it in program files, then use this mount c c:\progra~1 (first six letters, or first word, followed by ~1)
Alternatively, you can use this method. I didn't make this one, but I did test it and it works wonderfully. Just a note for the above method - Step 9 is a bit unclear. You don't right click your saved database file, you right click the new database on the left sidebar in the program itself. Also, you can get Dungeon Keeper 2 to work on XP and probably Vista too, but the issue most people experience is serious rendering issues, such as the entire screen being black with only the menu visible. I've figured out a way to fix this, but it won't work on some computers, as it all depends on your display drivers. You have to go to Display properties, Advanced, and Troubleshoot. Disable hardware acceleration. If you get the following, "Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration," then you're fucked. I know absolutely no other way to get Dungeon Keeper 2 to work. It doesn't work on my desktop. :smith:
DK3 trailer
Dungeon Keeper 3 is vaporware
Who can forget:
I love this intro, it's so awesome. I fucking loved Dungeon Keeper 2.
This will not work unless you are a talented programmer on vista.
Or you have the common sense to run it using Dosbox.
I fucking love the Dungeon Keeper series! I'm annoyed at how I can't play Dungeon Keeper II in multiplayer without it crashing on me randomly though. It's annoying as christ to be playing and then 10 minutes in for absolutely no reason it just completely screws you over and kicks everyone out. Other than that this is one of my favourite series and I really do want them to bring out Dungeon Keeper 3. I don't give a damn about the Dungeon Keeper MMO other than that it may be paving the way for Dungeon Keeper 3. So I do hope it does well.
I loved 1 and 2, I was so disappointed when I found out 3 was canceled. The possession spell was my favorite feature, I love getting my creatures to follow me into a huge fight in first person.
