Hardcore SMP with a perma-deathban. There was this mass killer who was killing everyone and generally ruining it for everyone else. I join up with a group planning to take this guy down. We assemble an army of 7 warriors and plan to ambush him. Only one problem, we had a mole. The leader's right hand man. Instead we were ambushed in our staging area and we were all slaughtered. He laughed at our faces as he cut us down one by one. The worse part was I later learned that I was very close to taking him down and if I could of just drank my Health II pot fast enough I would of beat him.

Splash health potions come in handy for this, assuming you can use it without also affecting your attacker.
Holy crap this thread is still goi- Err, I mean, yesterday. Me and some guys were working on statues to celebrate the science facility me and my friend were building. I built a pyro and a guy modeled for me so I could do a nice looking spider-human cross type thing. Then a few hours later a guy burns the spider one. Why? Because the admins just built a courthouse and jail, and he wanted to cause drama and cause a court scene. The admins knew he didn't, he still wasn't banned.
Were invited by some friends to play on Phantomcraft's server. Adms didn't even knew how to use their own mods.
After some misundestoodings, I left my friend's base and found my own, carving a well decorated home In a mountain.
Then, the adms told us to do some shit about creating a faction... Did It... Right after It, a full diamond set idiot killed me and took my goddamn hard worked house...
"LOLOL I KILLED U XD"
I freaked out, sweared everyone on the server and ragequitted... Goddamn emoticons, they piss me off for real.
My worst experience in my own Minecraft server would probably be when I stepped on a block of gravel and fell to my death in some shitty lava pit that was way down in that cave my friends and I were mining on.
And then there is 2b2t.
I found a nice wheat farm, decided to keep it maintained for a little bit, when I was ready to move on, I did and then I died because of creepers.
Not really the worst experience per say,but it was funny,to say the least:
I found this pretty cool post apocalypse infinite city server on reddit that's basically 2b2t where your spawn is in a random spot in the map and the map generates infinite ruined cities with loads of zombie and sometimes creeper spawners.
Once,I spawned in a jungle area with trees growing between the buildings.I began making a little base in a tree, when I decided to see if anyone was near.
The server used an area-based chat system(you can only hear people from so far away)and you could shout(larger radius)by putting exclamation points into your message, with more of them making the shout "louder".
Thing is,shouting uses up hunger.
I decided to try it out,so:
"HELLO!!!!!!!"
and then I began starving to death.
I quickly made some signs saying how I died and put all my stuff in a chest as my last hearts faded :v:
Oh god I can see it now. Using 50 !'s and just instantly dying.

Sounds fun, do you have the IP?
Worst experience is probably being a server admin.
Looking at my player logs I have 40 people that have joined the server (it's a 5 person server that I've only ever advertised once on here) and out of those 40, 1 is me, 4 are my friends, and 2 are people that have joined the server to build houses and other structures to expand the town and generally contribute.
This leaves 33 people who have joined and grieved the shit out of everything. Luckily I have rollback tools where I can rollback the actions of a specific player instead of the whole map, and a mighty ban-hammer, but only 7 people joining to actually play?! Wow....
If you're interested, the server is 119.17.161.154:25611 and I would still love to get an epic city made, but players have tended to lose interest with almost nobody actually playing properly.

