• Worst Experiences On Minecraft Servers

The worst thing that happened to me was probably when I port forwarded my server for the first time. I finally got that task of port forwarding done, it was a bit confusing, and I was pretty new to hosting a server. I went to a website and posted my server's IP address, then a few people joined, i said hello, helped them get started, and moved on. After about 20 minutes or so, I saw a couple people join. I was helping out the other people when a few more people joined! I told them to wait a moment while i help everyone get started, then when I'm done, several MORE people joined, then more and more and MORE! There were like, 30 people on the server by now and it was a mad house! people breaking random dirt blocks, saying hi, asking for help, wanting to be admins... Eventually, I had to shut down the server and remove the IP from the list. I added a white-list and invited some friends, then we played happily ever after... The End... Long story short: I hate public servers...
So I was just on a server with a bunch of friends, and we had a base going and were brewing potions, when on the horizon come the mods with stacks upon stacks of spawned TNT (keep in mind TNT was disabled and our base was faction protected so nobody could break it). So what do they do? Blow up our base with like 3 stacks of TNT, kill us all (with full enchanted spawned diamond equipment), Chase us into the Nether, then when we complain about them using spawned TNT which nobody else can use on our base, and guess what happens?
Claimed the area but the whole place didn't get claimed, so some fags decided it would be fun to hack up our lapis
yeah those homos are fuckin thieves
I administrated/hosted a server for about 3 months worth of time, and can totally understand why some admins turn become strict or otherwise very unfriendly to players. My 'friends' were always begging me to host the server when it wasn't up, and then when it was, didn't play, and complained that I didn't have it up enough. When people died, they'd want me to give their entire inventories back. There was even a creative vs survival conflict going on where I couldn't make everyone happy. Some wanted creative to just create things, and this upset the people who wanted grind in order to build things... I tried to give them both but of course everyone still complained, and everyone wanted to invite their friends and friends of friends to the server by asking me really politely. On top of that, my ISP isn't very nice about servers, in that the upload speed I had to work with was between 4 and 6 mb/s... Sometimes my bandwidth got throttled. I dedicated 2 gigabytes to the server, put on all the addons/mods people wanted, did everything I could to make it a fun experience for everyone... People complained about lag when some of the creative players would be breaking rules such as traveling out past the borders of the map (I made the map with 5 km of room in all directions around 0, 0 chunk... plenty of room), spawning tons of mobs, etc. Not only that, but some wanted me to buy an official server for them, as if I had the money. To provide everyone what I was doing for free, 2 gbs dedicated, supporting as many players and mods as it was... It would've costed 40-60$ to buy an equal quality server for ONE MONTH. After awhile, I wasn't even enjoying it at all. I hosted the server so there could be fun with friends. Singleplayer is lonely, after all. But after that... Well, I don't want to ever admin anything again. People are just too fickle. It took way to long for me to say 'screw it' and stop letting these so-called 'friends' leech off of my resources.
I am getting annoyed by the vast amount of pay-to-win servers. I have been trying to find a well-populated PvP server with factions/clans that doesn't give unfair advantage to the donors. No success...
Playing on 2b2t, I went off exploring one day and stumbled upon a waterfall. Thinking that someone might have modified this to be a "hidden waterfall base", I went through it and lo and behold there actually was a base there! Well it wasn't really, just an artificial cavern with a chest at the end with lots of valuable shit there. Raid it, and because I was feeling a bit impetuous I left a sign up saying to whoever I stole from that they suck ass and for some stupid reason I left my name on the sign. Didn't play for a week, but when I came back I went to my own hidden base (quite a bit underground) and my shit got stolen! Well I don't keep my inventory just out there, I hide my crates under the floor at certain positions, and one of my chests got found (got thing I split my stuff between two such chests). Similar sign got left for me. That is fucking karma and I was pissed. The oddest thing was that the person who stole from me was the exact person who I stole from, how the fuck did you find my base.
Oh christ I remember you! My (back then) friend was the one who was raided, found your base, and found your stuff. The funny thing is; there was no waterfall at our base. What you found was probably an entrance to an underground maze, which I'm still not sure how the hell you got to the artificial area up there.
2b2t shares the best and worst experiences

