well, i'm not going to buy this game, my computer was coughing up blood, and combat was frustrating, probably because I just suck and am used to rome total war. the demo came with a small naval battle and the most frustrating land battle ever

1.5GB RAM
That was awesome. I lagged for a second or two every couple of minutes on Medium (I think) settings because my processor is made out of dinosaur bones and dust.
The land combat is very different to previous games and in a good way, very tactical, largely line infantry firing at each other, moving in exact formation and being mowed down by dragoons and hussars, who in turn are thrown all over the battlefield by artillery...
Naval combat is good, but the demo battle doesn't show it off that well, since your fleet is just plainly better than the enemy's and before long there's a couple of French masts poking out from the waves and some crewless hulks bobbing around on their sides. And for some reason the game crashed when I tried to use Grape Shot.
Shame it all took like 5 minutes to load the main menu, then each of the battles because for some reason my computer decided to be a slow bastard starting this time last week.

After playing for a while, I came to the conclusion that this game kills my computer. I can play it at 800x600 at low-mid settings.
It's the damn graphics card. I have a dual core processor (AMD Athlon 4400+) with 2GB of good quality RAM, but the card is a crappy Radeon HD 2400 pro.

The naval battle was awesome, everything on ultra at 1900x1200. I got ~40 fps on the naval battles. I wasn't able to play the land battle because it lagged like fuck.
2.9 kb/s and I have even paused my torrents. Baw.
How large is the demo?

Ahaha, I just happily went to board an enemy ship with mine. And just when I stopped next to it, the thing fired a huge broadside on mine at point blank range. So I nerdraged and did the same to him, and the enemy ship sank immediately.
Also it was nice when one of the french ships blew up in a ball of flame.
