Oh cool, i really liked it's predecessors, and i'm kinda fond of the time period. Will buy it.
I too am fond of the time period, mother fucking musketeers! I've been waiting for a game like this since Cossacks, which is a fucking long wait come to think about it. Edit: Sexy grenadier is sexy. :D
Well I got some great news the Official trailer was released on the 11th! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36099.html?r=1
Awesome but I wish it showed some gameplay.
Isn't it like Germany when it was at it's largest scale? Finally they added Sweden. Man I'm gonna take the freakin' world with them. Probably as the British too, stop the Americans.
*cough* Time for a quick history lesson. Prussia was a large state that existed in the former HRE. It was smaller than the German Empire. It formed the German Empire with other, smaller German countries after the taking of Paris in the Franco-Prussian War. This was the extent of Prussia before the forming of the German Empire: The green was Prussia before the formation and the yellow was everything else. Both combined is Germany /lesson I feel like a nerd now.
I played Medieval II and I sucked at it a lot. The combat is just so slow...
I played Medieval II and I sucked at it a lot. The combat is just so slow...
Slow? How much faster can it get? Skirmishing with all arquebusiers teams is fun.

Updated trailer in thread
Slow? How much faster can it get?
Well played the part where you fight the Aztecs and I set up the long range people to shoot at them but they were retarded and by the time they fired two shots the aztecs were already upon them. Then I sent in all of the cavalry and infantry and they all just died for some reason. So yeah, I suck, and it goes really slow like that for me.
I am cumming bricks at the way this looks. Shame my shitty PC won't be able to run it.
I am cumming bricks at the way this looks. Shame my shitty PC won't be able to run it.
Well you might start cumming out houses because I found out that the box art will be different for each country ex. for the U.S a continental soldier and for Briton a redcoat. You can see the other box art here http://www.totalwarforums.com/, sorry guys but it seems you have to scroll down to the box art thread.
you might as well start cumming tanker ships because there is seriously a fuckload of new screenshots coming out as we speak http://www.totalwar-zone.de/index2.php?g=etw&id=5 I mean holy fucking shit just look at it goddamn uncanny valley right there (make sure to resize the images to proper resolution, otherwise the graphics look shitty and blownup)
No idea why some people don't like this period in history, it's my favourite! So much went on during these times that shaped the countries that we know today, you Americans must know this! (By the way, when I get this game your country won't exist because I am going to guard my Tea ships with first class Musket soldiers!) This game is going to be great and I am sure I will enjoy it, really now because I won't be running around into cities while the enemy camps in them! I am sad though because the time line stops around 40 years before the American Civil War so I will never get to see that unfold if I fail in protecting my tea and country.
True that Trekkie I think one reason is because many people think all your armies will do is stand in huge lines and fire at each other , but in reality there was a lot of hand to hand fighting back then. Also what you said about the American civil war it might be in the expansion pack :v:

Boston Tea Party Bitches!
PC Gamer has a full length article on ETW, and they got to play a demo of naval combat. So far everything is looking wonderful. Also IGN has some new trailers up, all include actual gameplay. I have a couple of questions this game looks interesting. Is this game anything like AoE3, and are you always at war?
I have a couple of questions this game looks interesting. Is this game anything like AoE3, and are you always at war?
It's a mix of real time battles and turn based strategy. You expand your cities, your country, set up trade routes, fleets, build armies, negotiate with other powers, the list goes on. Technically, you could always be at war if you want to, but no, you're not always at war, you can start wars, you can end them. Also, don't let the amount of things you can do discourage you, it really is an easy game to learn when compared to other turn based strategy games.
Late
Oh well, the thread need a bump anyway.

Would anyone say this is going to be like CIV4? I'm only assuming that you guy's have played earlier games of Total war or have followed up on this game.
Early 2009 is the release date now? I really wanted this game for the holiday season, 2009 looks like another big year for gaming.
land battle video out a few weeks ago it's amazing
Oh my shit that looks cool.
Creative Assembly owns my soul. Edit:
I have a couple of questions this game looks interesting. Is this game anything like AoE3, and are you always at war?
If you're referring to Age of Empires 3, it pales in comparison to what this game will be. :excited:
Would anyone say this is going to be like CIV4?
It isn't.
Comparing Civilization and Total War is like comparing Diablo and Oblivion.
