Brutes were given that french phrase something leblanche or other to mass kill all Elites, so of course they didn't show up.
And the Elite's honor was too powerful, so they joined up with the UNSC to fight the covenant. Hunters, Drones, Grunts, and brutes stayed loyal to the prophets. Engineers don't count towards either faction, they help out whoever they are with.
And the trailer was awesome. Can't wait for the game.

There were few elites in Halo 3 too, I could be wrong, but I counted no more then 8-10 of them in the entire game. And only 6 or so hunters. This is going by Normal mode.

The book, they were the ones that fought the humans at harvest considered the "first" conflict.
As for the elites in Halo 3 this was because they were your allies, and like marines they come few and far between. It seems to me the war wouldn't hurt them that much
unless they started fighting amongst themselves. The elites rapped the Brutes during space battles, and the Brutes could only just win in ground battles due to shear strength.
I think the Brutes make horrible adversaries, they're crude, horrible tacticians, and udderly predictable. When I fought elites in Halo 1, and 2 I swear sometimes they did things that
made me think they were real. As for Brutes;
1. shoot off armor
2. shoot in head or if you miss he charges, you sidestep and sticky him.
Rinse and repeat for every fing Brute

For the person looking for landfall movies; just search halo 3 live action ads there were quite a few of them, I think that's what he meant.
I still don't think we will be seeing any brutes in Reach, the book almost exclusively dealt with elites and the old familiars.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yours is certainly without merit. And the cinematography was on par with Cloverfield, and during the battles Black Hawk Down, so those
must both be terrible as well. As for CGI District 9 used less money than did the craptastic GI-Joe, so if you want to talk about no story and lots of CGI...

There is only one, it's just all the short live actions scenes put together. There
is also a Museum series out too that follows the lives of Marines decades after the
war but those are really short. Here's the real cool museum set piece they built to advertise Halo 3:
There's a longer version out accompanied by beautiful piano music, its a really fine work of art (surprisingly!)
A hell of a lot of time must have gone into it since it is actually a real display.