I host a server with a few friends, and a while ago, the server was set to Creative. When the population dropped significantly, I changed it to Survival on a new map and was barraged by requests to spawn in things like Arrows, TNT, and Diamond Blocks 'because it takes too long to make them'. I've also developed some sort of 'sixth sense' with the tiny community on my server, such as when a friend requested that his own friend could come on. Reluctantly, I agreed, despite my 'sixth sense' telling me not to. Then I found out that he had never played Minecraft before. My patience was wearing extremely thin when this conversation took place. (I'm Robotito, and Aimmin is the noob player.) Another incident was a few weeks ago. A 'friend of a friend' request came through, and my instinct said no, but again, I allowed it. The first time he joined, he walked around for a few minutes, then disconnected and didn't come on for a while. A month later, the same guy joined and wandered a bit, then began to chat with one of his IRL friends. While they discussed a castle that was under construction, I went into Adminium Manor, my elegant mansion, and discovered that all of my Diamonds and nearly a stack of Gold Ingots were gone. Furious, I went and killed the guy who had just joined. Surprise surprise, he had stolen my valuables, so I banned him. He contacted me a few days later with a thin excuse: he wanted to 'demonstrate' how vulnerable my treasure was, and offered building a hidden Redstone vault in exchange for being unbanned, despite the rules explicitly stating that stealing was not allowed at all. He's still banned.
I was going to say something about your diamonds being, in-fact, vulnerable, but since you put anti-theft in the rules, that was a rather fair response. Why not get a chest locking mod?
So I join a new server. I try to be friendly, typing in "Hi guys, I'm new!" You know, the normal polite procedure. So then after I say that some kid comes up to me saying this: Him: "zres (my MC name) u r admin???" Me:"Nope, I'm new to this server." Him:"no ur not ur admn" Me:"I'm really sorry, but I'm not an admin." *awkward silence for about ten seconds* Him:"giv me diamunds plz amdin" Me:"But, I'm not an admin? I can't give you diamonds." Him:"idc giv me diamund" Then he kills me with his iron sword, probably hoping to find some dropped goodies from my bloodied blocky corpse. He found nothing and raged at me once I respawned. Him:"HOW COME U DONT HAVE N E THING" Me:"...Because. I just joined the server for first time..." He really tested my patience at this point. I was on the verge of flooding him with "big and scary" words to chase him away (destroying buildings is wrong; I'd never do that.) Unfortunately, his whining caused a commotion, as the server's REAL admin started to talk to us. Admin: "noob, dont u got diamonds for my bro" Me: "You're an actual admin, right? Can't you give him diamonds instead?" Admin: "no dats cheating hes playing fare by killin u" Me: "I told him I was new. I honestly don't have any items to give. If anything, your 'bro' needs to learn how to listen." Admin: "give him diamond" Yeah, I left right after that was said. It was getting nowhere and I couldn't possibly imagine the situation getting any better so I just left. Saddest part was that it was my very first multiplayer experience. If you guys could direct me to an actual decent server I'd be grateful. The MC forums aren't exactly reliable, but I can trust you guys :buddy:
I can say this is the worst experience. Also...My minecraft is strange and crashes everytime i get a water bucket, guess how many server i REALLY DAMN LIKED i got a bucket, and the it stayed in my inventory. And every time i join... "Man i hope that bucket glitch does no--" NOT IN GZIP FORMAT. "--SONOVABICH!!" [editline]4th July 2012[/editline]
Mining with some guy, I find some diamond, and grab it. He asks how much, and I'm like "3." Later there's more by a lava pit, and after I mine it, he pulls a sword on me, and tells me to give him all the diamond or he'll take it. So I dived into the lava pit behind him. He capslocked about it in the chat for the entire Minecraft-day afterwards. Then he was banned for spam. Good end.
That was not a bad experience, that was an EPIC WIN!!

If they do, then they get banned, although this is the first time it has happened.
1)Casually recreating the ancient city of Rome (palace, colosseum already built) 2)come back next day 3)all destroyed and griefed 4)ask admin who did it-luckily I know him and he looks at the logs 5)I burnt that guys house to the ground. (Then he helped me rebuild Rome lol :3)
Friend decides to buy a small MC server. I spend a few days on it building some stuff, while him and this one other guy mess around with WorldEdit. He crashes the server beyond repair by spawning 100^3 tnt. New world is created and I decide to start building something new, he proceeds to turn every stone block in my structure into sponge, and then to lava, which he has trouble reverting. Hey guy, it's your money you are wasting, not mine.
