Happened to me today in SMP when no one was on.
I applied to be whitelisted on a server, waited about a week, then went on the DynMap while an admin was on the server. I asked what's up with the whitelist, and he said that he wasn't accepting any new people on the whitelist for the time being. Then a group of 2-3 people who had posted right before me on the thread (literally, I was right at the cut off, was on the official MC forums btw), so anyway, 5 minutes after he tells me this, those 3 people ask to have a few of their friends whitelisted, admin says OK. Suddenly their 6 friends join the server, so I wtf and just leave.
It's funny, but I'll let him have all those hackers. (Not meaning to sound ragey, but I knew all their names from a factions server I'd been on, a whole faction of 20-30 people died in about a day because their higherups were found to be massive dupers, crashing the whole server whenever a certain chunk was loaded.)

So one day i went on this one survival server (no duh) and built a house. The rules said you cannot build a house 50 blocks near another persons house. When i got it finished, i went gathering some stuff and when i came back, some guy had built a house made of planks RIGHT next to mine. I asked "Why did you built your house right next to mine? Its againts the rules.". The he said "no u buitl urs next to mine". I called in the admins and the other guy said "dis guy buitl his home rite next to mine" and for some stupid reason, the admins didnt ask for my opinion and i got insta-banned.
Stuff like that doesnt really make me mad, but what really made me mad is that the guy built his "home" out of my house's walls. Yes, he ripped the walls and roof off my house and used them to create his own.
One time I was on a server, and nighttime came. So I made a house of dirt 3 blocks high and built an underground room in case I needed to escape. I wait till morning, and find at least 7 creepers surrounding my house. I went down to my underground room, but a creeper blew the wall out. So I went upstairs and closed off the way to the underground room. After ten minutes of waiting, a creeper blew out my wall. So I ran and almost got attacked by another player, but he decided not to fight me because I didn't have any weapons.

I remember one time, I invited my friend to the multiplayer server I like to play on a lot. Unfortunately, we wanted to play separate, so my friend borrowed his friend's account and it went fine. The next day, (which was April Fool's Day) I told my friends that were on the server that my best friend was going on and they said that they would like to meet him too, so we met at spawn for my friend.
About 3-5 minutes later, my friend was coming, but said that there was going to be a problem.
Me: What's wrong?
Friend: Ummmmm...
Me: What's up?
Friend: The skin...
Me: What about the skin?
And then right when my friend was going to tell me, about the skin, he was done loading and BAM! Everyone on the server was saying, "Ewwww," and, "Wtf man?" My friend's friend threw a prank on my friend, and replaced his skin mod so he was completely nude. The admin came and gave him some iron armor, and after that, I didn't go on 'till the week after that because I knew that my friends were going to think about me and my friend weirdly.

I had all my chests locked, so that only admins can open them and keep in mind that my house is far far away from anyone else on the server. This mod comes by breaks the locks off all my chests and raids them. So then when i ask him about it he teleports to me and kills me stealing the rest of my shit, then has the audacity to jail and mute me for "client hacking" I think ill stick to single player for now on.

I'm willing to bet the server had a "Donate 4 Admin privileges" feature.
Most that have abusive admins do.
I was browsing the MC Forums, this was before I knew MC Forums was filled with dicks. I found this server where the admin posted and said it was some Communism Roleplay Server. I remember in GMod, I did some HL2 roleplay back a few years ago. When I got to the bottom of the OP in the thread, I quickly copied and pasted the form and replied with my details, etc.
After posting my details to get the whitelist off, I read the other posts by other people. They were all like "i w@nz adminz ryt now!!!!! i @m s0 mature", etc, etc, etc.
I didn't go on the server ever.
Worst part was I was being spammed emails about how "they never saw me and I should come play in their community". They inboxed me 50 emails 3 days after I signed up. It's been roughly 2 years and my spam inbox is still getting spammed.
Thank god I have a separate main email account.

