I had a great time playing the Crysis 2 singleplayer
I don't know why but it was just a fantastic experience, I would definitely pick up the second one for that.

Never played 1 though.

Last time I played it (2011-ish, some time before Crysis 2 came out), it was fairly active. Based on gametracker, I'd say there's about 40-50 people playing right now on each MP (original Crysis MP & Crysis Wars). Also, like I said last page, if you like linear shooters, I'd get Crysis 2. It's not too bad but it feels very different from the first two games.
