I feel the same way with every game I buy. But STALKER has very subtle changes that you wont really notice if you lower the settings just a tad.

Solution is simple: Upgrade your computer
Got LURK to work, it's awesome, awesome combat, very good balance (so far) and an absolutely beautiful atmosphere and graphics.
But there's some problems:
Flashlight is too dim, this is not TOO bad as it makes nights scary which is fun, it's just annoying to get into combat when you can't see that group of bandits raping your ass. It just needs a tweak.
Trader's... well... broken generally, they have epic items (I'm sure this was intended.) and Sidorovich's prices (Never checked the barman) are really fucked up. I just exploited the system by getting a few artifacts, selling them, and then buying them back (rinse, repeat)
The weight is really messed up, it's marked down as 35 KG ingame, but once I go over it, I get the stamina penalty, and it seems that no matter how high I go, I never go over the max.
One thing I miss from OL is the sleeping bag, I enjoyed being to pass the time by sleeping, right now I'm stuck in the middle of the night near where you meet Fox (And for some reason Guide is there as well) and I can't see shit with my flashlight. I refuse to use the nightvision which my beginning jacket has for some reason.
However, it's loads of fun.
What's very awesome to me is how he balanced the weapons, not only did he balance them stats wise, but due to the weight limit being 35, the good weapons will really be hard to carry with room for loot because they are so heavy.
The atmosphere is well done, there's so much to be said about it, it seems every few minutes I've played I will just think "Wow, that was a really nice touch!". Dogs howling, sounds of STALKERS nearby, it's just extremely fun just enjoying the atmosphere.
Combat is really cool, it puts more emphasis on cover and flanking, and while I have the former down, I've yet to get the latter done. Especially with the knife. (My knife headcount: 1 boar, many boxes)
Stealth is very good, in the first mission with the bandits, I usually get caught before I get near the fence, but I was able to get nice and close to the bandits before they caught me. In fact, had the shadows not concealed them, I would have been able to probably sneak up behind a bandit and knife him, but there was one inside that I couldn't see who saw me. Sadly, I also have yet to get stealth down, it's tricky to see the bandits who tend to hid insides where there's shadows.
The graphics must have taken a long time to do, at least 5 times in one gaming session have I had to press the screenshot button just because the graphics were beautiful. Not just beautiful beautiful, it's jaws to the floor, causing car accidents beautiful. And everything fits in, if anything feels out of place, it's the energy drink with its red texture, and even then, it's not THAT bad.
Really, if the issues I have stated are fixed, this mod will be the best mod I've ever played!
I'm working on fixing the trader and the invisible sleeping bag. Mostly just for personal use, but would anyone want it when I'm done?
Also, to be sure, there's not supposed to be a mini-map in the corner, right?
I just played for 20 minutes, attacked the bandit camp.
I already love it, atmopshere is much better, guns sound better, look better, combat is also pretty good.
I got a Chaser shotgun from the raid on the warehouse, I felt that was kind of "Oh, I already got something decent?" and they give you a colt to start, granted you run out of ammunition. Anyway, so far so good.
The Stealth is so fun. I just murdered 3 Stalkers in the Northern Farm, one by one.

The Sleeping bag, yes.
So, what's so awesome about Lurk.
Like, what is it's special features?

Solution is not simple: Not enough money
I found something of bother.
If Seriy dies then the story is impossible. :sigh:
The Sleeping bag, yes.
So far I just replaced it with a PDA icon. Height of 1, Length of 2. Will that be alright?

Improvement in Graphics
Combat overhaul for balance
Stealth mechanics fixed and working
More guns
Etc.
Sure, but I'd prefer a sleeping bag icon but I'll take it.
My wife's home and she's pissed, I gotta go

Sounds like any generic/standard mod I've played :|

I'll see what I can do.

The shotguns are not decent at all, you'll be lucky to hit something at point blank
I'll probably end up modding the shit out of this mod like I did Oblivion Lost due to the fact that nothing suits my taste and I require alot of edits to make the game difficult for me.
Luckily I have played STALKER enough times to have memorized the underground that I can navigate it blind folded.

I hate games that make the shotgun pathetically unrealistic that you cant hit shit 5 feet infront of you. Just decrease damage per pellet and increase range. If you are too far, the pellets will spray and do minor damage but still enough to make you duck for cover. If you are too close then most of the pellets will make contact causing death.
Yeah, I prefer it when shotguns are still accurate to hit something at a long distance, but only 1 pellet ends up hitting the target
Holy shit, how big is this mod!

It's not that bad, he probably just picked up one off of a corpse and expected to be able to use it straight away, they won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn at 5 feet until you get them to be repaired. Then they're just fine in my opinion, they are godly against mutants for me.
Gather around children, it's story time! In fact, the first LURK story time in this thread!
So I was playing through LURK, I was feeling pretty cool, I showed them bandits who was boss all by myself in the carpark, and I was going towards that factory (where you find the stash with the thorn). I stop for a second, what was I hearing? It sounds like shooting, and some sort of monster. I didn't realize what it was, the animal sounds are changed a bit so I didn't recognize it, so I went in. Armed with only a pistol, I go through the door. Suddenly, my heart drops, I saw what it was. I saw its figure run towards me and reveal itself as a bloodsucker. I completely unload in its face until it falls over, I have a little health and my bleeding is red, really fucking close call. I bandage up (Bandages heal again, that's nice for a change) and carry on, selling the tentacle for a pretty penny to Sid.

Big, it's way bigger than its archive.
What the fuck is this LURK shit? I looked at the screenshots, and it just looks like vanilla. I think this is just overhyped..
And wasn't it made by people on 4chan? If so, i'll pass. I really love my computer. I don't want it turned into some sort of explosive because of some viruses.

Everything's going good for me except that when I go to see sidorovich after finding Nimble, I crash to desktop, everytime.

That would explain why noones mentioned any sort of existing viruses at all :downs:
Bullshit i have to wait 7 minutes for the hotfix!

It seems like that 7 minutes has lasted already 20 minutes. So i can't get that hot fix today if i'm lucky.
Someone fix the invisible sleeping bag
I'm going to have to reinstall ShoC and download this, aren't I?