I joined a server, built a little shithole in the spawn area, really small server, hid out with some bro who gave me some wood and shit. All fine and dandy until this guy showed up.
I dont think he was an admin, but he had admin powers. Turned our house into wool, burned it down. We chased him and trapped him in a little box, but he turned it into wool and burned it around him. He then proceeded to turn EVERYTHING into diamond blocks. "Lol we forgive you bro".
He turned it into tnt. This was when if you hit tnt, it blew up and didnt drop. We blew up the entire damn map besides bedrock. Greatest/worst server experience. Crashed the server like 3 times during the explosion too.
Well, this is a story of what happened to me some weeks ago:
I join my own server, my friend joins too because were tempted to see what changed (i've played on another server). I go in creative modus to fly around. While seeing very nice constructions i've got responses like: "Stop acting like you own everything" and "I dont like you (i doesn't even know him), we all building in survivor mode!". The wierdest part was that he was (between ranting!) saying things like this: "I LIKE THIS SERVER!" and "I PLAY HERE 24/7!".
I responded with logic answers: "I'm just looking what you building while in creative mode. Nothing more." and "So apparently i'm not welcome in my own server?". Afterwards my friend and i laughed hard, because it was just plain silly.
Did not ban (or kick, etc) him and may post log here if i can find it.
digging near lava for valuable minerals when a skeleton archer shoots me. I move only about a blocks distance, but just enough to land in a pit of lava. Lost all my best gear.
Mining with some guy, I find some diamond, and grab it. He asks how much, and I'm like "3." Later there's more by a lava pit, and after I mine it, he pulls a sword on me, and tells me to give him all the diamond or he'll take it. So I dived into the lava pit behind him. He capslocked about it in the chat for the entire Minecraft-day afterwards. Then he was banned for spam. Good end.

The town that me and a friend painstakingly worked on (complete with sewer systems) was completely gone. Apparently some angry german managed to get creative mode and filled the sewers with TNT. He did it with the spawn tower we made, too. At this point me and a few other people were just like "Fuck this, make a new map, and for the love of god set up backups properly this time"
so I did and everything's going well now

Closest thing I had to that (other than the obvious lava griefing) was when I put Lockette on my server. Went into the basement of my fully-intact house and saw a sign by my chests that said "I can't steal this so I'm burning the place down".
My brother let one of his friends on our server and he blew up my multi-story farming complex :(
Joke was on him though, since I used lava for all the lighting and he died in one of the leaks.
Playing on 2b2t, I went off exploring one day and stumbled upon a waterfall. Thinking that someone might have modified this to be a "hidden waterfall base", I went through it and lo and behold there actually was a base there! Well it wasn't really, just an artificial cavern with a chest at the end with lots of valuable shit there. Raid it, and because I was feeling a bit impetuous I left a sign up saying to whoever I stole from that they suck ass and for some stupid reason I left my name on the sign.
Didn't play for a week, but when I came back I went to my own hidden base (quite a bit underground) and my shit got stolen! Well I don't keep my inventory just out there, I hide my crates under the floor at certain positions, and one of my chests got found (got thing I split my stuff between two such chests). Similar sign got left for me. That is fucking karma and I was pissed. The oddest thing was that the person who stole from me was the exact person who I stole from, how the fuck did you find my base.
On this server, there were these two kids. Both had full sets of diamong, swords included. They killed me like 5 times in a row, in my house. But then, they start to befriend me, plunked down beds, and live in my house, and they started making shitty additions to it. If I complained, they'd probably kill me until they could claim my house.
My one friend has a Minecraft server.
Was great. It was private for our clique of friends, we had a giant city built, with hotel apartments, stores, restaurants, all that jazz. It was pretty fancy. We even had an area for building spriteart, which was my favorite thing to do.
Then he made the server public.
Suddenly, little kids everywhere. Memes. Horrible emoticons. The place for creative building was overrun with shitty/meme spriteart, and in general, poorly constructed objects. Everytime I joined, everyone was either being annoying, complaining, accusing others of griefing, or begging for admin/access to the city. I just stopped playing.
The server went down eventually. My friend learned from his mistake. He's going to set it up again, forever private. Those will be happy days.
i was on 2b2t and i got to 100k100k and some guy went "hey man check out my old castle" so i went to it and a skeleton shot me into his massive basement and i lost all my swag. coincidentally beds completely failed as usual and i went right back to spawn. also, one of the best raiders in the server, was slaughtering everyone at spawn. also he broke the nether portals and burned all the trees.
Mine was in 2b2t, too. I recently started in that server, so I'm not too far along. But I got out of spawn, and got very far away (very for any newbie, so in all reality, it wasn't that far). Anyways, I got pretty far away and was half of a meat chunk away from starving, with just 3 hearts left, when I saw a small tree with torches, wheat, and melons. I happily ran over, opened the melon, ate all pieces except two, replanted, then began to make bread. After I was full, I chopped down nearby trees and set up a small hut. Night time fell, and I stayed inside. When dawn came, I walked outside to expand my new little farm, right as I fought off a skeleton that somehow lived under the tree.
I had very little hp left, so I set back to work. After about 5 minutes of farming, I look around, and see that I have progressed quite far. I run over, chop down a few more trees for wood, and make new tools, seeing as my last tools were almost completely degraded. It hasn't even reached mid day yet, and I'm still harvesting some wheat when suddenly I get pushed a little forward.

My worst experience was on a Survival MP server with Hard difficulty... like, a battalion of creepers and zombies coming at me. I just had a wooden sword... :°(
