I don't think that is even suits as a theory. They made it, ofcourse they are familiar with it. Modders made trainers with huge amount of functions after 1 month. And they didn't have source code or knowledge on the engine.
The real reason is that they experimented with realism and seriouseness, to see how player-base will react. It failed and they added some cheats like god mode to RDR, but you can't save when you use them - this is still an experiment, but I think that giving you a lot of fun crazy and un-serious things and not be able to save your game after that is better than not give you them at all. I don't save after I play for laughs anyway.
Yeah, they made it - but probably not enough. I do somewhat agree with what you said about the trainers, however. It's either that or R* didn't know how to make it function in-game correctly. They added the ability to save a cheat save for RDR in a title update/patch, however.
All-in-all, I half-agree with what you said.

They made the engine, I'm pretty sure the lack of cheats isn't due to Rockstar not knowing how to make them function within their own game.
I can get high quality settings on my GTX 260 core 216, Phenom II X4 965, 4gb RAM, and get 60 in some areas, 50 in most, and like 45-50 at night with nighttime shadows on lowest it goes I believe.
Could you screenie your settings? I have double that and am getting not half. 25 fps if I'm lucky.

gta has always been about american culture
I found an amazing thing while playing GTA IV the other day
A civilized game of free mode

Impossible!
GTA2 will always be in my heart :3:
Remember playing it for the Playstation 1.
I love using mods in multiplayer non-ranked free mode, setting my car damage to visuals only and ramming it at high speeds against walls just to watch it deform :v:
I wish Niko and his cousin would speak actual Serbian together and have their conversations subbed or something, it's like cheesy movies that are set in another country and everybody speaks English there.

Bullshit.
gtaiv on xbox live = terrible
gtaiv on psn = bad
gtaiv on social club on pc (?) = borderline decent
[editline]23rd November 2010[/editline]
the first free mode game I had on pc was the best
me and some guy got in a helicopter, he flew, I gunned, everybody else went on to the rotterdam tower and it was me and him vs them
we took out most of them but our tail got shot off and we had a hard landing on happiness island :(
he didn't make it D:

It didn't fail, tons ofpeople enjoyed the new direction, me included.
The reason behind this is because Rockstar was unfamiliar with their engine, not having much knowledge to it. That explains why GTA IV is more limited than San Andreas.
Some cheats don't matter about the engine so much. For example god mode would be easy to add.

Except for London which I hear is about English people making fun of American Culture.

I got an idea for thread titles:
We can use Pedestrian lines and other dialog.
[editline]23rd November 2010[/editline]
Titles won't be needed quite yet though.

Check that out, it is a great resource. Anyways, who is up for all of us getting into a bus in free mode and going on a killing spree?
Anyone else think GTA V could be set in a bunch of different places? Like how San Andreas did it, except with like wayy more cities.
Nooo, the more expanded the land is the more sparse the detail. I'd rather have a small city bustling with interactivity and detail than a huge map that feels more like a flight sim (Just Cuase 1). I think San Andreas was a good mix of size and detail.

Nobody?
Ah...I bought a bunch of weapons and stuff in TBoGT SP and now I'm down to about $100. Gonna have to do Drug Wars and other stuff to get money.

I just launched the game to check, I forgot I changed it to medium. Disregard my previous post. I'll get a pic of the settings.
EDIT:
Actually, here they are: Medium everything, 1600 X 900, 4x anisotropic (This is Episode Of Liberty City), 50 View distance, 31 detail distance, 35 car density, Definition on, V sync on.
60fps in some areas, 50 in most, and like 45-50 at night with nighttime shadows on medium.
How do you get mods on the Steam version of GTA4?
If you like playing as a cop, I recommend this to you. It's really fun and basically just adds on to the vigilante missions. Only problem is that you'll have to start a new game.
LCPD First Response is much better.
I'm bored so I'm downloading GTA2 for nostalgia's sake.
How do you get mods on the Steam version of GTA4?
I don't know, but I ended up buying and playing the retail one because I couldn't download GTA IV on my satellite internet connection because of size.
I still haven't used mods.
Who else thinks GTA V should be set in Vice city?
It would be a stunning atmosphere, Night clubs, Cars, Beaches, Lights and the ocean
It should also be set in 1980's just for the music :v:

They'll probably end up redoing the old cities before going on to new cities.
So Vice City and San Andreas can be realistic.

What I have always thought
GTA3- Liberty city
GTA Vice city- Vice city
GTA SA- San Andreas
GTA4- Liberty city
GTA V- Vice city
GTA ?- San Andreas
Hopefully GTA V will be worth the wait.

Maybe in the IV era they do two episodes per game as well?
1-era - Liberty City/San Andreas/Vice City +2 expansions and a portable game
2-era - "Anywhere City" and a portable game
III-era - Liberty City, Vice City, San Andreas +2 "Stories" and a portable game
IV-era - Liberty City +2 expansions and a portable game
V-era - ??? and a portable game
VI-era (lol) - same deal with III-era
That's how I picture it.

V era is gonna suck.
Or else it'll be the best 2 game era ever.
Or else it'll be the best 2 game era ever.
Yes, this - until/if a VI-era is existent and follows what I think.
