I miss that one dudes voice from medievil 2 that shouted at everything in the medievil 2 trailer
There's a lot of game breaking bugs right now that I really want fixed so I can play this damn game. Playing someone in multiplayer is a hit and miss right now since 90% of the time, you'll disconnect at the beginning of the game or in the middle.
This game sounds and looks so awesome! I'll buy it tomorrow for sure... Going to love playing it with my 2 weeks old pc. :3 Intel core2 duo cpu e8500 3.16 Ghz Radeon HD 4870 x2 8 Gt RAM...
Someone wants to show off

Every time I try to join a multiplayer game it always gives me "the game was closed" error.
I gave up Norway to sweden, Lithuania to Russia, and Florida to France. Sweden gave me some Eastern European place, Russia gave me Ukraine, and France gave me this place just south of Flanders and west of Rhineland.
Must be the secret to winning Civil wars.

When I was reinstalling Empire: Total War, I clicked on "launch game", then closed out that menu. The download percent suddenly went to 0%, and instead of saying "Installing", it says "Updating". It says it has about 58 minutes left to finish. Did I mess up the installation? I was worried the game might not have installed files like AI files, etc..
Maybe this is your solution.
i killed the enemy spanish army to the point where there are no more visible units, yet the battle goes on. i turned up the speed and told me units to spread out and search the forests. my general unit WALKED into a group of about FOUR sharpened stakes, killed half the unit including my general, and routing the rest of it. WHAT THE FUCK. i got pissed off, and exited the battle to see it say I LOST. when they had less than 50 units left while i still had 200+ linemen

I waited until the timer was up and I still lost.
not the first time this has happened, and it pisses me off.
Nividia 8600, 2 gigs ram, medium graphics, and about 13 hours spent so far. No crashes at all.
Reinstalled Steam and am installing Empire: Total War. Seriously, the game's awesome, and the AI's actually good. I got decimated by the United Provinces before, who declared war on me simply because I (Great Britain) had a new king. I couldn't get my units together fast enough to fight. I did win 2 wars against Spain, a war against Sweden (I declared war because they attacked one of my protectorates), and a war against the Barbary States. I destroyed their nation (I captured all of their regions), but then I had to fight against Tunisian rebels, who I defeated quickly and with very few casualties.
George washington died in my campagin

Holy shit, riflemen are like, super pwnz0rz kickass, and the french are lucky sons of bitches, I had snuck two units of riflemen around back behind the french army to go take out their general, my riflemen opened fire, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the generals bodyguard EXCEPT the general dropped dead, and the son of a bitch managed to escape dammit all. However, I also got to witness 2 units of linemen bayonet charging my riflemen, and all of them dieing before they got there.
For some reason the game is no longer letting me save, or end turn.
I'm playing as Prussia. Something notable was my 2nd battle, right at the beginning a cannon was fired from the opponent, and it struck my general. Like, within 3 seconds of the match starting *BAM* dead general.
Nividia 8600, 2 gigs ram, medium graphics, and about 13 hours spent so far. No crashes at all.
I have the exact same card and RAM you have, hopefully I will be the same as you!
I have an 8800 GTS 512 MB, Quad Core - 2.4 Ghz, and 4 GB RAM. No crashes so far!
For some reason the game is no longer letting me save, or end turn.
Check for your units that are still moving on the battle map. If there's a unit that's making an animation on the campaign map, it blanks out the ability to save and end turn. Also I had a game glitch last night that made me lose because I ran out of time. I was fighting an army who had taken up defences near a church or something on the campaign map so I loaded up the fight like normal, set out my formations but they never attacked me. So I thought okay, I'll take the fight to them, I wiped them all out...apart from one regiment of native musketmen..but they weren't under a banner and I couldn't order my units to attack them. They didn't engage me either unless I set my units to melee and I could only attack them by forcing my line to march past them, I killed them off but still no win and the rest of his army was either destroyed or routed. I looked around the map and found a faded red unit marker at the far edge of the map, it was the other half of the native gunmen but also under no flag. They must've been reinforcements but for some reason, half the squad was stuck but the other half still went to their intended destination. They were too close to the edge of the map to attack them as my units couldn't walk any closer...there was only 11 left compared to my 1000+ so I thought I would just wait till the time ran out instead as I thought I had a clear victory and the computer would realise that. Apparantly not. The time ran out and I got 'close defeat'..so annoying!! Beaten by an enemy who lost all of their men apart from 11 and me with my army of 1000. I hope this gets fixed, I just auto resolved it after I loaded as I couldn't be arsed to do it again. Silly game.
Someone wants to show off
I said it, because i wanted to share my happiness with you guys. I'm too exited now, installing the game! :3
Why does the game force me to run it at medium?
Why does the game force me to run it at medium?
Shaders and GFX-Ram.
How do fix it?
How do fix it?

HOW TO UNLOCK GRAPHICS SETTINGS: 1. Locate the Empire: Total War preferences file. Not sure about Vista, but on XP its default location is C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts 2. Open up the file and find the line: gfx_video_memory 0; # gfx_video_memory <int>, Override available video memory (bytes) # 3. Change the value "0" to something bigger. I think it uses bits, but I'm not sure. I set this value to 536870912, which is 512 mb converted to bits. You can find a converter on the internet and set this to whatever value you like, not sure what will work, but that number worked for me. I have a 256mb HD radeon 2600xt AGP and I can run the game on high/ultra settings with no problems and very playable fps, lowest it gets is around the 20's. I have honestly no idea why they decided to limit it in such a way but this method should provide a permanent workaround. Good luck!

With Vista, for me at least, it was C:\Users\[my name\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
