Can you get the decoder without talking to Guide? No matter what I do he dies to a group of 5 bandits, I went to [sp]Strelok's stash after he died and Doc wasn't there, so without Guide I can't meet Doc, and without Doc I can't get the decoder...[/sp]

Alright so I noticed the graphics in CoP looked really shitty initially with max settings. I've been playing around with the light renderer:

I enabled tone-mapping primarily, all the other things are mostly tweaks on pre-existing light settings.

In almost all my playthroughs I never get rid of that modified ak47 in Strelok's safe area. Attach a scope to it and you have a really decent gun.

Seems I was right about CoP being a badly performing turd again, there were some pics of a guy with a 4870x2 getting 30fps average on high settings (not even max...).
They aren't getting my money this time, they've had 2 whole chances to get it right but the game still runs like crap, it's a shame because the games themselves are actually good.

bullshit, i run everything on max and it runs just fine, except if he put the Improved Lighting on Dx10 then yeah, it lagged for me too.

Yeah if you consider 30fps average fine on a super high end system when the games graphics aren't even that good compared to most new games.

That type of system getting 30FPS average in a game that's not even on its max settings is inexcusable, not to mention there's alot of much better looking games out there that run over 50FPS max settings on single 4870/GTX260 and Q6600~ like Batman AA and CoJ 2.

And I don't think 1680x1050 is really an average resolution.
But then again, I'm rocking it at 1280x1024, so what do I know?

1680x1050 and 1280x1024 is the average resolution for most gamers, also - sure the game is playable at 30fps, but can you really look at those graphics and say the bad performance is worth it when other games that look alot better are getting more fps on weaker cards?
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I play 1920x1200 maxed DX10 and I get 50FPS near constant.
I swear they pull these results out of JUST the clear sky camp in the morning (the time and place where FPS is the lowest in possibly the entire game) and that's it, rather than in an actual gameplay scenario.
For the records I'm packing an 8800GT.

I think Stalker looks magnificent and the art style is worth it.
Besides, I run CS way better than 14fps on a 9800.

I can, I'm playing SHoC maxed out with about 20-30FPS, and I'm as happy as a clam with it.

Proof? Also you can use FRAPS to have an fps display at the top right of the screen - and no FRAPS doesn't reduce FPS unless you activate its recording feature.
Considering the guy with a 4870x2 is getting 30fps average i'm doubting you're getting that.

All i have to say is: Mods and tweaks.
Sure it would've been nice if they by now learned how to optimize the game properly because seriously both in clear sky and shoc there's mods/tweaks that improve both graphics and performance in a way that makes the developers look like they didn't even try. Okay a bit of exaggeration but you get my point, sooner or later there will be mods/tweaks as well for CoP.
