One tactic that I used a lot in Rome Total War was to give out a few of my cities as gifts to my enemies, then retake them and exterminate the population. I suggest you try it.
You're people must love you :v:. First you give them over to their enemies, then you retake their city and slaughter them.
You're people must love you :v:. First you give them over to their enemies, then you retake their city and slaughter them.
I had another great tactic. I remember in Rome TW when a disease came around... Armenia? Yeah well it came somewhere around there, I had an army there who got diseased by it, then I spread the disease in the whole middle eastern and Africa. I thought I created AIDS :(
I know they used to siege castles and I also know that that is much more intelligent than attacking them, and I do it myself, but it's not fun to be on the recieving end of a siege. I know castles provide most of your unit production and that the point of them is that they make you choose between a unit production facility in the area and keeping a good economy, but the whole siege mechanic is a lot of fun, you just never get to play it in the campaign as the defenders and there's no point doing it as the attackers.
I quite enjoy sitting back in my castle (fully upgraded of course) and watching siege towers burn. They are using the same water from viking...which looks really nice. Of course it should do, one programmer has been working for a year on it.
Yay, you can play the Dutch ;D This game looks pretty interesting. Rome: total war was a fucking awesome game, so i won't doubt this will be as good.
First video of E:TW (granted there is no actual gameplay footage, but it is interesting nonetheless). There's like 2 sequences of unit melee animations and a whole lot of dueling stuff. The animations are going to be even better than M2, since they are going to be synced with each other, so no more wonky-looking finishing moves where a guy stabs someone in the groin instead of the heart, or a cannon crew dropping the ball beside the muzzle. That is awesome. So now they're doing animations in pairs so each soldier has another to fight so it looks realistic? Fuck yeah. :krad:
Although none of that is likely to solve the gameplay problems I have with the series. There is little point in updating the graphics if the gameplay still sucks, and that's all they have been doing, the biggest change was the addition of intra-province movement, and that only makes the game take longer.
Pirates..oh god. I'm totally getting this game just for that.
Needs more Asian empires/countries.
They'll make a come back in ww2!
I'm looking forward to the naval battles.

DON'T LET THIS THREAD DIE
WOOAH
I like war games and this looks cool with navy battles and stuff so I'm looking forward to it. Is this a RTS if so then I don't know because RTS are really hard so I'll think about it! hahaha!
I'm looking forward to the naval battles.
Best naval warfare movie ever.

And I'm pretty sure after reading the interviews and such they've improved alot on the AI. For instance you don't have to make troops at cities, the generals can bring proper units in, not just mercenaries. Same applies to admirals. Also diplomatics are no longer there apparently, it's alot simpler and such. Basically the game is going to rock your socks off.
Bumped due to excessive amounts of win and awesome.
For instance you don't have to make troops at cities, the generals can bring proper units in, not just mercenaries.
Ok that is an improvement. It resolves the issue of having to spend ages getting troops to the front once you use one army to take and occupy a province, because god knows your enemy won't have the stuff you need to reinforce your existing units.
Hell I want to kick the british in the ass, which I haven't been able to do in any other TW game because none of the other sides have anything to match the longbowmen.
You will be punished for your treason. Edit: Fuck yeah, all my dreams of conquering as the British Empire will come true. I will rewrite the history books and take total control of the Americas.
You can play as America? Cool, time to use shamans!
Also, it won't be as easy to take a territory, as it won't be dominated by a single town. The towns will be there, but there will be little suburbs spread out on the countryside or something like that, and there will be new civil unrest systems or something like that. Also I think ports are going to be separate capturable entities.

If you just invade there's likely to be more rioting. And apparently they've changed the system of winning by taking over so many territories. But it'll still be included.

FUUUCK Also, I hope they did something with that Auto-Play for battles. Just before in total war I had a general (3 stars) with 200+ plus men against a running general (2 stars). I clicked auto-play and I lose 80 men, while he lost 3 (out of his 13) WHAT
There's Prussia, which is a "more awesome" version of Germany.
Isn't it like Germany when it was at it's largest scale? Finally they added Sweden. Man I'm gonna take the freakin' world with them. Probably as the British too, stop the Americans.

Bump due to epicness, but I think merge might ruin my plans. Edit: Or not. :D Edit: Are the Danes in this game? I demand the Danes. Edit: Oh wait... Sweden will suffice.
Sweden will be the main reason to why i'm buying this. Azum.
Oh cool, i really liked it's predecessors, and i'm kinda fond of the time period. Will buy it.