That's about how it was when I ran New Ventlegille, though an even more common problem was "Too much craft, not enough Mine", as in players would log in, build tons of shit until they deplete the storehouse of all building materials (wether it be cobblestone or wood or wool or what-ever) and then either log off and wait a few days hoping the storehouse would be refilled by those who actually went mining and shit (seriously, we had a one-stop underground base for this for everyone's convenience) or they'd complain that they need more materials until they were blue in the face and then leave, possibly never returning. At the same time I'd either get materials myself or, lacking that, pay others to gather certain materials for me (such as pumpkins and clay, back when they were un-farmable/rare), paying in diamonds.
And of course the question always was "HOLY SHIT MAGOO HOW'D YOU GET SO MANY DIAMONDS?!" which got them the shocking truth: I MINED for them and here they are! Amazing how that works!
People were probably just confused, Ventlegille was the "creative" server (no creative mode back then) while New Ventlegille was a survival/RP server where you had to gather your OWN shit (exception being what was provided in the store-house).
So, I was playing Hunger Games today and was doing pretty well. All of the players other then the last three died. I was one of them, and I teamed up with a guy named Bones which was an op. We both had very low level equipment, so we were evenly matched. I knew that one of us would have to die for one of us to win, and because I saw Nod not having really good equipment either I decided to slaughter my friend. I won. You know how these servers have sponsors? Where dead players can give their items to the alive players? Well guess what this oh great op did? He gave Nod a full set of cheated diamond shit. While my sponsor gave me one bow and a stack of arrows. Another sponsor offered me a legit iron set but another op said it wasn't allowed.
After all that I drowned myself, complained and got banned for 5 hours.
10/10 server.

Trying to join so I can help you, but I get the error that the received string is less than zero. Know how to fix it?
Made a huge castle that took me 6 weeks to make. i did it on my free time. when the admin banned me i went to his website and i was banned for "Griefing."
Stole some diamond blocks, was being pursued by diamond-equipped bandits into a large, vertical strip mine with a lava pit one chunk large. Being a self-proclaimed SMP thief, I was prepared for this moment. I jumped from the balcony and started chugging that Potion of Fire Resistance. You should've heard the swearing on their Mumble server as I fell. Because of the ping, I didn't drink it quick enough, and they did, indeed, lose their diamonds permanently.

Haven't seen anyone else with that problem, but I just looked it up and apparently it's a bug with Zone Alarm. Just disable it (assuming you're running it).
That help?
EDIT: also, What I'd really love is for a whole bunch of other villages/towns/estates to pop up around the map from random players. With chest/door protection your stuff won't go missing, and I do the rounds of the map pretty regularly to check for griefing, to which I rollback specific user changes for a certain amount of time. Due to the almost zero growth of the server most players have disappeared, but they've all said they'd come back if more people started adding things.
I was playing on a random minecraft server I found on planet minecraft.com I join and start building my house off in the wilderness and later some kid butts in and says " Hi im goin make a house next to you'rs." That's exactly how he said it in chat. I decide yea sure let's build a little town together. So here I am building a house the way a house should be while this kid is building his house out of mixed blocks (sand, dirt, cobblestone) As soon as I saw his first house I regret letting him join me. So later I start building a saloon/bar whatever you want to call it and the kid helping me build the town asks "Wat is this goin 2 be?" I tell him a bar and he goes "NO NO NO!" I ask him why and tell him it already looks like a saloon" (It has the steps and everything like the ones you see in cowboy movies.) His response was "becaze i said so!" I told him that wasn't a valid reason and he goes " it need to be a house" I retaliate and say "but we already built like six houses! Plus i'm the one who built it!" is final response was " but u alredy have a house" After that I decided to leave everything a move to a new location. One of the admins was willing to give me a large piece of land with a really nice house and a big farm etc.... And later that same little kid was teleported to see what the place looked like and he was begging the admin with his shit grammar if could he live with me. I say fine just because I don't want to be mean. After a few minutes he leaves the server and comes back with the same exact skin I have.
After all that I decided to never join that server again.

Why not just ask the admin to not allow him to build with you? It's the internet who cares if you are mean.
Back on the good old days of browser based creative, I joined a server with a flat map. I decided to build an underground hotel. Well, the idea caught on, And everybody started to add on to my hotel. Once alot of people left the server, I decided to close off the hotel, by sealing off the entrance with dirt. As soon as I finished, I got permanently banned for griefing. For sealing off my own creation. FUck that server. Fuck it.

