Bahhhh... Well, it's unplayable for me. No fucking idea why.
I can't WAIT for the regular, stereotypical open field battles with heavy artillery and tons of elite line troops.
I can't WAIT for the regular, stereotypical open field battles with heavy artillery and tons of elite line troops.
Just what I have in mind. I still have yet to test out canister shot. :) First thing I'm going to do is start up skirmish mode and field an army of artillery pieces against a peasant army.
I finally won the Land Battle, I got their whole army to engage me on their right flank and routed their army, then moved in charging with infantry to take out their cannons as all my Calvary was dead. The Naval battle was a cakewalk though, very easy.
I liked the land battle more than I expected. Played it through about 3 times and picking up all the little things that I missed. Found it difficult to loose though on both the ship and land battles, alothough the canister shot from their cannons is pretty lethal when you're trying to finish them off. Playing on mainly Ultra, although the sound has disappointed me. Theres no recognisable music and sound effects, and changing the speed settings seems to mute what sound there is. :(
Anyone with performance isues on Geforce cards update the drivers. I run it on high with my 8800 GTS and 2 Gigs of Ram, latest drivers. Has anybody else noticed that the sounds are sometimes not playing?
Why does the first row of people with guns not go to their knees?
How come the the artillery gunners don't look like this; It sucks that Creative Assembly had to generalise all the uniforms/colours as it would be too complicated, given the changes made to the uniforms throughout the centuries.
Why does the first row of people with guns not go to their knees?
It will end up being a tech that you need to research before using. The best bet for the moment is to spread your men out into a long a line as possible (using the decrease rank button).
Why does the first row of people with guns not go to their knees?
Could possibly be a technology/tactic to be researched.
Could possibly be a technology/tactic to be researched.
Well yea but that would suck. I don't research how I can kneel I just do it.
Well yea but that would suck. I don't research how I can kneel I just do it.
In the 18th centuries, the musket was still a very new weapon. Tactics to fight with the musket were developed over the years. So yeah. :) Edit: I'm guessing that there will be drill tactics, research and technology that will improve your army's proficiency with the musket.
It seems like it is possible for us to mod the unit size to extreme numbers. Take a quick look (P.S. It is not done by me. )
Holy shit? HOW CAN I DO THIS? PLEASE TELL! :) Edit: Where did you get the picture from?
Holy shit? HOW CAN I DO THIS? PLEASE TELL! :) Edit: Where did you get the picture from?
Take a look at this forum. They are doing all their best to mod a DEMO. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=227327&page=6
Sweet motherfucking jesus!
How awesome would it be if a fucking artillery shell hit the crowd.
How awesome would it be if a fucking artillery shell hit the crowd.
Massive loss of men. Which is why in history, they don't massed so many men together. Also, I wonder what will happen when people make a starcraft 2 version out of ETW. Adds a whole new meaning to Zerg Rush.
It seems like it is possible for us to mod the unit size to extreme numbers. Take a quick look (P.S.
I can sympathize actually. Same situation, haha. On the upside, birthday coming up, so slim chance there.
Well, my birthday is soon too, 10th April so I might get some more money and stuff. I've also decided to stop with the constant sad faces so I'll just look at the pretty pictures instead and actually contribute to the thread instead of whining even though I really want to play this so badly.
Just a tip for those with restricted graphics and want them higher.... run the shader 3.0 mode and it will unlock the high and ultra settings . http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=227737
Too complicated for me to actually be bothered to mod a demo. Awesome though, imagine all those grenadiers throwing grenades. :O Orgasmic system overload.

I love how accurately the sails are. Even the Spinacker and Mars are moving exactly correct to the wind and ships position. Turning around is a bit fast but that's cool for giving a big shot.

How is the Hotseat working? YOu play together with other people and everyone plays a round?
Alright, I have some complaints about the demo. 1.) Why advertise Core i7 at the beginning of the game when it use ONE FUCKING THREAD! 2.) Crashed twice on me, in 30 minutes. 3.) AO bleeds though the smoke, looks like shit. 4.) Units turn 2D too soon, I can clearly see them on my large HD monitor. 5.) Everything 2D gets blurred with DOF and effects, including menus. 6.) Does not work well with dual monitors, the mouse moves over to my other monitor when it's at the edge of the screen. 7.) And yet again, the AI seemed pretty darn stupid. And to clarify some things, I do like Total War games, especially Rome and Medieval 2, but this one is not for me. Also before I go bitching about the graphics, I'll post my specs. I'm running on the very highest settings, with AA x4. 1680x1050 Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Intel Core i7 920 OC'd to 3.4 gh/z Two GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked in SLI 6GB DDR3 Ram OC'd EVGA X58 Tri-SLI motherboard
Agreed on all counts, especially 1 and 6. Haven't crashed myself though. The lack of AI reinforcements, which limits you to 20 stacks, is also the worst decision they've made.
I can select Shader 3.0, but the high settings still aren't unlocked. Nvidia 7900 GS by the way. Seeing as it seems like that would affect it.
I can select Shader 3.0, but the high settings still aren't unlocked.
You can manually unlock whatever you want in the prefs file.
Grrr I envy all of you playing the game; my demo is still downloading! Seriously, you'd think STEAM would allot some more bandwidth to the demo - I have a 20MB/s connection and yet the demo is downloading at an average of 35KB/s! I'm still on 25% and I must've started the download about three or four hours ago now. 0_o

I remember having like 1000 elephants in the Rome Total War Demo
