Yet another factor that makes Novint so great - they repay their loyal fans :3:
Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 are such quality games to play with the falcon, gives you an edge over others :)
The sale is almost over guys, get in there quickly if you want to save big!

It seems too much like a high-tech "look what I bought this is why I'm better" plaything.
It LOOKS cool, but doesn't seem very useful or practical.

It's the best thing since the invention of the mouse!

I use it for everything, from browsing windows to playing games, the Falcon has completely replaced the mouse for me. So yes, it is very useful and practical =)

It takes a while to get used to, took me about 2 months of playing games on and off before I began improving. And half the time now I'm usually in the top 3 for the team. The falcon feedback adds a new immersion to the game. The forces help you to locate where the enemy are firing from and the great thing about the falcon is that you can customise the forces.
And as John said, there are drivers for not just games, but also for just browsing windows in general
Definitely worth picking it up and it can be used for everday use
why don't they make falcon drivers for amnesia and this happend to me while i was playing gmod http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qn-oRGEhz8
I've had a Novint Falcon since last years black Friday sale! Count me in the list!

uh, i think you've got the wrong item.
I just bought one after seeing the sale deadline. I have had the mind of getting one awhile back so I might as well now due to the sale. It will be awhile until I can use it since its shipping back home. No point in having it here in the dorms.
I really hope the BF 2142 drivers are released soon. I saw the support page about it but unless I missed something, they have not been released. It has been a long time since I played 2142 so I got back into it. I must say it is still as fun as ever.

We finished implemented 2142 a while ago, but we're actually waiting on Dice to get the official patch out. There was a beta patch released with Falcon support a couple of months ago, and I believe the official patch will be released soon.
I was gonna get one a whiles back, but then that Team Fortress 2 contest thing came and all of the mouse players trounced the falconers and that really put me off. Might be fun, but not £120+ fun.

Actually it was the other way around, not sure why you got that impression. The Falcon team won 6 matches and lost 2 throughout the contest. I organized the event and managed the team, along with played in some of the matches, so I can assure you those figures are accurate =)
I also personally went 1 v 1 versus people in TF2, and came out about 50/50, but my victories probably would've been higher had I not been nervous in the beginning ;)
So, in summary, it is very competitive, and can easily match the mouse if you allow yourself a learning period with the Falcon.

The original competition, not the revisited.

This doesn't sound like a thinly veiled advertisement.
Why would a member of the Novint staff want to sell their product :allears:

I mentioned the original competition as well, which was the 1v1 I was in.

I'm simply stating what was proven in the competitions, not trying to advertise.
Oh man, I want my Falcon now. I cant wait about 3 weeks :D
Hey John what games are you planning on adding the Falcon compatible at the moment?
Only 50 more bucks to go in till I can get one.
I can't wait. :haw:

In the immediate future, I'm going to be looking at The Ball, the Bioshock games, and Bad Company 2. I will also be working on Duke Nukem Forever as soon as the beta comes out, and any other new releases (New releases will always take priority in the development cycle).
I'm also willing to hear requests for games. At this point, I'm almost running out of big AAA titles to do support for (pending new releases of course), which was something that I could not say at this same time last year. F-Gen has really propelled us forward in regards to game support =)
John, if you could make a driver that will take forces from Gmod scripted weapons (They're all in lua) and see if you can get the programmed recoil into the Falcon.

I'm not sure I follow. I honestly (and shamefully) have not played much GMod or dealt with it much. I do, however, know that it has full Falcon support integrated into it through the Source engine. I imagine that you *should* be able to get forces for most weapons, even custom ones, but I'm not sure.
Send me an e-mail at falconsales@novint.com, or simply post here with an example of what you had in mind, and I can try out some of the weapons in game and see if support can be done with the existing implementation.
Well, most weapons are contained in public LUA files, and the weapons are usually very sloppily put together by community members. Most of the LUA files all contain the same piece of code for recoil, which is just a variable and a direction. Get the variable and the direction and you have a nice script that could be converted into the Falcon.

Hmm, I would still like to try them in game to see if support is possible for each individual weapon. Could you provide me a link to a LUA file that I can utilize? Might be a good way to get me into GMod a bit too ;) I can also chat with Garry on this. One thing we do want to have is the ability for Garry's Mod developers to freely add Falcon support to any of their modifications.
EDIT: I think I misread what you wrote initially. You want the recoil from the LUA file translated directly into Falcon recoil. While this is very likely possible, it may be out of the scope of what my current focus is, which is on F-Gen game development and tuning forces in Falcon HD titles. However, I do believe you could go through each individual weapon and implement the forces for them in the GMod gamehaptics.txt script, which controls the level of recoil for all weapons. You can extract this from the GCF file in the scripts directory of GMod. I can help anyone interested in modifying the gamehaptics.txt script.
This would be awesome with World of Tanks.
Whats the learning curve for this, once your used to it your kicking ass ect?

Browsing windows seems easier to me with a mouse, I only use my falcon for gaming.

Took me several weeks to reach mouse-level play. It can vary a lot per person.
If you made a deal with the STALKER guys, it would be the perfect game series for the Falcon. From being sucked up by a Whirligig, to having your gun knocked out of your hands by a snork, or having your spine nearly smashed by a supersonic radiator, there are so many unique sensations in the Zone that it would indeed be the perfect Falcon game.