I don't like hurting people in any shape or form.
One time, my ex and I were playing on a friend's server. I met this guy from another old server, he was an admin who was fired for generally being a bad admin. I didn't believe it, so my ex and I decided it'd be fun.
Well, incident number 1 happend...we were building a little town and while my ex was building a little hotel, the guy spawned a group of creepers on my ex. I witnessed it while I was building a school and it was during the day, so only way they WERE spawning directly above her was by the hand of the only admin on the server, "EpicPowers". We left, not coming back till the guy apologized.
Then incident number 2 happend some time later. He started a new server, we joined and made our houses. We then began working on other stuff and eventually got to a little trading town. Well, a friend I made on the server and I decided we would try to make some machinima, so I got to work on making a movie studio. I made it underground in a nice cave I found near to the trading town, EpicPowers didn't even notice the studio until I made a bilboard over it. This is when he questioned, "What is that?" I obviously replied, "A bilboard." "You're going to build it there?" "Yeah, is there a problem with it?" "No." So I went on, making upgrades to the inside of the studio. Eventually I began noticing Creepers spawning inside. It was only 1 or 2 Creepers, so I thought nothing of it. But once the spawn rate picked up, even when I knew they couldn't have spawned in the area because of the 'Spawn nullifying Area-of-Effect' there is in MC, I began thinking about the time EpicPowers spawned those on my ex. I confronted him, he said "It wasn't me, I was over here working with my friend." I let it slide, going back to work. But when a Creeper spawned on me around a corner when it was impossible for it to spawn there, I knew instantly it was him and he was lying. I left cause I was fed up with it.
Later, I heard he did the same thing to the friend I was gonna do the Machinima things with after I had left. I got pissed. My friend and I got back on after everyone else had logged off. We made a lighter and set everything EpicPowers and his friend owned on fire. Then I left him a sign made out of wood, "Epic, you shouldn't f*** with people!"
The next day, I get a message that EpicPowers wants to talk on Skype. I go ahead with it and it went something like this, Epic: "I'm sorry for spawning them on you." Me: "You should be." Epic: "I just didn't like your bilboard there and my friend said I should do that." Me: "You couldn't just ask me to move it or take it down?" Epic: "Well, I wasn't thinking." Me: "D*** right, you weren't thinking!" Epic: "I'm sorry." Me: "Want to show me you're sorry? Ban him or give me admin." Epic: "...No." Me: "Then you're not very sorry, are you?" Epic: "But you're just going to ban him." Me: "No s***! He deserves it!" Epic: "What if I'm lying and he didn't tell me to?" Me: "Then you're a horrible friend." Epic: "I don't give a f***!" Me: *blocks him from my contacts*
After that, my ex tried to get me to forgive him, but I don't forgive people like that.
After that, my ex tried to get me to forgive him, but I don't forgive people like that.
As you should. I've made the mistake of trying to forgive people like that, and ended up only in deeper misery.
Lessons are learned.
Worst experience is how lonley it gets in 2b2t. I made a load of pistons to create noise and attract potential housebuddies but no visitors.

Around 20 pistons so far, an ongoing project.

Maybe I can join you, man. All I have is a small wood platform in the sky that I never built upon because of the trouble of getting to the ground and back without remaining inconspicuous. It's probably destroyed now anyways, it was pretty noticeable on far view and I haven't played in months.
If I get back to playing 2b2t (haven't actually been on for a few weeks) I'll give you coords, haven't seen a sky platform before either, so that's a good incentive.
Oh, wait your place sounds like crap. okay.
My worst server experiences? Whenever it's raining on 2b2t. You know, all the damn time. It brings my FPS down to negative four and makes it even harder to see at night.
I tried playing on 2b2t once. But after I made a house, a cunt came in and took my stuff and broke everything.

*An average player on 2b2t
You gotta fight to survive, and plunder to extend your already short lifespan.
Jesus. I found a server called "The Phoenix Craft." Ijoined, had some fun for a few days, did well,* and then two kid admins showed up. They shot at me, broke into my chests and insulted me. The admins are terrible. They argued with me, telling me to leave if I didn't like it, and then banned me when I retaliated. A few minutes later, they unbanned me, only to attack me (while in creative, so I couldn't fight back). They then immediately banned me. This is why children should not be admins of servers.
