I thought that ETW uses VAC for their multiplayer as well?
Hah! Denmark is gone from Europe, they only have Iceland left now. Now Poland and Russia are attacking and Prussia is not very friendly...
I am so stopping the American revolution.
Normal difficulty. I had 893 troops. Troops of average quality, mostly line infantry, one light cavalry, a general's bodyguard and 2 units of civilians armed with pitchforks.
They had 1986 troops. A mix of various types of infantry, the lowest quality being their line infantry. They had two units of cavalry and the general's bodyguard and 5 24lb cannon units. I positioned by units around the city, having no diea which way they would attack from. They chose my weakest point, I lined up to be shot...
In short, I won.

I routed the entire French army in defence of Paris with just 4 assorted cavalry regiments. I would charge any regiments that strayed from the others, in addition to their artillery, then mopped up with some infantry when they occupied houses ( See previously posted humorous picture )

Even if it is, it's not like you'd trigger it by playing Singleplayer and using a trainer.
Anyone else getting crashes?
Is the game more optimized then the Demo? Loading times and performance.
Anyone else getting crashes?
Me and my friend seem to be getting crashes when fighting sea battles against pirates...that's about it

My picture goes crazy then it freezes with just sound playing every 5 seconds.
Theres definitely some crash bugs that need to be ironed out thats for sure.

Crap, it seems that ETW is not included in my game server list. The server list which you can see all the servers for your games.
That might be why I cannot find any game online.
Has anyone finished the Road to Independence campaign? And if you have, what year is it when you start a new campaign as the Americans?
For those still in waiting -
Almost every aspect I can think of is up to my very high expectations of the game. There may be fewer cities on the campaign map, but the map is so huge, it doesn't matter, especially since there are so many minor towns everywhere.
Load times - Loading into battles and the campaign map takes about twice as long as it did in Medieval 2. It's not nearly as unbearable as the demo was, but it's still a bit uncomfortable.
My main problem with the game is the amount of time it takes to end the turn. It takes forever to sort through every single faction's turn, and severely annoys me. I've found myself delaying ending the turn several times already simply due to dreading the wait. There are dozens of minor factions apart from the major powers who each occupy a turn as well.
The performance has been very good for me. My Medieval 2 on max performs about the same as this game on High. I haven't tried maxing it out yet.
I like the research system a lot. It really feels like your technology is increasing as you research military improvements. You'll immediately see the fruits of your research in-combat, such as different bayonet improvements visibly showing on each soldier.
The game feels much more challenging than any previous Total War games. Even the Native Americans are putting up a good fight against my British Empire right now, although I haven't progressed too far into the game.
Pros:
Every aspect of the game has improved
Challenging in both the campaign and battles
Interesting new features and styles
Navies are as big a part of the game as they intended, unlike previous games.
Cons:
Longer load times
Long waits after ending a turn
It's a real time strategy game, so why the fuck are you talking about turns?
It's a real time strategy game, so why the fuck are you talking about turns?
It's turn based on a global scale, real time on the battlefield
It's turn based on a global scale, real time on the battlefield
The turn times aren't that long if you just turn off the ability to see everyone elses movments..Couldn't be arsed sitting there watching all that.
Here is the problem I'm talking about, does anyone else has a similar problem?

How do you get steam to recongise you having ETW in the server game list? All my other games is inside the game list except for ETW.
Loading times have improved.
Another complaint: custom battles are extremely limited, hardly as many options or terrains as previous games.

The RTS portion of the game is only half (nay, a quarter) of the real game.

The RTS portion is only a quarter of the real game...fuck that. I'm not paying 50 bucks for a similar clone of "Football manager 2009"
If it's anything like the others, a lot of the time will be spent on the relatively boring Campaign map, but be dotted with epic battles.
I'm keeping myself entertained with the LOTR mod for RTW: Alexander until I can get the game.
1400 Uruk-Hai Vs 2000 Rohirhim, luckily my force consisted of pikemen, so I just circled them into an Orb

Apparently you've never played Grand Strategy Games.
I always auto-resolve my battles, the real fun is in the campaign map.

Anyone?
The music in this game is amazing! I'm surprised there are no servers D:

i can't even enter a battle without crashes... sucks as i really looked forward to that
Well, this is just great. Playing through my campaign, I am at a crash. Each time I hit end turn, it goes through the other factions but crashes at the same one, but I never see which faction it is that it crashes on.
...So, I guess I get to start all over again, unless a fix comes out soon.
Maybe I'll just go play the American Revolution campaign then.

start war with the faction that it's crashing on that worked for me.
To anyone advising me on shortening the end-turn wait, keep in mind that I've done everything possible to shorten it already. I don't see enemy moves, I have fast-walk enabled, etc. It's still unbearably long. I imagine it won't be too bad once some of the minor factions get obliterated, though.

It takes about 30 seconds to flick through all the different nations with enemy moves non visible unless someone starts a fight with you or diplomacy.. Is your game really laggy or something??

Nope, I get perfect FPS at the campaign map and almost always perfect in battles. I suppose I can get used to the longer turn times. I'm just used to playing Medieval 2 and Rome, since I've been really overdoing them waiting for this game.
It's really not THAT big of an issue to me, it was simply the only issue I could think of at all to fill up the cons list!
