My guess is that they don't want to give you everything, even graphics wise, so the limit to lower settings. I can't use anything above medium either :(
Well, i've talked to friends of mine who have run it on high, and plenty of people here have mentioned high and ultra high.

It's on 3 (low) right now to prevent lag.
Mine is set on 3 (high). Still nothing.
I'm on very high and everything is running really smooth. Then when one of my guys surrendered and ran away, my game suddenly went to 2 FPS for some reason and stayed at that.

I'll double check that then. Random question: For naval battles when you set the speed to slow motion, does any one actually hear any cannon sounds? I only hear the ocean, and it takes away from it. Maybe a sound setting or something?
I'm trying to download the demo off Steam but it keeps pausing after i start and saying. "Download tarting..." and whenever i begin again it repeats, does anyone have this problem too?

Turn off grass, that will improve your FPS a ton and allow you to set some things to ultra.
i like this loading bar demo i wonder when we'll get a demo of the game.
I was going to wait a little while before I bought this, but playing the demo FORCED ME to go ahead and pre-order it off steam. ^^ Loading times are noticeably long, but doesn't annoy me that much.
Stop going :(. Get a damn job and upgrade, nobody feels sorry for you.
I can't, I'm 15 and the only job that I can get is to become a workshop slave, and I don't have time for that, too much school.. :(
I can't, I'm 15 and the only job that I can get is to become a workshop slave, and I don't have time for that, too much school.. :(
Then just shut up, jesus, again, nobody feels sorry for you.
Then just shut up, jesus, again, nobody feels sorry for you.
I will go away and cry in a corner then. :(
I can't, I'm 15 and the only job that I can get is to become a workshop slave, and I don't have time for that, too much school.. :(
I can sympathize actually. Same situation, haha. On the upside, birthday coming up, so slim chance there.
I'm getting like 70 fps on everything High (Sky is Ultra, Texture is Ultra and something else is also Ultra) without SSAO. SSAO kills it with decreasing it to like 30 or 40 E8400 @ 3.7GHz (Overclocked) RAM 4GB, 800Mhz Asus Geforce 8800GT
I don't hear them either in slowmo :(
I was preparing for an awesome slowmo cannon duel..... (I finally beat the naval battle without pausing it once by playing the whole thing in slowmotion, which is why i asked)
I had the same crackling, especially close to my troops

Same here. Edit: :(
Well, that sucks.
Well, that sucks.
Heres a thought: Maybe the game automatically limits the graphical settings based on how powerful your computer is? Like if it doesn't think you can handle ultra high, then it doesn't allow you to? (Maybe because this could subliminally make you think that the game can't lag, a plus for creative assembly?) Just a conjecture.
Then just shut up, jesus, again, nobody feels sorry for you.
You're being mean. :(

Alright, I have some complaints about the demo. 1.) Why advertise Core i7 at the beginning of the game when it use ONE FUCKING THREAD! 2.) Crashed twice on me, in 30 minutes. 3.) AO bleeds though the smoke, looks like shit. 4.) Units turn 2D too soon, I can clearly see them on my large HD monitor. 5.) Everything 2D gets blurred with DOF and effects, including menus. 6.) Does not work well with dual monitors, the mouse moves over to my other monitor when it's at the edge of the screen. 7.) And yet again, the AI seemed pretty darn stupid. And to clarify some things, I do like Total War games, especially Rome and Medieval 2, but this one is not for me. Also before I go bitching about the graphics, I'll post my specs. I'm running on the very highest settings, with AA x4. 1680x1050 Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Intel Core i7 920 OC'd to 3.4 gh/z Two GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked in SLI 6GB DDR3 Ram OC'd EVGA X58 Tri-SLI motherboard
That's the only thing I could think of, but I still think it seems a bit ridiculous. (or maybe it depends on region? lol i have no friggin clue)
I can turn everything on ultra with 4x AA with constant 30+ fps. specs: radeon hd4850 intel E7300 dual core (2.66ghz) 4 gigs of ram Like someone said earlier...sometimes when a troops runs away it will drop to 1-2 fps and the only way to get it back up is to open the menu and close it again.
Mine is downloaded up to 99% and stopped, saying download starting, and if I try to start the game, it says it's unavailable. Solutions anyone?
Mine is downloaded up to 99% and stopped, saying download starting, and if I try to start the game, it says it's unavailable. Solutions anyone?
Happened to me a few times. Just pause the download, then start it up again. Worked for me.

While the AI is not perfect, at least it is better than the brain-dead AI of the Rome engine TWs. I don't think dual monitors are mainstream aside from work. Why play the game with a piece of void in the center when you can get everything on just one monitor?
NVIDIA users - what drivers are you using and everything is fine?
I'm using the latest drivers that I got off of the NVIDIA site yesterday. It runs well.
NVIDIA users - what drivers are you using and everything is fine?
Saw some very small improvement with the drivers.
7.) And yet again, the AI seemed pretty darn stupid.
How so? If you're talking about how they just sit there and wait to be attacked, that's because the map in the demo is a historical one. Go read up on the actual battle, Americans were defending. I haven't had the AI do any weird stuff. One time, they tired flank me by sending a few units past my right flank. Naturally, I countered this manoeuvre with a cavalry charge.
