Yea, these graphics suck. A variety of hundreds of detailed units with different faces and individually moving mouths? Pshaw.
Personally, I would love to see a Total War set in the WW2 time period. That would fucking kick ass.
Personally, I would love to see a Total War set in the WW2 time period. That would fucking kick ass.
No. The Total War series' battles relies on large units with a lot of cohesion. That really breaks down during and after WWI.
Personally, I would love to see a Total War set in the WW2 time period. That would fucking kick ass.
I can't not imagine how incredibly large the maps will be. Considering the maps are reasonably large in this and that the 24 pounders can shoot across the map. It's going to be one large ass game with large ass maps.
I just got owned on the naval battle, but Brandywine Creek was pretty cool. After a lifetime on Medieval II's camera controls, it's hard adapting to the ones of Empire. Is anyone not hearing the footsteps of marching units? It's totally silent.

Also, the soldiers die much easier in this one than in Rome or Medieval
Haha, I finally got to play. Well, my computer barely handled it, but I really enjoyed naval battles. Land battles were ok. Took me a while to make them surrender though.

God dammit, ship combat is fun.
Considering they're firing lead balls at each other.
And the fact that armor is rarely worn in battle.

The depth of field setting really fucks up some of the in-game icons, and it doesn't blur the things close to you...
Has everyone's graphics issues just disappeared? This is the only game I've been looking forward to for like a yeaaaaaaaar. GeForce 9200M GT 256MB 3 GB of RAM Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz Not great but not terrible. Help or sympathy...
great graphics (played on ultra) great gameplay (Holy shit ship battles are hard at first; but once you get the hang of it they rock. Also, the land battle was p cool but I didn't like how bottlenecked it was- although sending the army around the back and into the American field by the town hall yielded a cool line battle and glorious British charge) This game is pretty cinematic on ultra, and the new gameplay style feels a lot more tactical and refined than the previous "send in the horde" type gameplay. My only complaints is that the sound needs work (not so much the weapons or effect sounds, but the voices are pretty bad and there's no massive angry mob-yelling in melee like in Medieval 2). Also, the UI needs some work- it's hard to tell what unit cards are highlighted on the bottom panel. Also, the horse animations were a bit silly looking and when you order a half-dead Dragoon unit to mount their horses, you get a bunch of riderless horses in your goddamn formation that really screws everything up. Overall it feels pretty solid, with just some superficial issues. Combined with the grand campaign, this game is a definite buy for me. Keep in mind we didn't get to see refined unit technology like platoon firing either- that will be interesting to behold. How ungentlemanly of you- I met the Yankee lines head-on in the open field of their spawn and let them at least *try* to beat me before let loose with an encircling bayonet charge and point-blank musket fire.
You pretty much summed up about how I feel about the demo. Things are looking great so far, but some areas are kinda rough around the edges, which doesn't bother me considering it's a demo. I got my ass kicked in Brandywine the first time, mainly because I had to get used to the way the combat works now, and I've never been accustomed to moving about two different armies. The section that I sent off to the left flank absolutely steamrolled yank forces while suffering a decent number of casualties, but the Hessians that I sent down the middle were slaughtered. I took out their main force with my left flanking unit early on, and after that all I had to do was mop up. The naval battle...didn't go so well. Not so well at all. My unit cohesion broke almost immediately and it degenerated into a melee. We sunk and severely damaged most of the French ships, but lost three of our own to boarders, two(I think two) were sunk, and my flagship had nearly capsized and was on her side in the water, sinking slowly. All I could do was watch as the 40 or so men left on the first rate either plunged over the side or drowned in the ship as they became trapped. One of my vessels escaped unscathed. As we had left the French fleet badly mauled and cripple, we only suffered a close defeat. All in all, I had a damn good time losing as well. Naval battles will be something that requires plenty of practice to get down.
Select a unit, press insert, wait for them to fire and your camera will follow the missile. Even if it's a small lead ball. You have got to be kidding me, they actually moddeled each gun in the ship?
So what, you just press insert and you can follow the projectile's path? Nice. 34% @ 300KB/s
You have got to be kidding me, they actually moddeled each gun in the ship?
Don't forget the people inside it manning those guns. It's nothing really, considering the biggest ship holds no more than 300, just imagine it's a really big company of foot in a massive house floating in the water. :v: Edit:
So what, you just press insert and you can follow the projectile's path? Bah, it's finished, but I've really got to get some work done first. D:
It freezes on startup for me. All I see is the Total War logo and some text with copyrights and stuff. :(
I love this game, beat both battles on my first try. The naval battle was really easy, only lost like 50 men and no ships. The land battle was very hard though but flanking the enemy seems to be the way to go.
It freezes on startup for me. All I see is the Total War logo and some text with copyrights and stuff. :(
Have you tried waiting? It took me a long time to load the game at first. Still does, but not as much.
Have you tried waiting? It took me a long time to load the game at first. Still does, but not as much.
I'll try leaving it on while I get something to eat. EDIT: It worked. Load times are a bitch.
For every picture I see, I get stunned like if I just saw the most beautiful woman, the urge to get closer and closer is there, I want it, I need it. After many desperate attempts to reach this beuty I get stunned once more, but not by beuty.. but by the shitty pc that is sitting next to me on my desk, I slightly glance over to my left and see this terrible and ugly beast, sitting there... quietly fuzzing for itself and I can hear it shout at me from time to time. "WHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA NO NEW GAMES FOR YOU PALLY! WHHAHWHAH!" :(
That could have been much more poetic, you must try harder.
One thing about the broadside firing is though, that it would look cooler if it didn't fire every cannon instantly at exactly the same time. Better if it fired like in the trailers, like a wave (from the start to the end of the side of the ship).
I agree, like in that Master and Commander film, starring Russel Crowe.
That could have been much more poetic, you must try harder.
It was not peotry my good man, it was just a rant against my shitty pc that I made a bit dramatic. :(
I loved the demo, it's a must buy for me.
Man.. The download from Steam is uber-slow for me for some reason :|
