Playing as the Maratha Confederacy is fun. The Mugals start so weak that you can steamroll them and take 3 regions a turn. Once I had all of India I set up a colony in Wales, since only barbarians live there.
Playing as the United Provinces is good too, I've taken Prussia, Austria, and all of the minor nations like Hanover, Bavaria, Wootenburg(?) some of Poland-Lithuania, Flanders from the Spanish and several Spanish colonies.
You piece of advice, don't neglect your navy, research up to Ships of the Line. Seriously, don't forget because you will be in shit when the enemy blockade your trade ports with 3rd rates and steal 22,000 a turn!
Are Russians fun? Or Swedes?
does anyone else have naval sounds on the campaign map much louder than any other sound?
Patch next week.

I really hope they fix the problem where clicking on big cities will slow down your computer considerably, even to the point of crashing.
Whenever I click on Paris, London or my port at Gibraltar, I experience the worst "lag" or slowdown ever.

Same here! For me, the same sound plays over and over and over again.

I hope they fix the bug that when you select an agent it selects your army instead. And that you can't see the movement radius of Agents when they are in the city.

Got that too, especially when a ship sinks.
this is gono be epic (when i play it, i know it's out)
lolololshoopadawoop
bloody hell, when a ship sinks it take about 30 secs for it to stop destroying my ears

Same here. It sucks so hard, I really hope they fix all these little annoyances so we can get on playing this clearly epic game.
bloody hell, when a ship sinks it take about 30 secs for it to stop destroying my ears
why don't you hit space? makes all units move faster
How does hitting space make the sound go away faster? The sound still plays. >:(
Turn the sound lower.
Turn the sound lower.
*facepalm*
That's not it, sometimes when you get attacked waiting for your turn, you fight the battle on the map then suddenly the enemy navy decides to attack you then the sound gets BLASTED at you.
I have no problem with it.

Exactly the same. Its about two thirds louder than any other sound in the game. Its only sea battles which are louder - any other sound is at normal volume
What the hell is France's problem?? they come over and destroy one of my farms and walk away. Seriously, wtf.
WHAT THE FUCK!?
Just installed Empire and I try and launch it and every time, without fail, it says "Empire: Total War has stopped working" and that's that. Can't launch it at all.
Mega pissed off because the demo works perfectly.
Any ideas, guy? Really need help here.
They are toying with you!
Swedes are awesome. I played almost non-stop today as Sweden and now control the whole of Eastern Europe, Greece and half of Russia as well as the Middle East.
Another thing, I just conquered Malta...don't overlook them, they had a Naval Hospital which builds awesome high tier navy, it's sweet.
does anyone else have naval sounds on the campaign map much louder than any other sound?
Yeah I had it for about 3-5 turns before it finally fucked off. I think it was because an AI ship was trying to blockade a port but kind of got stuck on the edge so it sounded like there was some kind of jet engine running at the south coast of England.
I really hope that next week's patch isn't just a hotfix for the small things that don't bother us too much and actual fixes for the Grand campaign crashes and missing sounds etc.
Also the sea battles lag in mulitplayer like crazy yet they're nice and smooth in singleplayer..
Aannnd finally I think that when you select an army or navy and it comes up with that green hue to tell you how far you can move, I think that lags the game out a bit too.
Some people might want to try turning off 'SSAO'..makes a big difference for now until they update graphics drivers to be more suitable with the game.
Wow the grand campaign is a lot more complicated than the previous games.
I caved into buying it, but now I have to wait ages for it to install/download (Steam is downloading it despite the fact I have two disks with the files on?).
Controlling all of India gives a shitload of money, I'm getting 32.000 each turn...

I really hope their definition of "improving stability" is fixing the game breaking crashes and not just improving performance/fixing random crashes
Wow France must be researching some serious guerilla tactics
I was advancing on a small band of french line infantry, and all of a sudden around 400 native americans with guns spawn right in front of my line infantry and force me to retreat :(
bugs btw

Sure that wasn't just reinforcements?
I take it I'm better off waiting until the patches are out before buying...

Road to Independence and Multiplayer work fine. It's just the Grand Campaign that's bound to blow up in your face eventually. I'm just playing multiplayer battles until the update comes out.

Half Life 2 in exchange for Empires. I'm happy
I want to arrange some FP multiplayer games later.
Now more than 2v2 though, because it's still all abit unstable.
