Just validate game files and it should redownload the files that it needs.
Goddamn it. My first crash. Every time I end the turn (in around 1720-30 in the big campaign as Britain) empire.exe crashes to desktop which means I've wasted 5 hours of playing.
There better be a patch soon. CA said next week I think...very annoying.

I admit I downloaded the game, but after playing for like 2 hours, I declare this game a must buy.

Ok thanks I'll try.
Edit: Nope, doesn't do anything, it verifies up to 25%, then the window closes. And the game still tells me that there are problems with the game files.

Do you mean you warez'd it?
Yeah, it's not worth pirating considering that they'll be patching it a shitload and probably adding more stuff.

And I'm not completely sure it was a good idea for him to say it here.
I crushed the American revolution.
But those damn indians are goon swarming my outer regions. It doesn't matter how many I mow down with rank fire they just keep attacking in huge stacks.
Anyone up for some multiplayer? I have yet to try it.
Wow, I saw some reviews at amazon and other markets, a lot of people complain about steam and that it is spysoftware, fucking cunts, it's pretty normal that steam is fucked up, ETW is one of the best strategy games that comes out in this time.
Also I ask again: Is the game more optimized than the demo?
And I'm not completely sure it was a good idea for him to say it here.
But he can show us a picture of his steam games.
Also, what is with the multiplayer? I can't see any servers now.

Same here, It seems whenever I try to join one, it's always full.

Yes, definitely.
Would everyone please stop asking this question.

I find them as the best source of experience for my troops.
Just keep a few of their regions 'alive' and let them attack you, ranks galore!
Just had a few online naval battles.
They're awesome when you only control one or a few ships.
Like one I had HMS Victory, and a Heavy first rate vs A french heavy first rate and a rocket ship. A really close fight, since in the opening shots my heavy line ship got hit by 2 rockets, set on fire and surrendered without a shot fired from me.
I just had Victory to take on a larger line ship and a first rates worst nightmare, the rocketship. But I managed to get a lucky broadside with chain shot against the heavy frig, demasted a few sails. Put distance between it, and closed down in the rocket ship, sank that fucker then swung around and kited the heavy ship, demasted it completely. Came up the astern, unloaded AP ammo, boarded, and won.
Fun :D
I buying this :D
I must say that CA seem to have got France bang on. I took Paris and immediately the workforce was on strike. One more region to go before France is extinct.
Ok so, I've tried de-fragmenting (it tells me to defrag the harddrive, I did that but it still tells me the same thing) and verifying (verification window closes at 25%) the Empire files, but it still tells me: "there is a problem with the game files, Steam will now download damaged files" and when I click ok, it just pops up again. Anybody know the solution (except re-DL'ing Empire)?
Edit: Seems that the only option is to re-DL Empire, fucking great 14 GB download...
Well, I took a dive, took a chaunk out of my food budget and got ETW and am Installing now.

I guess you could always eat the instruction manual...
You will not regret it. God I so wish for the campaign multiplayer.

It's coming in a post-release patch, they've said it themselves.
Me so happy! :D
Edit:
Also, is it me or does platoon fire suck balls?
Edit:
Multiplayer is region locked?
Anyone else having SERIOUS crashing problems?
Anyone else having SERIOUS crashing problems?
I had some crashes in custom battles, but no crashes whatsoever in campaign. I have worse, Steam problems forcing me to re-install and DL the game... I wish I had crashes instead.
Sucks to live in Asialand where no one plays these sort of games because they're too busy being poor and playing DotA and some other MMORPG shit.

Yay! If you can't see any servers, or the lack thereof, just change your download region in Steam settings and you're all set to go.

Had a battle with an American dude. Totally raped him using a pre-set army, except that I swapped the howitzers with mortars.
I ended up forgetting all about my militiamen hidden in the forests! However, I still managed win by sitting on my ass and letting him make the moves. He was playing as if it were Medieval II: TW/Rome: TW, just charging his musketeers into my ranks. He also had a regiment of pikemen, which was ridiculously hilarious when he attempted to charge them towards my militia and ended up routing. :)
Additionally, I can not further emphasis how important light infantry and riflemen are on the battlefield. In my experience, set them far ahead of your own lines and slowly retreat as the enemy tries to counter your fire, you will end up routing a few of their units.
Makes me wish that there is a "Fire and Retreat" option.
18 Years of War, Poland is no more.
Should be done downloading (steam) when I get home. Looking forward to it.
Sadly enough, I still have to take out hannover and Prussia, both allied with me right now. Russia is a big enemie and has a shitload of stuff, me being basically the only one to fight me. hate that

I like doing a reverse pepper pot with a shit load of skirmishers untill they fall back behind a nice layer of line infantry doing rank fire. Couple that with morters and light horses to chase down enemy skirmishers, and you got a solid battle plan.
But I'm loving naval battles at sea. I had a pretty intense 2v2. My team mate got white washed, so me with 5 ships of the line for like over 20 I still managed to sink 6 other ships before being overwhelmed. Having a small, elite naval force is key. A tight force of micromanged heavy hitters will beat a large mobbing player.
kinda off topic, but does anyone know how to capture cities with stealth in Rome: tw? y'know making the town defect to your nation?
Edit: HOLY SHIT!!! my Barbarian invasion is using 1,192,880kb ram... damn this is massive?
A favourite tactic of mine is to set up about 6 squads of line infantry all 2 men deep, ontop of each other in woods and set my cannons + cavalry behind, people often try to cavalry rush the cannons and the line men just mow down anything sent at them
