[sp]I've never been able to beat that mission where you're teamed up with Old King and you have to quite literally fight every other NEXT in the league. Any tips?
I found the mission where you're with him and start shooting down the Cradles to be really unsettling.[/sp]
[sp]If you want to be cheesy, Get Gataling Guns and wall glitch them, they are dumb enough to dash into walls when your at the other side. And any weapon that is long enough and goes though the wall will hit whatever is in the other side, with the right fcs you could lock on to them from the other side, Just spray them while they repeatidly hit their heads agaisnt the wall and they will all drop. A tank AC is needed for more ammo for the Gataling Guns.
If your asking for a legit way... then i cant help too much, i've done it legitly on normal but not on hard.[/sp]
Should be getting AC5 tomorrow. Hopefully.
What's the framerate like on AC5? Is it still 60 like in 4? Or has From Software screwed up like Blighttown again
I've heard its a solid 30.
AC5 got, I'll play it later though, Just need to do what i normally do on a saturday.
Edit: Right, comic page down for this week. Now let's blow some shit up!
I was a bit disappointed with AC4. Some of the missions were over in 2 minutes. In fact, most of them were.
I could be wrong, but aside from emulation I don't think there are many 'fast mecha' type games on the PC at all. Most are realistic, like Mechwarrior, and that upcoming Hawken game.
Heavy Gear & Heavy Gear 2 has some fast moments in it, and it's faster paced than MechWarrior, but it's not lightning fast. It's still pretty tactical.
I used to play the shit out of Armored Core 2 on the PS2 before I traded it in for a Xbox 360 (which I now see as a big mistake for myself because of all the nostalgic and valuable quality PS1 and PS2 Games I played on there and also sold off :unsmith:)
One thing I remember from the game was a mission where you had to protect a train carrying valuable cargo at its train depot from other enemies, including another AC, called Catastrophe.
Armored Core 2 has the most interesting assortment of missions :D
Also, thread music:

Wish I could get into these games. Wish they were on the PC too. It would look sweet.
I tried AC2 once but the customization is just WAAAAAAAAAAY too overwhelming for me. I think I got anally ravaged on the first mission.
From my experience and as an AC fan, V isn't really... Armored Core. Boosting feels awkward now, if there's an ability to fly around with it rather than a gimpy jump, I've completely missed it. .
You must be a AC4 player, AC4 to me isn't armoured core. In AC4, the ability to fly around using boost without high energy drain isn't skill-full and is unrealistic to the armoured core series because in games previous of AC4, boosting consumes a lot of energy.
As a armoured core , last Nexus player as well as a AC Ninebreaker player & silentline. I can tell you that the armoured core V is sticking back to its roots,(even the game developer say so) you might think the jump is gimpy, but the jump is a core factor in this game and requires skill, plus map knowledge to add to that. I can tell you it actually requires more skill than armoured core last raven jump + boost, there is a higher skill cap.
So far, so good. Im enjoying AC5 alot. They have made it a bit more simpler when it comes to customization, no more stabilizer's that i had no idea what they really did and how they work correctly apart from making your NEXT look a bit more cooler. And no more of that tuning stuff too.
Also, One Generator and One Booster is much more easyer to understand than 4 boosters in the forth gen AC's. Props with that.
Kinda miss Arena Fights, sure. Order missions have them but it still feels rather rushed. Some Order Missions where a pain in the ass to try and S rank and/or finish the Subquests. (Mission 33 was rather tempermental with the S Rank untill i figured it out, now i hate kamikaze robots), Order Missions dont have much in them though, No protection missions or anything like that. Kind of a shame... But they might be able to fix that with DLC.
Havent really done much with story missions, Only got up to the Train boss of mission 2 (i think), I needed some better equipment for that fight. The difference that a different booster and generator does...
I'm liking Scan Mode, Since your energy gets regenerated faster while in Scan Mode, you have no excuse not to use it.
I'm loving AC5 so far. I'm liking how it's not only the fast ACs wrecking everyone's shit, it's also the ones stacking miniguns and ammo packs on their arms.
The scanner is god tier when you use it right, and scout drones are pretty fly as well. They made recon much more important in this game before the actual engagement. Getting a good scan and finding out their weaknesses felt awesome, and made me feel smart. I like games that make me feel smart.
Do the missions still only last 2 minutes or are they more substantial?
Two minutes. Unless you're talking about the actual mission missions, than they're a bit longer.
Say, 5 minutes worth?

Oh, if anyone hasn't said anything about this as of yet, the max number of people in a team is 20.
my god, I used to play armored core 2 all the time as a kid
The only AC game I played was 4A and I loved it to hell and back.
Should I get 5?It seems that it isn't much like 4A.
Also the robots in 4A seemed more like 20 meters tall not 10,look how small buildings are next to them
Some of these order missions are a pain to get the subquests done...
my god
just got AC V, regrets everywhere
it's too complex, voice acting is laughable (not in a positive way), levels are basically "FOLLOW THIS ROUTE MARKER, SHOOT ALL ENEMIES OVER HERE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO PURGE YOUR WEAPONS"
way too complex/confusing
I don't like the voice acting either, and yeah its very complex, but its one of the selling points of the game. Did you try the tutorial missions? It helps a tiny bit.
Its not as complex as the prevous ones, AC2 was complex as fuck when it came to stats.
Voice Acting isnt that bad, i've heard worse.
This should give you a good understanding.

yeah, I started playing ACV a lot more in some desperate attempt to get my $60 worth
it gets simpler as you go, and you get used to it.
[editline]2nd April 2012[/editline]
and it kicks ass when shit goes according to plan
I don't play this (I have played AC:FA though) but I watch someone else who does and my god people can be stupid
some guy changed the team's icon to his own, the team color to his favorite color and tried to solo every mission he could find and almost fucked up the entire team
Then when someone confronts him about it he yells in his mic "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!11 -insert cussing out here"
yeah, right.
PS3 version, US
Team was Reservoir Dogs
Good thing I am just renting this game. I have never played any of the Armored Core games, so I am probably going to very confused.
Still trying to decide whether I want to get this. Would you guys suggest it? I know it's kinda silly to ask about whether a game is worth picking up in the thread dedicated to it but it doesn't seem like there's much discussion going on here and I tend to take that as nobody is really playing it either.
Hm, i played some of the older ones and i really liked it but never had a chance to play online or anything. Should i skip 4(a?) and get this?
Thinking the same thing it's $75 atm so am skeptical to buying this right now :v:
$75 wow what.
Limited edition or whatevs?
This game is pretty good once you get into it. They simplified a lot of things, especially AC customization.
Also, any room left in the Facepunch group? Is there one at all for 360?
Australian pricing sucks man. At least it's not $99 like most new retail titles here.

Every single time I tried to play online in 4 and 4A, I would get murdered by a Japanese guy in about 7 seconds. I'm not exaggerating. No matter what I did or how I built my mech, I would be really lucky if a match lasted longer than 30 seconds. It was not fun at all.

This is the exact reason I never have and never will like the "fast" style of mech games, especially if they're Japanese, and why I wish the series went back to gameplay more like in AC2. I really don't understand their infatuation with going 34123412314mph and killing eachother in less than a minute.
Luckily, for the both of you, AC5 feels more akin to it's earlier predecessors.
I find my self struggling with the controls rather than the enemy. I changed my controls to assist in drift turning, so I can have the full potential of the armored core. But at the price of difficulty.
Alright, so i got perhaps a little too carried away with the emblem maker last night. And managed to make this from Soul Eater.

Alright, so its not a epic thing you'd see from a Japanese person... But it is rather close.
Just thought maybe you could add this to the OP
