Will I be able to run it fine with these specs? 9800GT E8400 Wolfdale 4GB DDR2 800 RAM
I don't see why not.
And can you show me what that looks like? Look at my post above yours. Also, when I first ran it, it gave me a vcredist.msi error. Here it a picture: http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vcredist.jpg
That is a lighting issue.
Will I be able to run it fine with these specs? 9800GT E8400 Wolfdale 4GB DDR2 800 RAM
I can run almost everything on ultra, 4x AA with: radeon hd4850 E7300 2.66ghz 4gb ddr2
I just bought this. But I need to wait a week and a half to play it because I need my new computer.
That is a lighting issue.
And how will I fix this? Also, can you tell me what some high FPS eaters are? (AKA texture level, etc.)
Man, my first battle went disastrous, I immediately went through all the menus so I know how to research new weapon technology and the like, but I hadn't researched even basic bayonets when I entered battle with the Cherokees at the northernmost point of America, I didn't send enough troops over from Europe (that tiny town you start off isn't very productive.) to make much impact, and I stupidly assumed they'd have bayonets, my gunfire didn't hold the Cherokee axe men off, and when they got close I realized my men were trying to club them to death, so that was a loss. I attacked the Cherokees at Georgia without the bayonet, luckily my high number of gunmen and a couple cannons kept me and the enemy at range, my cavalry troops made short work of their archers, that was an easy victory. I leave one of my platoons there and head south, next target was Florida, unlike Georgia the Cherokees here have a city, so I figured that having bayonets was a must in this case, so when I start the battle I immediately order one of my platoons to attach the plug bayonet, problem being that once attached you can't tell them to detach it, I think of it as a minor setback and keep on with the battle. After drawing a few of their troops out of the city gates and shooting them until they ran back, I decide to head to the side of the city and rope climb up the sides (Having accidentally figuring out I could scale them.) that plan didn't work out so well, their armed tribesmen ran up and waited, luckily I sent up the troop I had told to plug bayonet their rifles, so I did kill a few of them in melee combat before retreating back off of the walls. Next plan, blow the walls out, I take out the walls their remaining archers are standing on, then I stand in the gap, and the enemy surrounding the gap then... do nothing, not even moving, I edge up some militia into a 3 front line infantry to just slightly fill in the gap and shoot them, and they still do nothing, it wouldn't matter if I killed these non-moving enemies right now, they still have more behind them that seem less... Catatonic. I send the plug militia back up the now empty walls and station them around the ramp that leads up then pull my militia out of the gap for them to follow up, I thought I'd be able to use the small width of the top of the ramp and station my men around it, offsetting whatever melee advantage they have, meanwhile my militia sits to their side and shoots the blind, deaf, still standing yet unmoving enemies on the floor. It works, when their still brain intact troops run up the ramp they are forced into a semi-circle of bayonets and killed off swiftly, my militia is not so lethal, only having 5 men stand at the side of the wall and slowly shoot the people below, after about a minute I notice that the side gate is open which leads right into the city center, I consider whether or not sending all my men in is a great idea (I really don't want many casualties.) because the rather peaceful enemy may just spring to life and actually do something, but ultimately I go through with it, and THEN... nothing, I put all the troops in the center of the city and slowly approach the enemy, and they still won't move. So I just tell my men to commit euthanasia, they all get shot to death, Florida is mine, and I'm done for the day. I love this game, the melee combat does look a bit more brutal and fluid, the battles are still very fun and intense, and every choice still feels quite serious.
You just made me want to go buy it :*(
I'm dominating at land battles (have not had a naval one yet). If I have at least a quarter bar odds I can pull it off. Love crushing Poland with Prussia.
So what factions are playable then?
For those still in waiting - Almost every aspect I can think of is up to my very high expectations of the game. There may be fewer cities on the campaign map, but the map is so huge, it doesn't matter, especially since there are so many minor towns everywhere. Load times - Loading into battles and the campaign map takes about twice as long as it did in Medieval 2. It's not nearly as unbearable as the demo was, but it's still a bit uncomfortable. My main problem with the game is the amount of time it takes to end the turn. It takes forever to sort through every single faction's turn, and severely annoys me. I've found myself delaying ending the turn several times already simply due to dreading the wait. There are dozens of minor factions apart from the major powers who each occupy a turn as well. The performance has been very good for me. My Medieval 2 on max performs about the same as this game on High. I haven't tried maxing it out yet. I like the research system a lot. It really feels like your technology is increasing as you research military improvements. You'll immediately see the fruits of your research in-combat, such as different bayonet improvements visibly showing on each soldier. The game feels much more challenging than any previous Total War games. Even the Native Americans are putting up a good fight against my British Empire right now, although I haven't progressed too far into the game. Pros: Every aspect of the game has improved Challenging in both the campaign and battles Interesting new features and styles Navies are as big a part of the game as they intended, unlike previous games. Cons: Longer load times Long waits after ending a turn
This game looks amazing. God damnit I hate having to save money for other things.

Also my George Washington died, killed by redskins.

Oh shit, my campaign as Marathas went from perfect (united India; very friendly and allied with Britain,Spain and United provinces; 5000 surplus money every turn and so on) to crap, how? Well: -Britain made me an offer I couldn't refuse, my 2nd largest city for at least 12 technologies (had to scroll to see them all) and 3000 money. -Persia declared war at me the turn after I gave them a 5000 money horse (bastards) and are now rushing me and plundering cities (my armies are at least 3 turns away). -I have a bad feeling that Britain, Spain and United provinces are going to invade me, they are continuosly asking regions in exchange for technologies, and asking money (not threatening, but still). And all that happened in 5 turns...

You can shorten the already quick loading times by unpacking the files like you would have done in the demo.
Press Space once to make units go faster on the turn of other factions. Saves a lot of time.
Yes, even with fast moves toggled it's at least twice as long as any previous TW game. Perhaps even three times longer.
Yes, even with fast moves toggled it's at least twice as long as any previous TW game. Perhaps even three times longer.
In my experience, it gets shorter as you progress further into the campaigns. I think because all the smaller nations get destroyed.
Does nobody want to take me up on my offer? :/
School ends tomorrow. I'm going to get this tomorrow.
Does nobody want to take me up on my offer? :/
No because CD-KEys can always be faked and I don't trust people who use numbers instead of letters. Go to the other forum if you want to trade.
Does nobody want to take me up on my offer? :/
You'll probably have better possibility in the marketplace forum, usually if there is anybody up for a trade they are there.
Nevermind it.
So what factions are playable then?
I have yet to finish the campaign, these factions are available for play from the start. Don't know about the others. So, can anyone provide the loading screen .tga files? They're really good paintings I'd love to use as wallpapers and should be easy to locate within the ETW folder.
So, can anyone provide the loading screen .tga files? They're really good paintings I'd love to use as wallpapers and should be easy to locate within the ETW folder.
That's 14gb of .pack files to backup and unpack. D: I just can't do it.
Easy difficulty eh angel?

I'm starting off on normal as the UK but it is tough. I accidentally declared war on Malta but we haven't faced each other yet. However after Prussia invaded Austria I intervened and almost took Berlin but my force was tired and depleted after 3 battles and were narrowly beaten by about 6 bands of citizens militia There is one thing wrong with the game though, if you retreat instead of battling, your army just dies. (It does at least if you're at a port, they don't reboard the friendly ships or even flee).
angelangel, gimme your Steam-Name.
It's angelangelv2, nobody seems to be playing online. =/
