24lb howitzers shooting explosive shells are deadly as hell. A couple units of those firing a barrage will kill a huge amount of men from the enemy ranks.

It is for me.
I find most of the field guns inaccurate at range other than the mortar. But then, canister shot is a different story.

Yes, they do. It's actually not that they boost morale, but more their death has a really big morale hit, the colour sergeant ( Standard Bearer ) being the biggest hit.

Ugh. Been crashing a lot lately as Spain. In the 1780s. Trying to finish off England. Manage to get them down to just Scotland as their last province. However, they've pooled probably well over seven or so full strength armies there. I managed to buy them into becoming my protectorate, but i'm gathering all my best armies from across the globe to come and face off.
I tried fighting at one point a roughly 2500 (me) vs 4500 (British) land battle outside Scotland, but crashed. Tried again, and it got into the battle. I went to lower my texture quality (Down to high.) and lower my AA and filters down to 2x and 4x respectively and it crashed upon trying to load the battle again.
Then it crashed when I merged two fleets. Getting aggravating. I just want to destroy Britain before I feel complete enough to start a new campaign.
How can they possibly support that army with only one province? You could just wait for them to be forced to disband it.
So does this game crash a lot? I really wanna get it but don't want it to crash a lot.

I can't even play it from the crashes.
Don't get sunk into it then find out you can't play it.

Bwahahaha, France has been crushed beneath my boot! the last battle was rightly epic, We were raiding a fort, had the huge fort walls and such, I had a full stack of infantry, no cannons to be found, I decided to attack anyway, my little dudes scaled the walls and engaged in the most brutal hand to hand fighting atop them I've seen in the game so far, then once all the units on the wall were killed, my infantry moved up and fired into the center of the fort and completely massacred everything that was left of France, not a single Frenchman escaped alive, there was one particular unit of militia I remember, fought to the last man atop the wall, only person left alive was the officer, until he ran into a bayonet.

I'm waiting untill the patch before continuing my campaign, it crashes when I declare war to a minor nation.
It seems that for some it crashes all the time, and for others it works perfectly fine.
It used to crash a lot to begin with. But after I think some ninja patching I have experienced much greater stability, both in SP and MP.
